Well i seemed to have problems installing.. fixed 2 to get it basically to run..

1. the templates were truncated at install... why? because the vbay template for example contains a non-encoded html entity.. the ? sign.. it has to be © if like me you use UTF-8 encoding.. (the template imports only up to that sign..) and as the template is not finished and the database gives you error (but strangely only when it reads the template) .. (nb: it also doesnt like when suddenly single quotes are used in the template.. vbay template - at the end width='100%' instead of width="100%" .. but the issue was definitively the ? sign..)

2. ok.. got it running.. but when i want to add an auction.. it gives me an warning.. saying:
Quote:

Warning: mysql_insert_id() [function.mysql-insert-id]: A link to the server could not be established in C:\apache\xxxxxx\htdocs\forums\vbay.php on line 408
all other hacks seem to work perfectly.. so I assume its this addon that is causing the problems.. I think it has something to do with database collation.. and php version..
I am using php 5.2x and mysqli module with utf-8 encoding.. (need it for multilanguage support as the site is in 7 languages..)
[EDIT]just seen that mysql_insert_id() has to be changed to mysqli_insert_id() when mysqli is enabled in config.php [/EDIT]
but the idea seems interesting.. i'll wait for the version 2 before install.

Felix

FYI, I cant get in any longer...what did you change? It probably doesnt like my zip code because it has letters in it:
Blaine Canadian users have letters in there zipcode ...Help Please

Blaine0002 10-02-2007 06:22 PM

Oops, didnt know that. Edit vbay.php find
'zip' => TYPE_INT,
replace with
'zip' => TYPE_NOHTML,

that should do it.

When i eventually do change the name of vbay to something else, what should i call it?

towermatt 10-02-2007 09:16 PM

I run a Dark Tower fan site (set of Stephen King books) so I renamed the .php file "DTbay". Hopefully that is okay.

The link at the bottom of the page still goes straight to you though.

Blaine0002 10-02-2007 09:39 PM

Yep thats perfectly fine :)

Thanks for pointing that out, ill fix the © issue, and will look into a vbulletin substitute for mysql_insert_id

Can you add like a Tracking system for tracking numbers if so u have my donation another way to stop scammers with tracking

towermatt 10-03-2007 05:14 PM

Hey Blaine

I am hoping there is a way to edit the very first page a member sees when they log in the first time. It asks for a shipping address and I wanted to put a link to my sites privacy policy there.

Just so folks know we aren't sharing their mailing address with anyone but the seller.

I know it says that somewhere else but I really need it on the first page they see.

Thank you in advance.

Edit--also my Canadian users are saying it won't allow their postal code which is six digits long. I read the thread and found where to change the State allowable characters but not for the zip

Blaine0002 10-03-2007 05:31 PM

Not sure, it should allow it, but i would wait untill next version, which SHOULD be updated today.
