Ive just installed this and when I tried to moderate a spam posts, clicked Spam-O-Matic then clicked Proceed button, nothing appeared as in empty page.

Am I missing something?

I have v4.2.0 and didn't see any installation errors.

QBart2011 01-15-2013 11:33 PM

After installing SOM ( 2.0.1 ) on my fresh copy of VB 4.2 it worked great until the new upgrade came out.. Upgrading it started to cause functions_newpost.php(532) : eval()'d code on line 26 errors so I simply uninstalled and re-installed it which solved all the problems.. This by far is the best Spam Add-On I have ever seen..

Hey guys,

I am regularly getting emails from people with difficulty registering. They get the following error:

Quote:

"Registration denied, this forum runs an active policy of not allowing spammers. Please contact us via the "Contact Us" page link if you believe this is in error."
I have IP Check - disabled
Username check - enabled
Email check - enabled

Akismet and StopForumSpam are all enabled

This guy trying to register was going for the username, "Timm". Someone else also had an issue and their username as was "asfii". I'm thinking the dual letters is somehow throwing a trigger on the Username check?

I still get a LOT of spam registerations - probably 10 per day - luckily all with links under post count of 5 get auto moderated so I have a chance to review, but it's still a pain in the ass and didn't exist before.

What are other options to prevent false registrations?

Take a look at the logs and you will see exactly what is triggering the blocked registrations. I recommend to turn off username checks and turn on IP checks for the best results.

AlpineZone 01-16-2013 08:31 PM

Thanks ... stupid q. but where are the logs?

I love your product otherwise. It made my life SO much easier :)

AlpineZone 01-16-2013 08:31 PM

Nevermind. I foudn it. AdminCP --> Statistics and Logs. Thanks!

GlowHost.com 01-16-2013 08:41 PM

Take a look at the screenshots in the first post, or the link below should help too...

Enable email and IP check and disable username check and that will stop the majority of your problem.

AlpineZone 01-16-2013 08:42 PM

I wonder if they are getting smarter. I had IP and eMail turned on earlier and still getting 8 - 10 registrations per day like this:

2013-01-04 23:23:53 120.40.148.164 qwijk0b6t reiojdjsfk@yeah.net Passed StopForumSpam checks. Sent to vBulletin Registration System.

I have Remote IP Expiry set at 45. I bumped it down after I thought I had some false positives on IP. ... what's a good number people are using?

mupshur 01-17-2013 03:06 AM

Installed thanks

final kaoss 01-17-2013 06:20 PM

updated it thanks, is it compatible with ipv6 ip addresses yet?

Big Engine 01-17-2013 08:53 PM

Updated, thanks.

netsultants 01-17-2013 09:10 PM

I changed the name of the admincp folder and the new name is in the config file.... Can I just put your file into the renamed folder or does it need to be called admincp?

Unfolded90 01-19-2013 05:37 PM

Did this only happened after you installed this plugin?

Unfolded90 01-19-2013 11:13 PM

Yep , Once its active it does this, once disabled its fine

any error logs

Unfolded90 01-20-2013 12:08 AM

Nope

ForceHSS 01-20-2013 12:45 AM

the above link no longer works if you can post another one so I can check it. Also check you have configured all settings correctly and you have the right files installed in the right folder. A fresh install of all files and xml might help

Unfolded90 01-20-2013 12:46 AM

<a href="http://www.mmo-trading.com/newthread.php?do=postthread&f=86" target="_blank">http://www.mmo-trading.com/newthread...ostthread&f=86</a>

ForceHSS 01-20-2013 12:50 AM

Follow the other steps above to see how that helps if that does not work could be a conflict with other plugins so disable all custom plugins and leave this one on

Unfolded90 01-20-2013 04:03 AM

Disabled every addon i have, still the same

Unfolded90 01-20-2013 04:11 AM

Got it working, Deleted and Re-uploaded files, Must've been an error from 1 of them?

ForceHSS 01-20-2013 04:22 AM

Or a setting, good you got it fixed.

This is what I get when I click on "Glowhost Spam O Matic Logs" in statistics and logs in my admin CP.

Is that normal ?

http://i47.tinypic.com/2nbw1aw.jpg

Snowhog 01-21-2013 04:17 PM

We are using version 2.0.2. Can I assume that we can upgrade to 2.1.0 without having to remove anything?

No it is not!

What is the URL in ACP for "GlowHost - Spam-O-Matic Log" under "Statistics & Logs"?

It should be similar to: http://www.myforum.com/forum/admincp/glowhostspamomatic.php

That is the plug-in manager.

%3F is hex for ?
%3D is hex for =

plugin.php%3Fdo%3Dproduct becomes - ...plugin.php?do=product

You should be able to reach plug-in manager with that URL. The page you posted looks like a default search page that loads when the URL is invalid. Seems like a URL decoding problem.

I usually see for plug-in mgr -
..admincp/plugin.php?do=product (but no index.php here) -

..admincp/index.php?loc=plugin.php?do=product

Do you see "GlowHost - Spam-O-Matic Log" under "Statistics & Logs" in ACP?

Try pasting (for the log): ...admincp/glowhostspamomatic.php

Sorry, yes I do see "GlowHost - Spam-O-Matic Log" under "Statistics & Logs" in the ACP.

jcgriff2 01-21-2013 05:37 PM

Can you access other areas in ACP, specifically those under "Statistics & Logs"?

Did that URL come up for Stats & Logs/Glowhost or Plugin Manager?

I do see Glowhost in Stats & Logs in your screenshot - http://i47.tinypic.com/2nbw1aw.jpg

The other logs seem to work fine.

That URL comes up when I click on Glowhost-spam-o-matic in statistics and logs.

Did you just upgrade to 2.1.0?

Or did you just install for the 1st time?

If the latter, I suggest uninstalling, then reinstalling the XML.

It seems very odd to me that the URL for plug-in manager with hex chars no less is coming up for the Glowhost log.

No problems FTP'ing the modules up?

glowhostspamomatic.php is located in your /admincp directory?

functions_ghsom.php " " in /includes dir?

cpnav_glowhostspamomatic.xml " " in /includes/xml dir?

Then you installed product-glowhostspamomatic.xml via ACP Plug-in Manager?

Apologies for asking -- just want to make sure.

Thank you so much for your help and patience, I have it working properly now.

I think I must have missed or screwed up this step.

Did you recently upgrade vB itself?

A thread from vB.com similar to your issue - https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...=1#post2331362

Can you access the plug-in manager?

What is the URL that opens the plug-in manager?
  1. /admincp/index.php?loc=plugin.php?do=product
  2. /admincp/plugin.php?do=product

Are you getting SQL errors?

jcgriff2 01-21-2013 07:41 PM

You had version 2.02 installed & working back on January 1, 2013?
