Oh can I request to implement the chatbox so that the BB CODE drop down shows ALL THE TIME! Man I got users that bug the hell outa me asking HOW TO post a picture and stuff. I think that if the BB CODE was shown all the time people would see the IMG ICON and figure it out on their own. Thanks!

VBDev 10-05-2008 07:17 AM

That's an interesting and not to hard to implement option.

I'll add it to the todo list but I can't promise that all features requests will be implemented in the next version, it will depend of the time I have for that. :)

Yeah for sure I completely understand, thanks for considering it at least :)

Hey, VBDev, I'm currently using this modification with MySmilies vB, but it seems that custom smilies are not compatible with the shoutbox... could the next version try and find out/fix the problem I've noticed where the custom smilies only show the text code in the shoutbox?

You mean that they are parsed but don't show in the smilies line right ?

Just installed this chat on a new forum as below:

www.fixitgenius.com

Problem:
No chats show up if I use IE but all show up fine using Firefox?

Any ideas of a fix?

Regards

The Realist 10-06-2008 09:44 AM

If I collapse the chatbox the chats show up but as soon as I open the box backup the chats dont show up?

VBDev, great mod, so thank you very much
The issue I have is that when collapsing the chatbox (I only have 5 visible on collapse) the 5th entry always shows at the top. (Newest should be at top)
I have tried to change a few of the display settings but still the 5th entry pops up on top.
If the chatbox is not collapsed the entries appear fine.
This is not a major issue, but it is weird. Any suggestions? I have added a img of the error. Look at the time stamp to see what I mean. (No the entry is not a duplicate of the 4th one)
Oh and before I forget, there is also an extra line spaced between each entry on the collapsed chatbox where as on the open one, it displays fine. I'm using firefox, but it also does the same in Chrome, but in IE it collapses to so no entries.

Thanx in advance.

VBDev 10-07-2008 03:45 PM

Have you checked in other styles on your forum ?

big blue 10-07-2008 05:37 PM

Tried to install it but get this error....

Warning: require_once([path]/includes/functions_mgc_cb_evo.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/global.php(404) : eval()'d code on line 145

dreamer81 10-07-2008 05:44 PM

I installed this, and it works.

However, i find it irritating that you have to click refresh before other users posts are displayed.

Why not let them be pushed out to the client?

buurman 10-07-2008 06:14 PM

You can set the refresh rate, so just set it shorter, like 2 seconds?

About my question, I dont have any other styles installed, just the one I use, to prevent problems..

Any idea in what template or php to search to play with the settings?
Older versions worked just fine, but than again, also updated to 3.7.3 just now...

EDIT: never mind... I needed to revert a customized template.. now its fixed!

dreamer81 10-07-2008 06:54 PM

would be great if users could hide the chatbox completely. That is really my only concern.

Some users simply doesn't want this, and for those, a click on a X in the upper corner should hide it 4ever. untill they enable it in their CP again.

is this possible?? or perhaps a feature request?

I know they can minimize it, but it will still be partly visible.

CristianoDiaz 10-07-2008 07:29 PM

I am using vb 3.7.3 - if I upgrade to the latest version (1.0) of the chat box, the chat no longer works - when you input text, nothing is rendered - the whole chat area itself remains blank. Reverting back to any previous version fixes the problem.

gtcompscientist 10-07-2008 09:20 PM

Any word on updates to address the bugs?

Probyte 10-08-2008 01:00 AM

I noticed that I cannot edit the user group settings after I uninstalled MGC Chatbox Evo. It says there has been a database error, and I can completely see that it was caused by the chatbox.

It is uninstalled, but it still has the options to set it to the user groups, ect.

To uninstall it, I did the following.-

1.) Delete the product via the Admin CP.

2.) Delete all the files via FTP client.

How do I fix this?

Thanks,
Pyrobyte

You could just use the "Enable / Disable" feature in the "Manage Products" Screen

Skyrider 10-08-2008 06:56 AM

I'm not sure if you are familiar with this problem. But.. if you have multiple channels, you can't view the logs properly of those channels. You can view the first page of the logs, but if you go to page 2 it'll go to page 2.. but! It goes to page 2 of the first channel. It refuses to go to the page 2 of the selected channel.

I have a problem that has been annoying me for a while now. It was in version 0.5.0 and I updated to 1.0.0 and i still get it.

When i click the link to view archives of the chat box or to view it in a full page i get an error and my page reloads to the CMPS page with the shout box missing. (see pic)

i have reinstalled the cmps system, i have deleted the module 'news' and re loaded a fresh copy. I have even commented the foreach section out of the module which got rid of the error but not the reload in cmps and missing chatbox.

I get the same error whether i click on the archive link in my forums or the cmps page

anyone?

You certainly haven't uploaded all the files.

It's all a question of refresh rates. In all the chatbox this is like that and you are not supposed to click on the refresh button if your refresh rate is low :)

They can totally disable the chatbox from they usercp options (which is the place where options are always ;)).

Had you correcty upgraded to the new version :
1/ Total chatbox uninstall
2/ Upload of the new files
3/ Install new version

You have followed correctly the install instructions. Steps should have been 2 then 1.

Install the product again and then do step 2 and then 1 :)

The problem is not coming from the chatbox as it's located in the news.php file (at least the shown error).

What is the link url on which you clicked ? (full url plz)

It's not possible as is, but that's a very interesting idea.

You would mean small avatars, as for example the user avatar but in 15x15 format ?

Yes, that is what I like to achieve. But I think 15x15 is too small. I had a shoutbox on phpbb. I think there I had 40x40 (or 30x30).

I have set up my vb to have avatars of 80x80. That would be too big. But you might be able to use the custom avatar thumbnails. On my forum it is set to 60x60. I have no idea where you can set that size to your liking.

I have read that you could call the avatar picture with this code:

Code:

src='image.php?type=thumb&u=$user[userid]'
Unfortunately I have no clue which file generates the chat messages. I was not even able to find my chat messages in the source code of the generated page.

But if you disable the new module it works right ? I honestly think the problem is coming from the mod for your news.
