I think the whole parse error thing here is funny...but it should be part of the instructions since it is so common. Ha. Just an opinion.

Is there a way that existing members can log in with their facebook. some have asked how they can tie their accounts together

Yes, login in your vB-Forum an use the "Connect to Facebook-Link", e.g. http://www.mydomain.com/forum/profile.php?do=fbb and follow the onscreen instructions...

I tried this and it will ask you to create an account. or says user name is already being used

You MUST set a link for logged-in users e.g. in the navbar: http://www.yourdomain.com/forum/profile.php?do=fbb
