revmitchell 12-29-2006 04:03 AM

I just loaded vb shout and it stays stuck on loading. I have uninstalled it from both root directroy and manage products several times but it does the same each time.

What vB Version are you using?

theassasin 12-29-2006 07:02 AM

i've successfully installed shoutbox in my vbulletin community site. Have a few questions, here it goes:
1/ how can i edit the size of the VB SB?
2/ Can I set the number of posts? Is there an auto-prune feature?
3/ Can I limit access to the SB?

THanks a lot.

Devil Woman 12-30-2006 12:43 AM

I am not sure if this has been posted but 166 pages is alot to go through so early in the morning so my apologies if it has.

I have had the shoutbox installed now for some months and I have recently started having a problem with it which is the part where you enter your message doesn't always show even though the settings in the admincp are set saying a usergroup can post etc.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the shoutbox and still no luck, any help is appreciated.

I am using vbulletin 3.6.4.

Shazz 12-30-2006 03:11 PM

To the correct directory?

revmitchell 12-30-2006 03:44 PM

That is what my problem was. I loaded it into

http/vb/images/styles/tielchrist/images/vbshout.php

I backed it out to http/vb/vbshout.php

and it is working fine now.

Have the editor position set to none
Then insert the code manually under the navbar or where ever.

rogersnm 12-31-2006 07:54 PM

In the shoutbox options set the option for the position to none and then add $Shoutbox to each forumhome template you want it to show up in.

I also posted this over at vbHackers..

Whenever I try to use " and & in the shout it comes out as &amp or &quot. Anyone know why?

Thanks and a happy new year ;)

Sorry, I do not know. I tried following the directions that were given to you, but just like you I do not see a 'none' option either... then again, Im not using the version from this thread, I am using v2.1 of the shout box.

Hello,

Is it possible to show Shoutbox on the left sidebar? I'm talking about this hack.

Thank you in advance. :)

this is important, really should be on the main post, but anyways i thought id repeat it since it was what 70 pages ago.

if u replace your vbshout.php with this one Brad made you will be able to use stuff like ""*&^%$#@! in the shoutbox

thanks to Brad :)

Shazz 01-03-2007 08:32 PM

All around the vbshout.php has many errors, Meeks has solved about all of them...
Alot of them are unsafe

DarthLamer 01-05-2007 03:12 PM

I asked if this script used much of the CPU resources.

da420 01-05-2007 03:14 PM

Depends on your server, some can handle it no problem, some not so much... I prefer the flatfile version which I run on my site.... hardly any hit on the CPU at all...

One site was slow and the other wasen't

tekstylez 01-06-2007 02:48 PM

I tried installing the WOL addon and was getting errors, so I uninstalled vbshout, reinstalled and now i am getting the same error "Loading..." Also recieving the following db error..

Code:

Invalid SQL:

                      select s.*, u.username, u.usergroupid from shout s
                      left join user u on (u.userid = s.s_by)
                      order by s.sid desc limit;

MySQL Error  : You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3
Error Number : 1064

Any idead what I can do to fix this?

Of course it's the server. What else would it be? My site was slow with this mod and slowed the server down so much that I had to disable this mod because they suspended my account because I was using too many resources, once I did so my host reported that the server load dropped 50%, moved to a VPS and reenabled this hack and it was a lot better. Then I found the flat file version and haven't looked back since.

DarthLamer 01-07-2007 11:24 AM

where can i get this flatversion.

rogersnm 01-07-2007 11:25 AM
