THinking of trying this out but looked at a few sites that have this installed and have yet to see one where the categories showed. Does anyone have the categories showing?

...this is just one man's opinion

Photopost vbGallery
Photopost has been around for years with their product and it has had time to mature and is a pretty clean and refined product now. Photopost works well but can be a little intimidating setting it up and tweaking it to get it the way you want it. On the other side the support for vbGallery I have found to be almost non-existent. If you have an idea or an issue, don't hold your breath on getting it fixed/implemented. Their updates are few and far between and don't expect any new features/additions in the lifetime of your product license - they will most likely not be coming. I believe Photopost became complacent because up until now competition was lacking, especially on the vBulletin side for galleries.

Dragonbyte Gallery
Dragonbyte Gallery is a new product. From it's initial release just two months ago to the current product I think it has come a long way. The initial setup is much more straight forward (as compared to Photopost) and user friendly enough even for a novice. Support is second to none (as is with all Dragonbyte products from my experience). Every suggestion and comment made to them is truly taken into consideration. Their implementation of bug fixes, tweaks and additional features seems to be continual. The only thing that I believe holding Dragonbyte Gallery back at this point is the lack in number of users and good feedback, since it is such a new product. My suggestion is to jump on board and give it a run - I don't think you will be disappointed, this product is going places! Use it, let them now what you like and don't like. The more feedback they get, the better the product we all will get.

Like I said at the top, I believe it is almost inevitable the way things are going that the true leader in vBulletin gallery software will soon be Dragonbyte Gallery.

I agree with a lot of this opinion but not all. I disagree with the part about support. I have been a user of Photo Classifieds for many years and have found the support to be very good. A bit abrupt at times but I'm sure that I would get that way also if I had to answer the same questions over and over again. Especially from people like me who simply didn't read the install instructions closely enough. I recently upgraded to the newest version of Photo Classifieds and am very impressed with it.

I'm a relatively new user of DragonBytes software. I AM a paying customer of the Thank You mod pro version and it works very well. I presently have the Lite version of Gallery installed and have mixed feelings. At this time, I am really struggling with the decision to stick with it or go with PhotoPost. A couple of small missing but I think essential features is one reason and the fact that I can't seem to get a response at the Dragonbytes forum is the main reason. I am getting a database error. I posted about it at his forum and have received no response. I typically get a response at the PhotoPost forum at least within a couple of hours. From a style standpoint, that is where the polished Photopost has a bit of an advantage. A lot of options for small things like the frames around images and etc. that really help tailor it to the look that you want. I think that would be a nice feature to be added to the Pro version.

I have also asked about adding a link to the users gallery from the Postbit and also their Profile. To me those are very basic and essential features. I posted a question about it on the Dragonbyte site about 3 days ago and not a single response. I posted some code that ALMOST works but not quite. I'm sure that somebody who is a real coder could answer it within minutes but nothing.

At this point, I am leaning towards PhotoPost again due to the lack of support from DragonBytes. It is even causing me to have some buyers remorse about buying the pro version of the Thank You mod.

I admit though that the Gallery is a nice product and other than a couple of small things that should be standard even in the lite version, I think they have done a good job with it.

I was an avid photopost user (use on 4 sites) but am now looking for alternatives since they have raised the forum support yearly access from $39 to $99 a year. And wouldn't you know it, a week after mine expired I needed the info thats sitting in a support thread to move a photopost pro gallery to another server and to get it now it will cost $99 to get access to their support forums.

OK...I'm not a coder by any means so this took me longer than I really want to admit. I've seen this asked a few times though so here is what worked for me.

Edit template "Postbit".

Now you can put this where you want but this puts it just under the username in the Postbit.

In template "Postbit". Find:

Code:

{vb:raw post.onlinestatus}
Just after that, paste:

Code:

<div class="smallfont"><a href="http://www.yoursite.com/forum/dbtgallery.php?do=view_user&id={vb:raw post.userid}">User Gallery</a></div>
Of course change the URL to the actual URL to your specific forum.

By the way, the next thing I want to do is to change the link in the members profile to point to the DBGallery. I see no reason to have two different galleries so plan to disable the builtin VBulletin gallery. Hopefully it will be easier for me to figure out.

Anyone point me in the direction of what these errors show? I think its installed right but when I upload a photo I get the missing image and these errors at the top.

Found the problem and its fine now.

In image options > image upload path I had full path to where you want images uploaded to. Switched it back to the default dbtech/gallery/images/upload/ and its all working now with no errors.

When we go to delete an image the delete popup box flies in and flies halfway off the right hand side of the screen. Anyone know where to find the setting for this?

Nearest I can find is the left setting but cant find where to change it.

element {
display: inline;
left: 1315px;
top: 1417px;

I've installed this mod last week and everything went smooth and it is easy to get around, the two thing that i don't know is after upload a picture then it show a white page with save all , if i skip it or not it doesn't break any thing just wonder why it there.

The second thing is the comments system not support other language or unicode, is there any way to fix this. thank you.

Ps:Thank DragonByte for this nice mod.

Does this happen on a default (unmodified) skin? What's your resolution?

Make sure you have display_errors turned on in php.ini.
