I send mails from the board so there should be no reason the mail function shouldn't work. I re-imported the hack. I double checked the template modifications and all according to the "readme".
What is confusing, I turned of "register on invite only" as I want any visitor to be able to register. In the setup (AdminCP) of the invite system it has this comment "The cron that gives out new invites will not run either" if set to no". This couldn't be the reason could it?

The status will stay pending until the person acepts it.
The fact that mail is not delievered could be caused by one of the following:
- The source and destination emails are the same (e.g you send it to webmaster@yoursite.com while your site send emails from that address also.)
- The receiver mailbox puts emails from your domain into junk box
- The message gets marked as spam by an anti spam program
