In the admincp/options/settings group/Glowhost - Spam-O-Matic there are two (2) places for a key. One you get from Akismet [link] the other from StopForumSpam [link]. The two are different and the only two places you can input a key [other than Affiliate System: Affiliate ID and we are not talking about that].

So tell me, where do you input the Akismet key a second time? There is only one place that I know of.

I have already told you over and over and you dont seem to read my other posts. I said it goes in two places not 3. Inside this mod is place one and Admincp/settings/options/spam management is place two

Well mate you could have said spam management from the beginning and instead of all this hashing back and forth. BUT I still find no documentation for this mod that tells you to goto spam management and enter your Akismet API Key.

I already did in post 2553 as i said above you did not read my posts even know you replied back to it.
Now you have wasted my day I need to take a long break

in the readme file

4.2. Get API key for Akismet
and enter it in settings.
Just because it does not tell you the full path it is up to you as a forum owner to know everything about your settings and how all things work

Now mate you're getting out of line here by telling me what I should know or not know as a forum owner. I think you need to drop it now!

So as far as these two options:

1) vB Options - Spam Management
Anti-Spam Service
--Disabled
--Akismet
--Typepad Antispam Beta

2) Options - GlowHost Spam-O-Matic
- Askimet:Enabled

Would it make sense to set the first one to Typepad Antispam Beta
That way Askimet won't be scanning the message twice and will have 2 different scans?

Possible Bug:

I have Auto-Moderation: Post Action set to Moderate Post. The SOM log shows that a spammy post was detected and set to moderated, however there are not posts or threads waiting to be moderated.

Looks like SOM ignored my Auto-Moderation: Post Action setting and deleted the post anyway.

You would be best to ask your other mods first also check admin stats you will see it when you login to admin panel if you have it turned on also check mod logs

No other moderators on the site so I'm the only one with access to the moderation queue.

How do you know this? Did they make an announcement? What is their preferred way of communicating with their service then?

I found it in a couple of clicks !

They are still issuing blacklisted IP's and usernames, so you can manually add those, best to put them in your IP deny manager via cpanel, that way they get nowhere hear the registration page.
I'm a newbie but I think you can also put the usernames in the block list in the ACP

mykkal 02-28-2013 05:42 PM

oh well... that sucks but i'm glad I have one. I catch a few of those spammers everyday

I use everything I can, but this MOD has really helped, I was plagued this morning, but not a single spammer has got through in over three hours, so it must be working

john2k 03-04-2013 06:42 PM

SOM reports "5 Spammy Posts Automatically Moderated" on my forums front page.... however, when I look in the moderation queue there is nothing.

Any idea what might be causing the auto moderated posts to not be placed in the moderation queue?

You might have it set to automatically delete them in which case it wouldn't be in the moderation queue.

I have the "Auto-Moderation: Post Action" set to 'Moderate Post'

Not sure what else might be interfering in it.

tacklebox joe 03-06-2013 11:12 AM

hey guys i'm new to this so sorry for the naive question here but i installed glowhost on my forum site since then new users trying to register are having problems and can not register...need a little help on why this is happening. any advice would be greatly appreciated. i disable the VB spam management....thx! Joe

ForceHSS 03-06-2013 11:59 AM

Try and register yourself to see what the problem is

tacklebox joe 03-06-2013 12:07 PM

when a friend of mine tried registering he received the following message. when i disable spam-o-matic he was able to register and log in

"require_once(includes/functions_ghsom.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/register.php(338) : eval()'d code on line 10

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/functions_ghsom.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5_3/lib/php') in /home/content/31/10462831/html/forums/register.php(338) : eval()'d code on line 10"

You have not uploaded the files

tacklebox joe 03-06-2013 01:19 PM

i uploaded them to my FTP in the forum folder of the root directory. should i have done something different? i also uploaded the proper xml file in my admincp

ForceHSS 03-06-2013 01:41 PM

Did you first remove them from the upload folder or did you also upload the upload folder with all the files in it

tacklebox joe 03-06-2013 01:43 PM

uploaded the entire "upload" folder

ForceHSS 03-06-2013 01:55 PM

Try not to upload the upload folder only what is inside so many make that mistake

tacklebox joe 03-06-2013 02:34 PM

so I removed the upload folder from root directory and uninstalled it from my admincp. Now do I just upload the admincp and includes folders into the root directory or the forum folder under my root folder? thx for the help man!

tacklebox joe 03-06-2013 03:28 PM

i think i may have figured it out..........we shall see...thx again!

tacklebox joe 03-06-2013 03:43 PM

Nope NO GOOD....UGH!!! LOL:mad::D

ForceHSS 03-06-2013 03:57 PM

Just about to go to bed. When you open the upload folder you will see more folders inside them folders are files. Now as I am doing this on the iPad can't look at the files but all you need to do is take the files and place them inside the same name folders in your FTP then install the XML. If you are still having problems I will help you when I get up

tacklebox joe 03-06-2013 09:36 PM

thanks man! i really appreciate it. i did take the glowhost admincp folder and put it into the forums admincp folder and the glowhost includes folder into the forums includes folder then uploaded the product-glowhost xml file into my vb admincp BUT still came across same issue. what I am doing wrong?

tacklebox joe 03-06-2013 09:50 PM

thanks man! i did take the glowhost admincp folder and uploaded it to the forums admincp folder and took the glowhost includes folder and uploaded it to the fourm includes folder and uploaded the product-glowhost xml file into the product manager BUT still same issue. what am i doing wrong? thanks, Joe

tacklebox joe 03-06-2013 10:50 PM

i just took the individual php files from the glowhost admincp and includes folders and uploaded them into the corresponding folder names in my root directory. think I did it right this time??? Seems no issues yet but not sure.

Don't place admincp inside admincp. You place the contents of admincp inside the folder. If you want the content inside you may drop the one at a time, but the best method is to change the name of your upload folder to the name of your forum folder, and drop all contents to the *root* (one level higher in the tree).

Peafor 03-07-2013 10:50 AM

Quick and easy to install. Just what we need, thank you.

Just for information: Stop Forum Spam have currently disabled their API key due abuse problems so you can't send them data at the moment.
