i have hidden threads to guests, hidden calendar to guests but when i visit the event forum i have it still shows the "https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2009/08/8.gif Upcoming Events for the Next X Day(s)" with the Thread /event titles!! how can this be?

should it not say a message or hide this section all together?

If you are visiting, it may be using your permissions. Set up a test user and put them in the same usergroup as your registered users and see what happens.

Permissions are a bit funny with event forums. I never figured out a way to get thread/event moderation to work.

im definately visiting as a guest as i logged out and opened a different browser, it hides all the posts fine but the event summary bar in $navbits still shows

Strange. I just looked for the same issue on my test system, but mine is working correctly.

Try reinstalling the plugin overriding the existing installation. This will disconnect all existing event forums so this better be on a test system.

on live site :( its not such a big deal i suppose, because if they click it then cant see anything apart from the stndard vb access error. just would be nice to have something like this: see photoshop below

Something didn't install right. It won't show any events if they don't have permissions...wait...permissions. I think I know why!

Check BOTH your calendar AND forum permissions. I bet the calendar permissions still allow guests.

nah.. the permissions were correct and set to NO, meaning users cant see this calendar.. but they can within the event forum still

SamirDarji 08-25-2009 03:23 PM

If they can still see the forum, then that's the problem. Try turning off the thread viewing permission for the group. That should do it.

The permissions work funny sometimes in event forums when both forum and calendar permissions are set to two different settings. I had this issue when I couldn't get HTML to show in my event listings even though the HTML was on for the calendar. I had to turn it on for the thread too.
