I think you missed the other way. If you have a large community and want to sell community related merchandise then you would want OSC to be a secondary software to vbulletin. (ie. you would want vbulletin to be the main software with OSC integrated into it instead of vbulletin integrated into OSC.

By the way, I am just looking for a way to put vbulletin header/footer on the OSC page without using iframe. That way I can have specific title/meta info while still maintaining a seamless visual integration. If anybody succeeds please post up :D

I would think it's the other way around you know? Why would you want a forums member in your "shopping cart" admin that hasn't bought a thing from you? Do you think that inside vBulletin's Members area you would be a customer already in their "admin"? Just by simply using their forums as a "simple member"? Seems sorta odd to have it that way though...

See what I mean? Or am I missing something here???

A OSCommerce customer account has much more information fields that are required to shop, then the vbulletin forum member account has. Therefor, it is not possible to shop with a forum account, but it is possible to browse the forum with a OSCommerce account.

Why not a bridge between both, plus a plug in that refers OSCommerce account to forum account and vice versa?

I think that it would be good to have a option to allow or not allow members without a OSCommere account to post in forums.
I also think it would be good for admins to easily check OSCommerce orders linked to a forum account. (In case of complaints, product reviews, etc.)

I thought OSCommerce was a query killer for small and medium forums. I do not know why vBulletin just not make a cart or redo subscription and purchase though cart system.

I created a contribution that uses nusoap to connect between the 2 apps - this is available from oscommerce downloads.

Currently you register in oscommerce and this also requests a forum name and then creates your vbulletin account. It should be failry straightforward to change it to work in reverses as well.

Currently you need to login to both applications separetly (ran out of time to implement one login- but can be done).

The contribution would probably need to be modified to suit your circumstances but the source code is all available so you could hire a php developer to do this.

hi

i use the oscommerce since 6 years and i can tell that i know this engine (oscommerce)
to make a good brigde you need make this:
1) changing password function in vbulletin - and use from oscommerce (its better than in vb)
2) add some queries to both registering pages
3) make a one mod in activity link (add one param to check that user wants to have shopping feature)
4) in register form you should put the checkbox which tell to the script that user wants to be forum member (and vice versa)

thats all

as additional stuff you can add the "your basket" in forum navibar and of course link to the store.

i thinking now about a special promotion (in usergroup) for users which buy more than one time or leave for me some ammount of $$$ :D

there is a many ways to make this a one system with really good feature. if you wants i can in next week write more description about this bridge.
