Nice, thanks. Just upgraded. When logged in as another user and you click on your actual username it logs you back in as yourself. Does that make sense?

I dont think so.

How do we set the "Admin permission if can log in as other users"?

Same way you set all administrator permissions. ACP->usergroups->admin permissions.

mauro1947 09-24-2007 02:33 AM

Into Admin CP go to user profile.
GoTo Set Admin Permissions and change "Can Log in as Another User" to Yes.
Regards!

yoyoyoyo 09-24-2007 02:41 AM

Ok - I guess I was confused - I thought that the admin could set it so any user could have the option to log in as another user, if the admin set the persmissions - but I guess this is just for admins. I was hoping to be able to extend this to super moderators or specific users as well. thanks for the explanation and the update.

periphrastic 09-24-2007 02:44 AM

okay, this could possibly be a horrendous question, and i'm sure it's been addressed. but at the risk of being ridiculed,

where is this "logo" ? i cannot locate it but in my 'default' template
i've imported and changed the templates accordingly (and added the code before the 'logo' in my default template) but there is no option to log in as user.

thanks

Spank 09-24-2007 03:01 AM

Have you updated the admin permissions?

periphrastic 09-24-2007 03:06 AM

absolutely.

it's working fine now.

the problem now is that when i log in as another user and click on any link in his profile (return to forums index, find all posts by, etc.) i am returned to my own user id with all my information, not the other users.

any advisement? thanks

Spank 09-24-2007 06:44 AM

I've got the same when clicking on private messages or looking at my actual profile .

Subah 09-24-2007 09:10 AM

Thank you for the Update , but why you skip 2.2 ?

Subah 09-24-2007 09:22 AM

Sorry i fix the problem :)

Abe1 09-24-2007 10:50 AM

Version 2.4 (09/24/07):
  • REALLY Fixed looking at your own member info page when logged in as someone else.

anoob 09-24-2007 10:55 AM

What did not work???? You have to be more specific. Go download version 2.4.

dot2slash 09-24-2007 11:09 AM

Spank 09-24-2007 12:10 PM

Awesome this works great now. Thanks Abe1.

PCkaosboss 09-24-2007 12:51 PM

And I did the edits to the templates, as well as updating the file.

They can. Just give them the permission.

Looks like a vba error. Not mine.

Hey Abe1
Great Mod.
I'm having a problem with the ACP not showing the link. Any ideas?
Just to clarify, I just upgraded to 2.4 and I'm running 3.6.4

-PB

citroenar 09-26-2007 01:06 PM

For me nothing it showing up at all, moving back to version 2.0, at least this one work without problems.
VB 3.6.8

Captain DDL 09-26-2007 04:37 PM

I haven't read through all of the thread, but I'm assuming that there is some sort of protection keeping admins from logging in as other admins...would I be correct in that assumption?

Merrillizer 09-27-2007 07:04 PM

Still doesnt work. Updated to latest version. I dont have the option in Admin Usergroup permission. I see nothing related to this mod.

I give up.

EDIT: Just downgraded to version 2.1 and it works fine.

Merrillizer 09-27-2007 08:17 PM

One thing I just noticed, if logged in as another member, it appears under "Currently Active Users", but does not appear under "Total members that have visited the forum in the last 24 hours: 24". Anyway to make it so it will appear there too?

parabat 09-28-2007 11:00 AM

I a un-installing and using the other mod I saw on the vborg as I have tried most things in these threads with no luck. Thanx anyway for this mod.

Same here. Was running 2.1 which worked fine for me. vBulletin 3.68. Upgraded to 2.4 - no log-in links anywhere. Reverted back to 2.1. Working fine again.

It seems whatever you did between 2.1 and 2.4 broke it.

ChitownDSM 09-30-2007 03:21 AM

Hey Abe,
I installed everything as shown, and i get no error messages, but the links to "log in as this user" dont show up. im running 3.6.7 and i am uid 1, so I am the super administrator. Any advice, or words of wisdom? Thanks!

djurispup 09-30-2007 02:57 PM

Same, I use to run the old original one. It worked than but now?? I am using 3.6.8

Edit: No worries reverted to 2.1 I wouldnt mind 2.3 but only have 2.1

youradhere4222 09-30-2007 06:22 PM

Hi, Abe.

I've installed the XML files, and have done the template modifications. I still do not see this option when I look at a user's profile -- even when I'm logged in as an administrator.

Is there an option I have to set in my control panel for this option to appear?

Thanks,

Chase

TheAlthing 09-30-2007 06:27 PM

Same happened to me after the update, you have to edit your administrator permissions (Admincp > Usergroups > Administrator Permissions > Edit Permissions> Can Log in as Another User = yes) in order to be able to see the option.

youradhere4222 09-30-2007 06:31 PM

Ah, thank you! :)

Chase

You have to give your self permission. Look 2 posts up for the exact way.

Actually, you dont know how to read is more like it. A few post up from when you guys made a post said exactly how to do it. In my release info it says it mildly.

You guys asked me for a way to control who can use it, I gave it to you and seem like you dont even know how to use the vB back end.

No-one else sees you logged in. It is just the way vb works. it puts your username at the beg. of the list. If you look at the user after you log-out, you will see that they had not just logged in.

Thank you. In my defense, (1) the post that explained where to set the permissions came after my post; (2) the instructions included in the zip file make no mention of the settings; and (3) I expected to find options under Admin CP | vBulletin options as is customary.

You are correct. Once the permissions are set, it works as it did in previous versions.

You might want to update the instructions included in the zip file (the filename is mispelled as "insructions.txt" by the way).
