I may have cross-referenced in error. I do live in the middle of the Pacific Ocean so the salt water has tainted my brain cells. Yes, they don't only decay surface material. :D As left field as it may be, I'll use the above as my defense. :)

Funny thing, my sis just returned from Chicago from a business convention, and she said she couldn't wait to get back to Georgia. ;)

Born and raised Georgian. Love the Loblolly pines; love the Savannah River; love the "I can still smell the roses" -- not car exhausts and smog; love the ability of knowing faith still exists (not shunned; or pushed into the corner because some Gothy type hates God); love knowing I can garden [without the prissy neighborhood associations telling me otherwise], with space to put in enough fresh crops to fill 2 freezers and an entire cupboard with canned goods; love paying less taxes and cost of living is lower; and love sipping lemonade on porches that welcome friends and neighbors.

Not much to not like about the South. :)

From Nashville, TN but moved to Jacksonville, FL and lived there for about 8 years, then moved to Chicago, IL for 3 years, and now I'm in San Diego, CA for about 3-4 years.

Which did you like best?

I spent some time in Jacksonville, it's a very odd place. :) I couldn't stand so many people living so close together.

This is my backyard (attached)...well as much of it as I could get into three pictures. I gotta have my space. :)

If you thought a lot of people lived close together in Jacksonville, you definitely have not been to San Diego  :D It's insane how close everything is here, houses built almost on top of houses. VERY beautiful place with very beautiful weather, but definitely not for anyone who doesn't like to feel like they are sort of living in an overcrowded village.

Jacksonville is almost like a second home to me since I lived there for so long and have family there, but it's too ghetto and has way too much crime for me to ever want to raise a family there. So, while I did like most of Jacksonville, we will probably never move back.

Chicago - Enough said about that! I will never, EVER choose to live in the north ever again. I hated the city, I hated the weather, I hated the entire area. Chicago is not all I thought it would be and the weather for me was unbearable. It stays gray a good portion of the year and it stays cold way too long for my taste. We only averaged about 2 decent months a year where it's nice enough to just hang out in the yard, go swimming, etc. Though even during summer months the water still never really warmed up b/c it never got hot enough for long enough.

Nashville is HOME to me, so it's my favorite place. I am a southern country girl at heart and love everything that Tennessee has to offer. Its beautiful there, with a low cost of living compared to the other places I've lived. It would be an ideal spot for us to move once we're ready to live in one place for a while.

Nashville has my vote for #1, by far!

I agree Jacksonville is somewhat of a ghetto. I was staying in westside when I was down there and it was......a big change from the way things are at home (NC). I heard Northside was pretty rough....I never drove that way to see for myself.

- I did do a lot of walking around the neighborhood I was staying in. Most of the people were nice except that angry women with two pit bulls in the front yard. lol

Nashville is not far from Knoxville...which is where I'm at :) No place on earth like Tennessee!

Some interesting facts about my home area:

Northampton Town has the highest violent crime rate in the UK :) (number of violent crimes compared to population) (I live 14 miles away)
The Kingsway Estate in Wellingborough has the Highest Teenacy Pregnancy Rate in Europe (I live 5 miles away)
Rushden Town has either the 4th or the 5th Highest Teenacy Pregnancy Rate in Europe (I live 4.5 miles away)
Northants Police recently announced a 600% increase in the number of reported thefts of Lead and Copper in the last year...

Isn't it great to live here :)

I've been through Nashville a few times, since I used to live over near smacklan's locale.
