Could something like what Links SQL has be set up for just the user data? I think for the most part what people want to edit is information stored about the user... I think that if we could add fields and then they would become automatically available in the templates as $fieldname and then we could add the field to the profile and register form if we want them there...

If something like this was set up you could create so many hacks... private messages could be stored as one of the fields... ranks... etc.

The glow could be done in the templates really easily... as for the stars I think someone got that working...

Well, something i'd like to see is multiple schemes. The user would be able to either select a pre-made scheme, or use his/her own. Doesn't seem too hard to accomplish, either. You normally have something similar to this (i suppose, although i don't have vB):

echo "<body bgcolor=$bgcolor link=$link text=$text>"; # etc, etc, yeah, yeah, there's more than this, but still...

All you'd have to chance would be where you got the variables. Normally, this would be wherever you keep the settings for the styles. Instead, you'd take it from a user style file (or MySQL table, depending on how it's set up). If the style file is empty, you'd then use the default. You could also use a cookie, but i like a file better because it'd stay constant no matter where you viewed the board.

Well, there's my two cents.

Vb works with templates so that would be a little harder, but I believe john said stuff about custom schemes..summer release probably.
