Yes I use vBSEO, but I have friends and clients that can't afford it right now, if this is a good product for them, I would suggest it..

Trust me, I'm not asking question to make you look bad, these questions I did ask I feel are important to someone who is considering Any url rewrite..

actually demo links do help us understand, I don't see why your being negative about this..I certainly wasn't trying to be..

maybe you can post a link to the "big boards" that have been using it for long term ?

Some is fact, some is subjective. My real problem is that many people install SEO enhancements without having a clue about the SEO theory behind it. I could tell you X, Y, and Z is great about Zoints SEO, but are you going to believe me? Anyone who is well versed in SEO, programming, and monetization will quickly see the differences between the products based solely upon the screenshots and information in this thread.

I will be going through tomorrow and doing an extensive writeup. But frankly, i'm of the opinion that no SEO modifications should be installed unless you know WHY you are installing them. There isn't an SEO product on the market (Zoints SEO included) that in MY opinion doesn't have a couple features that can in fact hurt the performance of a forum. Zoints SEO is a fantastic piece of software, but I sure as hell wouldn't turn a couple of its features on. Algorithm updates happen constantly, if you're going to play with SEO, you better understand it.
I was just replying to your claim, you said there are some things zoints vbseo can do better, and some things vbseo can do better,, If you didn't have something to back this up, you shouldn't have said it.. ;)

Please check the screenshots posted in the first post.

thank you

If they have session IDs then they aren't using any of the url changing features.

oh, sorry, it had rewritten url's, and was in this thread, so I assumed it was using this mod..
btw,, there are more then one demo links that had session id's.

Thanks Brandon, but don't wish luck to us. Zoints SEO belongs to the vBulletin community now. Wish yourselves luck :)
um, okay then instead of good luck,, I'll say hope this works out good for you and the community ;)

Brilliant. Works perfect.

Thank DCChapman!

If you check the coding then you can see where it adds the session url and it should automatically be pruned off the url by vB anyway. If it's not then it's a problem with their board not with this mod.

But on the other hand the writers beat demo doesn't look to good: http://www.writersbeat.com/ xD

On two of my sites, my forum index file is named forum.php, will this effect anything in the htaccess file, as I notice the location "index.php" in there.

nimonogi 09-24-2006 10:44 AM

I you have set
Code:

DirectoryIndex forum.php
in your .htaccess
I believe would work fine...

Hemanth 09-24-2006 11:33 AM

Good work man.. Thanks..

Neal-UK 09-24-2006 12:53 PM

I'm noticing people on Who is online viewing a location that comes up with invalid link: /forumdisplay.php/-.html?u=403

Neal-UK 09-24-2006 02:11 PM

This has also made my gallery and links stop working properly too, pointing to the wrong place. What do I need to alter in the htaccess file at all?
