Other extra fields I would like to see:
1. License - Commercial, Shareware, Freeware, Open Source, etc.
2. Homepage - to add a link to the homepage of the software

I decided to add them myself and works well (see attached). I hope I can share them someday.

Thanks for the great add-on!

Try changing that to ../downloads (so 1 dot more in front of the slash). Maybe that helps?

Leonard 05-20-2008 04:13 PM

Hi there,

This is a great mod!

I have a question. Due to the requirements of a software we're supporting (drag and drop directly into the software), we need to link directly to the uploaded file on the webserver.

By default, DownloadsII will pass the file through downloads.php. However, we want to link directly to the file.

E.g. if you upload "image.jpg", it should link directly to http://<webserver/downloads/image.jpg and not to http://<webserver/downloads.php?xxxx

I know to do this in the template, but I don't know what the variable is for the correct URL string.

Anyone help?

Thanks!

Leo

Hey Jelle
Do you know why do i get this error when i upload an image ?

Black Tiger 05-20-2008 08:31 PM

@Notafinga: Your forums is setup like www.yoursite.com/forums/downloads?
If yes, my suggestion about the double dot was wrong. But in that case I don't know what's causing the problem.

notafinga 05-21-2008 01:16 AM

yup the site is set up as www.URL.com/forums/downloads

Is there a possible fix or solution to this?

My users purchase products through the subscription which gives them access to download products as well as access to support forums for those products. Each usergroup is based on permissions and if they purchase two products, then two forums open to them and they are then a member of two usergroups. Each of these usergroups with separate download category permissions.

Thank you in advance for anyone who has encountered and possibly fixed this or knows of a solution.

This is a fantastic product though and much appreciate the time that went into it.

Have anyone got a solution for this?
I am having the same problem.

HappyPike 05-22-2008 12:53 AM

Jelle/CyberRanger,

Is there any plan to add a "Subscription" feature so people can subscribe to a file and be notified when a new version is released?

Thanks very much for all your hard work! It's greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I am having a little bit of difficulty setting the download limit. I tried creating the .htaaccess file with
Code:

php_value upload_max_filesize 30M
php_value post_max_size 30M

Every time I try putting this in my forum Directory my forums crash and the error is "Internal Server Error" Any Ideas?

Black Tiger 05-22-2008 01:28 AM

It should be named .htaccess not .htaaccess. But if this is a typo and you have it in the .htaccess and receive the "Internal Server Error", then your host has not setup php and Apache that you can use these value's in a .htaccess file.
In that case you need to contact your host.

maidos 05-22-2008 03:50 AM

i hope the coder can bring up the possible bugs here, unknown file size and no eta.. and ppl could bypass download restrictions

Since i updated to 3.7.0 i've been getting some weird bugs with this modification. Somehow spammers are able to submit files (as an unregistered user) even though unregistered users don't have access to add files. I even tested by logging out and trying to submit a file and it wouldn't let me, so i dont know how these spammers are doing it. Luckily i have moderation enabled for file submissions so the files dont actually get submitted. Still its annoying.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

Helmut71 05-22-2008 12:05 PM

Since 3.7 I can't upload files anymore!!

It alway say "fill in the red marked fields (Rote Felder müssen ausgefüllt werden" but all the fields are filled in!

That's not because of your vB 3.7 update, but because of a GARS update probably.
You can find the solution in the first post :)

carrlos 05-22-2008 05:07 PM

How does the "Import" feature work? I have many files already uploaded and would like to put them in DownloadsII without having to download them then upload them again. That would kill my bandwidth.

Another question, if I have the need later on, can I create sub-categories and move files that are already uploaded to those sub-categories???

|Jordan| 05-22-2008 05:29 PM

RS_Jelle, any idea why this is happening? Has anyone else reported it?

please reply to my post. it concerns the downloads restriction please
I cannot continue like this since the members will just go over the bandwidth allotment and i cant afford to pay overage fees

this member is only suppose to download 3 times per day
and now im seeing more user downloading more than 3 times per day. please please fix this

also member can download multiple times under one minute which i did set 60 second waiting time. This exploit clearly can enable big threat like putting my server under high load please answer

also when i upgraded to the latest mods, it now gives eveyrone no eta and unknow file size

That's because of the default upload limit of PHP.

You need to create a file named .htaccess (note the period in front of the name). Put the following two lines into the file:

Code:

php_value upload_max_filesize 30M
php_value post_max_size 30M

Upload the file into your forum directory (the same location where downloads.php is located.)

This will increase the size of the file you can upload to 30MB.

This is either not working for me, or I don't know how to create the file. Can someone help me please.

Skyrider 05-23-2008 08:03 AM

Jelle, may I ask why you didn't replied to my private message on the http://www.minatica.be forums while you do reply here to people? I've been waiting over a week now.

nike.stars 05-23-2008 09:14 AM

is it possible to change / editing the php file to change thumbnail size? I feel it a little bit small, i prefer it to be about 250x250 pixel somehow

and how do i show up "Mod of the Month" just like in your demo site?

Just make a file called htaccess.txt in windows. Put the lines in there.
Upload it to your server's public_html directory.
Then rename the file via the ftp program to .htaccess and you're done.

If these lines in a .htaccess file don't work or give an "internal server error" notice, then the host has not set it up so you can use these in your .htaccess file. In that case you have to ask the host to raise the size in the php.ini.

carrlos 05-23-2008 03:22 PM

What's up with the support on this mod?? I've posted twice and have gotten no response.

Edit:
I just saw Tiger's response. That's what I did but it didn't work. I am calling my hosting company now.

Edit 2:
They just said my default is 8MB and that the max is 15MB. But the file I tried to upload was less than 3MB. Any ideas anyone?

Edit 3:
Here is my php.ini file:
Code:

register_globals = off
allow_url_fopen = off

expose_php = Off
max_input_time = 60
variables_order = "EGPCS"
extension_dir = ./
upload_tmp_dir = /tmp
precision = 12
SMTP = relay-hosting.secureserver.net
url_rewriter.tags = "a=href,area=href,frame=src,input=src,form=,fieldset="

Actually, anyone can change their php.ini
max upload size. Most host have added the php.ini file to most if not all folders within your domain. If you find you dont have one in each folder, simply add it by copying the one in your root.

Thanks blind-eddie, please see my php.ini file in the post above yours and tell me if you see anything unusual or anything that needs changing.

You have to chmod the download folder to 777.

carrlos 05-23-2008 04:38 PM

I finally got it to work but the .htaccess file did not solve the problem. Thanks to blind-eddie for pointing me to the php.ini file.

I added the red code to my php.ini file and now all is well with the uploads:
Code:

register_globals = off
allow_url_fopen = off

memory_limit = 50M
post_max_size = 30M
file_uploads = On
upload_max_filesize = 30M

expose_php = Off

extension_dir = ./

Thank,

You already asked this three times now and the answer stays the same: the current version is already compatible with it. Also the navbar template edits are still working fine, the code part to search for in that template is still there.

Only the additional memberinfo template changes need an update, which will be in version 6.

Some sites running vB 3.7 and DownloadsII 5.0.8:
http://www.satellitefun.org/bbs/downloads.php
http://www.joomlart.com/forums/downloads.php
http://roundcubeforum.net/downloads.php
And even more: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...rsion+3.7.0%22
