I'm having a few problems with this hack.

I installed the hack (bloody thing took me over an hour of file edits), everything seems to have installed perfect, along with the install file, etc. I can add teams, but when i try to join a team i created, it says its sending out the PM, but never does. How do i add a team leader?

Also, i added some private forums, but i would like them somewhere else on my forum (or maybe even link off an existing forum), how would i go about doing this? I looked all over the SQL and couldnt find the table its stored in.

subnet_rx 04-21-2005 03:30 AM

I love this team integration, but about the password thing, is that to get in the forums?

Is this like a group where you can apply for the group and be admitted or rejected?

Marco van Herwaarden 04-21-2005 12:52 PM

Just a quick status update:
- I have spoken to Miz. Since he is only once in every few weeks at home because of his work, he will not be able to further develop or support this hack much. He agrees on me creating a bugfix release.
- I haven't been able to write 1 line of coding yesterday (RL work, and spend half my day to remove a Trojan i was stupid enough to catch).
- Still need to be finished: Problems joining a team and error after posting.

Hope to have all this finished today or tomorrow. Just need to find a liitle time to work on it.

subnet_rx 04-21-2005 01:23 PM

thanks for working on this, definitely a good addition to the community.

Curll 05-13-2005 10:17 PM

Any recent news?

iceytdot 05-13-2005 10:57 PM

were the bugs ever fixed for this, cuz it sounds like it can be an amazing hack .. but i just read thru some pages an seen the bugs, so i was wondering if whats there to download now is the one thats not buggy?

RapCapital 05-13-2005 11:57 PM

Does this work for 3.0.7

Niroj 05-15-2005 01:31 PM

did the update version by MarcoH64 get released??

im having a few problems. if a user sends a request to join a group. when the team-admin accepts....it goes into a blank page. and if the admin tries inviting someone...i get PM, saying use the link in userCP. but there is no such link in there!!

pls help

Marco van Herwaarden 05-15-2005 01:35 PM

Hmm actually i didn't spend any time after my last post on this.

I had to do some other things first and after that i have been out of the country and overloaded with work. I will have a look if i can do anything somewhere next week.

Bulletsway 05-23-2005 09:42 PM

MarcoH64 , Have you had a chance to modify this hack at all ? This would be real nice on my forum . If you or anyone have figure this to work with vb 3.0.7 please post up ..

NxTek 07-02-2005 07:10 PM

I made the changes per "file changes.txt", but when I went to the admin to do the "template_changes.txt", I get this error:

Code:

Invalid SQL:
        SELECT teams.*, teams.name AS username,

        COUNT(user.userid) AS totalmembers,
        sum(user.posts) AS posts,
        sum(user.reputation) AS reputation
                FROM teams AS teams
        LEFT JOIN user  ON(teams.teamid = user.teamid)
        WHERE teams.teamid =0
        GROUP BY teams.teamid

mysql error: Table 'forums.teams' doesn't exist

mysql error number: 1146

I taken the liberty to create a version of this hack that is 100% the same as Miz version, only it has some bugfixes in it so people can at least install this hack (even when using a prefix) and run it secure (fixed some possible SQL injections).

I also updated the install instructions to avoid editing errors.

I plan still to incorporate a fix for the no permission error on post a thread in a private forum (and find out why i can't accept a new member to a group on my testboard). When this is finished (hopefully tomorrow) i will post my version here in this thread.

It is NOT my intention to take over Miz's work, so i will remove my version after Miz returns or withdraw this hack (reading back this thread here makes me wonder if he will want to support this hack more, couldn't blame him if he doesn't).

PS Don't start asking for modifications, i will only fix a few bugs in the current versions that are serious enough to make this hack not functional for some people.

we wait :disappointed:

Marco van Herwaarden 07-03-2005 10:31 AM

I am sorry, but other things (real life work, family, my own hacks and payed work) have gotten in the way of looking further into this. I have a half fixed (and more broken, but hey you must make a mess first when trying to clean) version somewhere around, but i doubt i will have time for this soon.

poetic 07-11-2005 03:53 AM

can someone help me.

when someone trys to join the team, it only allow the admins of the team to vote for that person.

it doesnt let them choice weather they can be on the team or not.

Tigur 07-27-2005 06:10 AM

Out of curiosity is there a way to modify this hack to be automated with paypal? For example I have a website and I offer users their own private forum for $20 (one flat fee) and would be easier if the forum purchaser can administer the forum themselves?

o1dirtydog 08-16-2005 07:44 PM

seems like a interesting idea... but not worth all the edits.

and the fact that you have to use team, well that stinks.

MiskaTorn 08-19-2005 08:34 PM

How do I set who is the owner of the team?

csidlernet 08-20-2005 05:37 AM

Whythanks this just what i've been looking for!

is anyone going to post any of the fixed versions of this hack? I installed it and there are all sorts of problems. Mainly the fact that people get PM invites without anywhere to click as far as joining and when a person applies for a group, the poll is all screwed up and comes up the same poll for every user that applies. I noticed that the forumdisplay.php part of the install file is all screwy with errors.

DonLKSAB 08-29-2005 09:21 PM

Did anyone get the join team info to show up in the UserCP?
If so how did you do it?

Everything else seems to work fine.

This looks interesting; I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for all your work to put it together!

DonLKSAB 09-17-2005 06:22 PM

Anyone managed to get the invite thing to show up in the usercp?

I wanted to send Miz a PM, but his account doesn't let him. So I'll just post it here. Hopefully he can read it sometime.
--------------------------------------
Just wanted to say that the team hack is one of the greatest hacks i've seen. Don't let those haters get you down. I appreciate what you've done.

thanks

ryan

DonLKSAB 09-24-2005 05:01 AM

Yeah its realy cool.

Ryans.
Did you manage to get the invite thing to show up in the UserCP?

/DonLKSAB

ryans 09-24-2005 10:20 PM

Nope. I uninstalled it. I really liked it but until there is a newer release I can't use it. there is a site that has it fully functional at http://www.tunerfriends.com

Beng Yeow 09-28-2005 12:01 AM

Can some kind soul please help clean this hack up, its very unstable but its a very useful hack.

NxTek 10-04-2005 06:09 PM

Will this be ported to 3.5?

Unless some super programmer takes this over. This item is dead and should probably be removed from vb.org as it's just a waste of time to us people that can't program.

NxTek 10-05-2005 06:28 PM

I agree.

Zachariah 10-06-2005 02:43 PM

I have not played with it, or read what is wrong, but I love the idea and might make it VB3.5

What in a good list is the major problems ?

This is an excellent idea, I'd like to use it for groups on all of my forums so that I don't have to make a new forum, set permissions, etc. for each new group. Look forward to seeing it ported over if possible.

sarpicaste 11-05-2005 12:26 AM

I dont have a list of problem, but I do thank Zachariah for his offer and I hope it capitalizes and we get the 3.5 running soon.

Thanks!

Spent a few days going through tidying the code and fixing spelling mistakes.

Now at a state can use it.

:)

You're running 3.5?

If not - Zachariah, will you be porting it?
