Sorry for being stupid.:knockedout: Still a great hack...

Edit: np, got it all figured out now lol. 1.1.2.3 is the latest. Working great except for the known bugs. :)

1.1.2 is the latest release, 1.1.3 is coming soon ;)

In the file name there's the vBulletin version (3.5 edition) after the glossary version, because there's also a version for vBulletin 3.0 ;)

Sorry guys, I've been sick for a few days so I havn't been in the mood to finish this but here is some good news. The update will be released thursday night the latest. Oh my! There is a date now on the release! Talk to you soon guys! ;)

Snake 07-04-2006 05:21 PM

Awesome! I can't wait to get my hands on the next update. :p

anxiously awaiting the line break fix

SS9267547 07-07-2006 04:44 AM

Okay it’s been a while since I last updated this hack. Now please do note while this is an update to the latest version I have lost track as to where things got left of when I was working on this. So I'm release the update as is since I want to figure out what is working. What does this mean? Well bugs and maybe missing parts that I said were done but were missed. In any case post the problems here and it will be redone for the next release. Also note that I have changed the title for my hack from vBGlossary Basics to Mindestic GlosPro, why? Buecase I left like doing something new lol.

The following is what you'll see:
  1. 16 new phrases.
  2. 1 new template edit.
  3. 2 new plugin.
  4. Enable/Disable 'Last Updated' information from glossary.
  5. Enable/Disable 'Submitted By' information from glossary.
  6. Enable/Disable crosslink image from glossary.
  7. Fixed search display code for crosslinking.
  8. Limiting the number of replacements for each term for crosslinking.
  9. Fixed punctuation for crosslinking so it will link after " ,;.:! ".
  10. Fixed crosslink php version proplem, not 100% tested.
  11. Added no shouting title feature on user side submited glossary terms.
  12. Fixed moderate glossary count/page navigation.
  13. Fixed crosslinking option so vaild active terms are only used.
  14. Navbar options for auto placement.
  15. Manual for Mindestic GlosPro.
  16. vBGlossary Basics named to Mindestic GlosPro.
Known Bugs For Version 1.1.3:
  • PM messages will not send if pm quota for any admins is full and/or their PM system is off.
  • Line breaks go missing with the Basic Editor. Thought it was fixed but it doesn't look like it helped in tests.

RS_Jelle 07-07-2006 09:35 AM

Nice release :D

Would this be a possible new feature? I prefer it a lot above the current method.

Two usergroup permissions suggestions:
  • An option "Can View Disabled Glossary"
  • An option "Can Edit Own Glossary Terms" (and the same for the delete option)

dendrob 07-07-2006 12:46 PM

Thanks, it's working great ! although the setting

Would you like to enable the crosslink trailing image after the links?

has the toggle set the other way, enabling->disables and vice versa

minor stuff ! THANKS again !

dendrob 07-07-2006 01:49 PM

I noticed that I can't use the "Glossary Tools" nothing opens up for me. Usergroup perms are set OK.

In the long alphabetical listing can't use it, but once I click and display an individual term it opens up OK. What gives?

Snake 07-07-2006 02:04 PM

Thank you very much for the huge update! :)

Holidazed 07-07-2006 02:37 PM

What is the difference between this Glossary and the vbGlossary addon?

klaush 07-07-2006 03:11 PM

Great update! I was waiting for this! Thanks a lot!

One issue was told already: the toggle of disable/enable the image set the other way, enabling->disables and vice versa.

Anyway, fantastic stuff!

SS9267547 07-08-2006 01:15 AM

RS_Jelle: Thank you! I can look into the edit/delete own options and perhaps the disabled but thats what the admincp is for is it not? :)

dendrob: Your welcome! Okay will look into that option problem but I'm not sure about the other issue your having. Will have to wait and see if it comes up with anyone else, might be a update problem.

Dark Blade: Your welcome!

Keyser Soze: Your welcome! Now with the request, do you mean you want to be able to select which forum has the feature on and which on dosn't?

bitg: If you mean the difference between vBGlossary and Mindestic GlosPro, its the same, I just felt like changing the name to make thing dificult lol.

klaush: Your welcome!

dendrob 07-08-2006 01:28 AM

SS92 - the other issue was my fault. Something messed up in the template. it had nothing to do with the mod - my bad ! Great job !

tbaleno 07-09-2006 04:07 AM

No unknown problems to report so far ;)

It was pretty painless.

caliman 07-09-2006 11:08 PM

Painless upgrade.
I did notice that 'delete' doesn't work from the glossary pulldown - it just loads a blank page. It does work from admincp.

OK... I don't get it... Are you joking?
Is this really the same?
Are you planning on updating the other one?

SS9267547 07-10-2006 02:51 AM

tbaleno: Good to hear!

caliman: I'll look into that problem.

bitg: Haha no I'm not joking, this is vBGlossary, just now I'm calling it Mindestic GlosPro. So yes the 'other' one would be updated. :)

So I do not need to do an update if I have the latest version of vbGlossary?

