New Features

(Pro) Minimum Posts Per Day
  • Shoutbox access can be limited to users with a certain "Posts Per Day" count
  • Works in conjunctions with "Minimum Posts" limitation
  • Calculates posts since first join date, as seen in member profiles

have the pro version and this does not work for super admins

DragonByte Tech 05-03-2014 12:02 AM

That is correct, usergroups that are flagged as Shoutbox Managers are not affected by this (as well as many other restrictions) :)

Hi,

Thanks for this mod.

I installed this mod on a fresh vb 4.2.2 installation.

I can't post any message, and the shout is always in loading mode.

Any idea?

Hi,

After upgrade in 6.2.3, same problem, loading....

Please check your browser's error console for any JS errors.

Hi,

I have this line in error:

Code:

vbphrase['dbtech_vbshout_flagged_idle'] = "You are currently flagged as Idle. Click <a href="javascript://" onclick="%link%">here</a> to un-flag.";

jolinary 05-07-2014 04:00 PM

Ah I finally found the trouble came from a template that does not put himself updated when updates you hack a template that I modified, here it works, thank you.

NoMatt3r 05-11-2014 09:58 AM

Hi.

Links are not parsed/clickable. Didn't find any setting for this. Any idea?

And is it possible to drag and pull the chatbox like you can drag the writing form?

Disco_Dave 05-15-2014 09:18 AM

you need to put the fix in your php.ini file https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....68&postcount=2 something like this if you want to know the correct info to put in there you will find that info in your admincp/maintenance/view php info
Then scroll down until you see date. You will keep getting this error to do with the date until you put this fix in place

Disco_Dave 05-15-2014 09:59 AM

Thanks Forcehss, I'll see what my host can do.

You can read the readme.txt file for chat commands that will tell you what you can do :)

first off i would like to say great mod!

i had it working fine on my site with no issues but I recently moved to a new host and now find myself with an issues. hopefully its simple to resolve but Ill let you be the judge of that.

the shoutbox works fine when using a http url to access my forum but when a https url is used the chatbox is stuck on Loading with no apparent error messages. it was working previously on the old host via http and https but not on the new host.

any assistance is greatly appreciated!

thank you

I'm sorry to quote a 3 years old post, but i'm having a similar issue. I'm trying to migrate my forums from HTTP to HTTPS.
Currently i run on both (HTTPS is testing for now)
On HTTPS I am having the issues reported in the quote. Even when i "disable" HTTP (rewrite rule to HTTPS) it doesn't work.
However when I test on IE and press "show all content" it does seem to work. Are there any calls to non https locations in this mod that cause the issue?

Razwer 06-13-2014 07:23 AM

issue resolved. In vbsettings the url had to be updated with https.

DragonByte Tech 06-15-2014 06:14 PM

Glad you got it working :)

I am trying this out on my test board. Ideally, I don't want a chat box on the forum pages, but a chat room on its own navtab in vb4.2.1

Is there a way I can test this or do I need to go pro to try it out?

You can't use the pro version unless you buy it but you can see the pro version working on there site

Hi there,

Is it possible to allow this to appear in the Mod CP for those with only Moderator permissions, as opposed to only Administrators?

Sharingan_Okami 08-06-2014 11:56 PM

Im having a problem with this.

The shoutbox is only showing up for admins but not for any members or other groups.

Thats because you have not given them the permission to see go to Instance Management editthe instance1 scroll down to Instance Permissions and make sure Can View Shoutbox has been tick

Sharingan_Okami 08-07-2014 12:22 AM

It was ticked. But none of my members can see it. Only the staff. I will enable it for guests maybe that helps.

Sharingan_Okami 08-07-2014 12:31 AM

Sorry, i found the problem. I have the PRO version which allowed the option for minimum posts. It was set to 15, that's why new members could not see the shoutbox.

ketchup 08-18-2014 10:10 AM

Thank it works great

I've got a forum where users cannot see others users threads, and on shout box they can view when somebody replies that thread.

IE:

USER A CREATE "TEST"
USER B CANNOT SEE "TEST"
USER A REPLY "TEST"
USER B USING SHOUTBOX CAN SEE THAT USER MADE A POST ON THREAD "TEST"

Is it ok?

mytreehouse 08-28-2014 07:40 PM

How do people reset their comment color like it was the first time?
I do have a black and a white board style and the text color of the comments changes with the styles (white text becomes black text and visa versa). But when people change their color, the text color stays the same in both styles. The problem is, for example, when people choose a white text color, the comments can't be read in the white board style anymore (white on white). So how do they change it back like it was?

They will simply receive a no permissions error when clicking the thread, there's no problem :)

Unfortunately it's not feasible for me to check those kind of permissions :(

You can run
Code:

UPDATE user SET dbtech_vbshout_shoutstyle = NULL
(remember to add your table prefix) to reset all shout styles. I would then edit the problematic colours out of the colour template under the vBShout Templates group.

Just installed it today, one question, how would you put the entire chat at the bottom of the site opposed to the top? Thanks.

Alan_SP 09-04-2014 01:16 PM

If you read instructions received with vBshout mod, you'll find this pretty explaining instructions:

Quote:

/*================================================= ==============/*================================================= =====================*\
|| 2. Custom Shoutbox Locations ||
\*================================================ ======================*/

The method for displaying the Shoutbox in custom locations have been
improved upon, and as such the old display method is no longer valid.

If you enter the Instance Manager you'll see that there's a "varname"
display there.

The new syntax for displaying the shoutbox instance is:
{$show[vbshout_VARNAME]}
where VARNAME is the varname you found in the Instance Manager.

For instance, if the "varname" is "instance1" then the code to place
in your template of choice is:
{$show[vbshout_instance1]}

MoK 09-06-2014 09:06 AM

Hi,

I will show the shoutbox in only one custom Template, so i {vb:raw show.vbshout_instance1} in my custom. The shoutbox is visible buy says nerver ending "loading".

Can anyone help.me?

Greetings :)

EDIT: ok the missing {vb:raw footer} was the problem

iamjubee 09-07-2014 06:44 PM

I have purchased the PRO version and need clarification on the PM notification.

When someone sends a PM, the notification is made on the main shoutbox. However, a tab does not appear unless you click on the username and select Send Private Message to that user. Only then a new tab will appear of the PM conversation. Is there any way where a PM tab is created automatically when a user sends a PM?

ozzy47 09-07-2014 06:46 PM

Questions regarding the PRO version need to be asked on the developers site in the pro support forum for the mod. :)

huskermax 09-16-2014 02:24 PM

Can you link to the vBShout from another website? We would like to link to our vBShout box from our main page at huskermax.com. Our BBS is on a different server and I have it above the footer. So the link would load the main page of the bbs up the page would load down at the footer level. Maybe with some kind of anchor or something?

tbworld 09-16-2014 06:58 PM

The reason you use a chatbox/shoutbox on vbulletin is for the association to the user information database. If your are coming from another server will you already be authenticated with vbulletin? Not that I like the plan, but you could load vbulletin core and your chatbox in a specially crafted IFRAME on your main page.

Depending on what you are doing you might just want a 3rd party chatbox. :)

Our shoutbox in on a vBulletin board. But our BBS is part of a large sports site. We had to put the two sites on different servers to handle the load. I think I got this figured out with you and and another guys help on the anchor question on the main vb4 forum.

huskermax 09-17-2014 12:01 PM

How do you shut off the notifications to users post counts. I have all notifications off that I can find in the settings but it is still notifying when users hit a certain post count.
