The catagorys seem like they have a fixed width because it is pushing my forum out of balance with my logo.

I just wanted to pop in here and give a shout out on this hack. I couldn't do it when I was in process of getting it to work because we were building a whole theme that we wanted to keep under wraps. But from the one hack we were able to do things we never thought we could.

Things that improved our Look from this hack
#1 We always wanted forum spacing, but could never get it to work right. We now have it and it's fantastic!

#2 Top and Bottom Images is something we ALWAYS wanted, but again had no idea how to do it. They add so much to the forum and you can use them anywhere!

#3 From looking at the code and realizing we could use it anywhere, we redesigned our Postbit using this code, and it's added a whole new level of originality and professionalism to our board.

#4 This code gave us the confidence to really push and figure some new things out. One of those was having links built in onto the forum header, and not only just links, but links that change when being hovered over. And another was the integration in the profile area in the postbit.

This hack ALONE has had the single greatest impact on the look of our board.

You can view the change yourself by going to www.xgplanet.com and using the Quick Style Chooser to switch between the old look and the new look. Its really amazing.

I have also attached some pics of what this has done for our board.

PS - bfoot045's board is CLEARLY inspired by what we have done. I just don't like him copying our style without permission.

I believe there is some fixes for it, as that's how we got ours to work. It's been a while though, so I don't remember exactly how we fixed it. Read through this thread, and I am sure you will find the fixes or links to the fixes.

Sorry for the double post :eek:

I had problems with my alignment on both the last post and also the image at the beginning, I couldn't figure out how to get them to work til I decided to add width="100%" to the
Code:

<td class="thead" width="100%" align="$stylevar[left]">$vbphrase[forum]</td>
so as i have it below, all forums are now aligned for me.

Code:

<tr align="center">
          <td class="thead" width="15">&nbsp;</td>
          <td class="thead" width="100%" align="$stylevar[left]">$vbphrase[forum]</td>
          <td class="thead" width="250">$vbphrase[last_post]</td>
          <td class="thead" width="40">$vbphrase[threads]</td>
          <td class="thead" width="40">$vbphrase[posts]</td>
          <if condition="$vboptions[showmoderatorcolumn]">
          <td class="thead">$vbphrase[moderator]</td>
          </if>
        </tr>

Keep in mind you have to have a set width for all the other columns so the 100% from this one doesn't interfere with them. Hope it works for you guys too.

Dont worry RK, Its just a test skin, I needed to use something with side stuff like that so I could test out this mod. It will change. The top logo will change.

I would like to use the test style I posted above, and was going to ask during opening,(several weeks from now). Ill use my other style if I cannot use the one I have currently. It was made from scratch in photoshop.

RK, I fixed it myself just messing around with things and rewriting things..lol added code here and took code out there and ended up working..I have to say I have learned a ton from this mod though...;)
P.S. Your forum skin looks great!!!

There are several things that bother me about the current style your using. First thing is, on your header it says you designed and coded the style. While you may have made it from scratch in Photoshop, you obviously did not design it. The design was a collaboration between myself and my Professional Graphics Technician. He did every bit of the graphic work based on his idea's and a few of mine for the graphic design. We would appreciate if you did not use your current style as it is a clone of our style, in which took a lot of time to design and incorperate. Again we'd appreciate it if you could come up with your original graphics your website. Thanks.

Also, being that your looking to start a site, might I suggest that you come up with something all your own. Our site was criticized early on because we looked to much like another site a lot of us came from. So when we decided to work on this theme we wanted something different from anything anyone had seen before graphically with the colors, header, and graphics.

We wish you the best of luck with your site and hope you can understand our reasoning in wanting you to go another direction graphically. Thanks, and have a nice day.