SS9267547 07-10-2006 01:11 PM

Bitg, if you want the latest version of vBGlossary, this would be it. Technically speaking Mindestic GlosPro 1.1.3 is vBGlossary 1.1.3. (update for 1.1.2) I would update to this version if you want to use the cross linking feature. Hope I'm making sense. So if your system still says vBGlossary you should update. ;)

cassis2k 07-11-2006 09:59 AM

Nice...........Clicks Install :)

louis_chypher 07-11-2006 12:46 PM

***** Great Work! Thank you very much.*****

I noticed that when the crosslink tooltip box showed up the glossary term and the word "Click" ran into each other. I found in the functions_glossary.php file

Code:

$replacelinkterms[] = "<span class=\"glossarycrosslinkimage\"><a href=\"$glossarypath/glossary.php?do=viewglossary&term=$glossaryid\"' onMouseover=\"fixedtooltip('<b>$vbphrase[glossary_term]:&nbsp;$glossaryname</b></br>$vbphrase[glossary_readterm]', this, event, tipwidth)\" onMouseout=\"delayhidetip()\">$glossaryname&nbsp;</a></span>";
and

Code:

$replacelinkterms[] = "<span class=\"glossarycrosslink\"><a href=\"$glossarypath/glossary.php?do=viewglossary&term=$glossaryid\"' onMouseover=\"fixedtooltip('<b>$vbphrase[glossary_term]:&nbsp;$glossaryname</b></br>$vbphrase[glossary_readterm]', this, event, tipwidth)\" onMouseout=\"delayhidetip()\">$glossaryname</a></span>";
I changed them to display a space after the glossary term:

Code:

$replacelinkterms[] = "<span class=\"glossarycrosslinkimage\"><a href=\"$glossarypath/glossary.php?do=viewglossary&term=$glossaryid\"' onMouseover=\"fixedtooltip('<b>$vbphrase[glossary_term]:&nbsp;$glossaryname&nbsp;</b></br>$vbphrase[glossary_readterm]', this, event, tipwidth)\" onMouseout=\"delayhidetip()\">$glossaryname&nbsp;</a></span>";
and

Code:

$replacelinkterms[] = "<span class=\"glossarycrosslink\"><a href=\"$glossarypath/glossary.php?do=viewglossary&term=$glossaryid\"' onMouseover=\"fixedtooltip('<b>$vbphrase[glossary_term]:&nbsp;$glossaryname&nbsp;</b></br>$vbphrase[glossary_readterm]', this, event, tipwidth)\" onMouseout=\"delayhidetip()\">$glossaryname</a></span>";
*shrug*

Renada 07-11-2006 11:32 PM

Hi,

Everything is working wonderfully for me except the crosslinking. I've enabled everything in the AdminCP - is there something else I need to do/enable to make it work?

Thanks,
Renada

GrendelKhan{TSU 07-12-2006 03:26 PM

looks awesome!! (er...why the name change? Mindxxxx Glosxxx something is hard to remember but vbGlossary is easy, imo).

eitheway...can't wait to check it out!

anyword on 3.6 compatibilty?

dendrob 07-13-2006 10:28 PM

btw, I think you already fixed this bug, but somehow it re-appeared

When you define a term, and the term is contained in a definition it links back to itself..ie

Velamen - A thick layer of corklike, water-absorbing cells surrounding the roots of epiphytic orchids. The Velamen acts much like a sponge when moisture is present and it contains canals and channels to move the water inward.

the word velamen will point back to its own definition

Morrighan256 07-16-2006 01:13 AM

Fixed, working, thank! *clicks install*

caliman 07-17-2006 01:27 AM

SS9267547 - I've noticed that I can't edit the titles of glossary terms - at the very least - change their case - FYI.

Other than that and the delete bug I mentioned with the pulldown, it appears to be working as designed.

bada_bing 07-17-2006 03:00 AM

Will install soon.. Nice hack ...

Serenity 07-18-2006 01:00 PM

i noticed in the readme files it states
"Crosslinking does not work with all php / server versions. Fix has not been confired yet with users having this issue"

i was wondering what version of php and server versions are running the crosslinking in the forums.

it's wierd because crosslinking in the glossary works just fine, but nothing for the forums :/

thanks! and awsome work!!!!!!!

Serenity 07-18-2006 01:12 PM

ok, so after i posted this i went back into the forum and crosslinking sort of works. it takes away the formatting of the posts like line spaceing and inserts <br /> instead and crosslinks it to the glossary. (yes there is a BR term in there and thats why it happens) i don't want to remove the br term from the glossary because, well, it's needed lol

so,
is there anyway to make this feature "smart"?

bwack 07-24-2006 01:46 AM

crosslinking seams to be working but only for certain users.

my forum is still in test mode but here is a thread with some examples:

i've done some modding to the templates for design reasons but thats it. if anyone knows where to point to first i can post some code...

thanks for any help

awesome mod by the way. i'm sure its either user error or something simple

clicks install!!!

bwack

SS9267547 07-24-2006 12:20 PM

louis_chypher: So its a problem with the spacing then? I'll look into that. Thanks.

