I followed your instructions (very easy) with the product upload and all, but once I finished it my site went blank. Uninstalled and removed all the files and it's all back to normal. I really needed this product but for some reason it messed with my forum. :(
Btw, I'm running 3.6.7.

i dont think using ad management would be the best option for this. if you only want to show the ads on 1 page then why use this tool?

i assume you would need to use an if statement to decide if the page is the forum home page and then add the code into the header section for the ad,.

skubaman 05-28-2008 10:55 PM

I have just upgrade to VB 3.7.1 and I am still using vB ad management version 3.14.
Could someone please point out for me what are the changes I need to make?

I do get a warning that some templates have been changed by version 3.7.1

Thanks

I tried putting the ad code in my threadbit template and it works in FF but not in IE 6 or 7. Can someone please suggest how I would alter my template or css to accomodate this ad:

Here is an example with it in a regular forum:
http://www.prenatalyogacenter.com/forums/birth-stories/

Here is an example in a forum with thread prefixes:
http://www.prenatalyogacenter.com/fo...ctor-exchange/

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What makes you think there will be a version 5 of this mod? The developer has not been online sinde december 2007 so I doubt there will an official update from him for this mod.

Actually, I just found an 'update' today: Advertisement System V2.1 Aka Ad Management

I was right there with you yesterday! I have installed this several times in the past and always just refered back here for instructions (I have a horrible memory). Well of course I come here and couldn't find it. It took me a while, but I got it worked out. So here you go:

1. Upload all of the files that are in the "uploads" folder. Be sure to maintain the folder heirarchy.

2. Go to your vB admincp, then "Plugins & Products" in the left hand menu, select "Manage Products". You will see an "Add/Import Product" link, click it.

3. Use the "Browse" button to locate the file called "vb_ad_management.xml". It is in the "vb_ad_management_402" folder. Check "Allow Overwrite" to "Yes". Then click "Import". The system will then import the product and let you know when it's done.

4. Once that is done. Do step #3 again except you will import a different file. It is called "vb_ad_management_english.xml" and is in the "languages" folder.

5. If you refresh your admincp, you should now see a new menu option on the left hand side called "vB Ad Management". That is where you will set everything up. It's pretty straight forward from that point on.

Good luck!

mrrijo 06-18-2008 06:31 PM

yes, iam lucky...i did it...thanks.. umwaaa...

True. Sort of. However, it works in 3.7, unlike this mod.

djbaxter 06-19-2008 12:41 AM

I know it's in here somewhere - can't remember where.

How do I change the label "Sponsored links" to "Advertisement"?

Added:

Found it - needed to edit phrases. :)

hossenpheffer 06-19-2008 02:28 PM

The issue below has been resolved: By reducing the advertisement_sponsors template to the following, it removed the collapsible icon along with the onclick function, but leaving the Sponsored Links title along with the ad images. After all, if viewers could collapse the advertisements, what good are they? Hope this helps somebody. . . Here's my current template code which works fine in Firefox and IE without scripting errors:

<br />
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<tr>
<td class="tcat" colspan="$vboptions[adintegrate_sponsors_rows]">
$vbphrase[adintegrate_sponsored_links]
</td>
</tr>
<tbody id="collapseobj_sponsors" style="$vbcollapse[collapseobj_sponsors]">
<tr>
$sponsors_adcode
</tr>
</tbody>
</table>
<br />

------------------------------
Disregard this issue!

I'm currently running this in 3.7.1 PL2 with "automatic settings" enabled. Most everything is working just fine, however when checking appearance in IE with script debugging turned on, I keep getting an error stemming from the advertisement_sponsors template. According the the script debugger, the illegal character is in the following code. With limited skill in coding, I've tried removing or changing many of the items without success. Any ideas of the issue? Here's a cut/paste from the script source:

<tr>
<td class="tcat" colspan="3">
<a style="float:right" href="#top" onclick="return toggle_collapse(\'sponsors\')"><img id="collapseimg_sponsors" src="images/buttons/collapse_tcat.gif" alt="" border="0" /></a>
The WLF Hotlist Forum is proud to be supported by the following sponsors.
</td>
</tr>

Thanks for any help!

Apart from that problem it all works great in 3.7.

Can anyone help me with this please?

workin good on vb 3.7.2

theparentpack 06-28-2008 07:29 AM

The links to the manual, installation/upgrade instructions, and FAQ are not working.

ETDC 06-28-2008 09:27 PM

Good to hear this works in 3.7.2 :) I'm assuming this is the best solution for multi-location ad placement? Does it support tracking i.e. phpAdsNew?

Anyone have any working examples I could see?

RedTyger - before I install, can you re-link to the manual and the installation and upgrade instructions? Cheers. :)

RedTyger has not been online since december 2007 so I would not count on him seeing your message.

glenbelt 07-01-2008 09:06 AM

I want to use this but am not sure how to install it :( as mentioned before the links to manual/installation aren't working.

Anyone able to help?

glenbelt 07-02-2008 08:16 AM

How do you install this mod? Anyone know how to get the installation instructions?

tommykjensen 07-02-2008 11:58 AM

I don't understand why you insist on installing a mod that the developer is no longer supporting and vital information is missing.

I have some issues with the latest version of this mod but the old version worked just fine. So why install this mod? Do you have a better product? For the most part of it, this one does what I need it to do. Yes, a little buggy here and there but quite functional. If you do have something better to share with us, please post a link or links so we can check those out. I'd love to have something a little more solid.

Thanks

tommykjensen 07-02-2008 07:04 PM

I don't have anything better I am just curious. I am using an older version without all the fancy banner sharing and it works on 3.7.2 but I am going to remove it soon simply because the developer is not around to support and update it (and because it has become big and bloated in my opinion). I might make a simple version for myself if I get the time.

ETDC 07-02-2008 07:41 PM

I think it's incredible that nobody in the community has developed an all-singing, all-dancing solution to a requirement that's so common! :eek: :)

Sorry to say so but you really should have checked when the developer was last online. He has not been online since december 2007 and on top of that the links to his server is not working. All signe that this mod is to be avoided. It appears to me that he has abandoned the mod. As for moving to graveyard, that is something I have suggested to the staff but they say they don't do that just because the author is not around.

You should restore the backup you took before upgrading.
