A lot of small (and a bit bigger) things, but it's mainly a full recode of the old PHP/XHTML code. With that recode, it will be much easier to expand DownloadsII in future versions (and with better security).

I will release a version 5.0.8 with the new security tokens for solving the CSRF security issue fixed in vB 3.6.10/3.7 RC4. But you can upgrade already to those vB versions without any problems as the new security system is backwards compatible. The fixed version will be available within a few days.

@sweeps 78: It's running fine on RC4, I just upgrade myself last night with a running version of Downloads II and vb 3.7 rc3.

If you hate reverting and editting templates every upgrade like I do, just have a look at the TMS (template management system) which is also a mod here on vb.org.
It's 1 time a lot of work doing all template edits again, but after that you can upgrade vbulletin without having to revert and do the templates again every time.

vBulletin 3.6.10/3.7 RC4 is fixing a CSRF security issue. Version 5.0.8 also applies this security fix to DownloadsII. We advise you to upgrade as fast as possible.

Pay For Download Access Feature

Is there any chance in hell that you would consider adding an option to have specific downloads that you must pay for say using Paypal first that would then allow you to download the file only after payment is received.

This is by far the best download mod designed. Since coders seem unable to make a solid shopping cart for VB why not just add that to this mod. I think you would become the MOD God if you add this in.

Please consider this feature and then add it in soon! LOL :D

Your first thought was correct, upload and overwrite files, then reimport the product file with setting "overwrite" to yes.

NEVER uninstall the xml file !!!! or you will lose all your downloads Links !

Are you using GARS? If you also use the latest version of GARS, you will get the "Fields marked in RED must be filled in!" error when uploading a file. I provided a fix here on the GARS forums.

Sorry for the stupid question, but I'm a little confused about upgrading... So, after we upload everything in the /upload folder, do we re-import the product-downloads.xml file that we just downloaded in the ZIP, or do we re-import a different XML file on our server?

You just re-import the product-downloads.xml you can find in the zip file, with the overwrite option turned on.

strange.

i installed a new forum ( fresh 3.7-4)...and this hack is the first ima install on it.
i uploaded all files to their directorys and when i start to import the pruduct, i get this error :

That's strange as it's a clean install. There can't be a duplicated description field as it's created there for the first time (by renaming desc which was added earlier in the process).

Uninstall the product - if possible - and have a look at your database with phpMyAdmin. Remove all 8 dl_ tables if they are still present after uninstalling the product. Then try installing it again.

If you continue having this error, pm me your site URL and an admin account for it - if possible - and I will have a look at it.

Using phpMyAdmin, navigate to the dl_files table and change the name field in the structure. At the moment it's a 50 characters varchar field.

You probably modified the DownloadsII (5.0.8) templates and didn't revert them, so you are using pre-5.0.8 templates without the security tokens.

hya can you tell me what happens pls if:

i have one usergroup to have say 500 meg upload space each. i move a user to that group he then uploads 200 meg of files.

i then move him to another usergoup who cannot upload and then move him back again to the one that can does he get another 500 then or will it still count the files that he upped before?

if anyone can answer this that knows would be appreciated

The "upload stop" is calculated for every upload depending on the circumstances, so it's counting the files he uploaded before.

i just installed a second hard disk on my server since my first one is full. However my question is how do i import the files to the second server since tey arent located in the directory. not using raid this time or ever

Putting them on another server is not possible with this version yet.
The only thing you could do is move them and then link to them. However, that would mean an awfull lot of work if you have a lot of files.
You could do it that way however with new files but only if you add them yourself and not your users, because uploads will still go to the upload directory when they don't know where to link to and how linking is done (you have to calculate the size of the file yourself).