Renada: I think I messed something up with the crosslink option, you might have to disable it to make it enable lol. As well check the permissions and see if your usergroup can use the glossary. Check and see if that fixes the problem.

GrendelKhan{TSU: Yeah well I was bored at the time lol. As for compatiblity with 3.6 I heard it works but I might do a offical release later.

dendrob: Yeah I think its one of those things I thought I completed but I didn't, I'll look into that. Thanks.

caliman: Can you explain where you are when you are triing to edit your stuff.

Serenity: Yeah its the greatest, it has its issues which I'm yet to figure out.

bwack: From what I see on your forums its an issue with the hack. It won't crosslink any terms if they are the first word in a sentance, well some sometimes haha. Its not perfect and still needs work.

Sure, the pulldown option 'edit glossary' to the right of the entry allows you to edit it, but does not save the change even though it says it was successful. I have to edit the title from the admincp.

louis_chypher 07-26-2006 11:05 AM

Info: The two terms in the glossary are 'play' and 'party'

Issue: When there are two glossary terms next to each other (cross linking is enabled) the displayed info is:

This is what is shown on screen:

Code:

I am going to a Play  party Click on the link for additional information about this term from our glossary.', this, event, tipwidth)" onMouseout="delayhidetip()">Play  party  next week.

This is the HTML source code:
Code:

                <!-- message -->
<div id="post_message_2758">I am going to a <span class="glossarycrosslinkimage"><a href="http://www.bbdsms.com/forums/glossary.php?do=viewglossary&term=47"' onMouseover="fixedtooltip('<b>Glossary Term:&nbsp;<span class="glossarycrosslinkimage"><a href="http://www.bbdsms.com/forums/glossary.php?do=viewglossary&term=48"' onMouseover="fixedtooltip('<b>Glossary Term:&nbsp;Play&nbsp;</b></br>Click on the link for additional information about this term from our glossary.', this, event, tipwidth)" onMouseout="delayhidetip()">Play&nbsp;</a></span> party&nbsp;</b></br>Click on the link for additional information about this term from our glossary.', this, event, tipwidth)" onMouseout="delayhidetip()"><span class="glossarycrosslinkimage"><a href="http://www.bbdsms.com/forums/glossary.php?do=viewglossary&term=48"' onMouseover="fixedtooltip('<b>Glossary Term:&nbsp;Play&nbsp;</b></br>Click on the link for additional information about this term from our glossary.', this, event, tipwidth)" onMouseout="delayhidetip()">Play&nbsp;</a></span> party&nbsp;</a></span> next week</div>

Polo 07-27-2006 08:48 PM

cool hack!

jgommel 08-02-2006 10:47 PM

I've been adding Glossary Items for nearly an hour when a tester contacted me to tell me that he's seeing the following error on pages inside and outside of the Glossary.

Warning: preg_replace(): Compilation failed: missing ) at offset 29 in /includes/functions_glossary.php on line 56

An example would be if you were to click on a Glossary term, you get the Glossary term, but you also get the error at the top of the page (Above the header)

I'm running VBulletin v3.5.4 with vBAdvanced v2.1.0
GlosPro Version 1.1.3

I've set the permissions so that you can see the errors for your self:
http://www.neosmut.com/vb/glossary.p...stglossary&c=1

Note: I do not have a link on the site anywhere yet since I'm still adding terms etc... To access the the glossary, you'll need to key in the address manually.

tbaleno 08-04-2006 01:38 AM

I'm also having the delete problem. Delete works from the admincp but not from the glossary page on my forums.

Looks like the GLOSSARY_DELETE template doesn't exist.

Try disabling crosslinking, just a hunch.

kether1 08-06-2006 10:49 PM

Hi Lucas! This is a great addition to my forum! We love it and the members are very happy too. I do have two things I would like to ask about.

1. Is there a way to limit the glossary so that it will only highlight/link one term per thread instead of just per post? For example: If a member types 'Cactus' in a post, and that word is in the database, the glossary will link it one time within that post; however, if the next person also types the word 'cactus' the glossary will link that term again in the next post. Within the same thread, it starts to become a bit of overkill. I would love it if there were a way to make it so that it would not repeat a word within a thread until say five posts down, or the next page, etc...

2. Is there any way to get the glossary to see the difference between Cactus and cactus. I put the term in lower case inside the database, but when a user types the proper name, it forces the word to be lower case because that is the way the word is inside the glossary. I would have the same problem if the word were capitalized in the glossary, just in reverse.

I hope you or someone who is more familiar with this awesome modification can help!

Cheers!
Kether
