Well thats why you have moderators that you can trust ;)

MaDCaT75 09-04-2003 10:08 PM

Also... can someone make an addon to this that re-directs a user to "page not found" page when they hit the submit button or something?

Anyone? :(

Keyser S?ze 09-08-2003 04:48 AM

installed vb 2.3.2

excellent hack!!

pixelghetto 09-08-2003 04:36 PM

I'm having trouble installin' this hack, as I am not sure about how to do the "mySQL prompt" bit of the hack. Can anyone help me out, as I installed it and when I make a user "miserable" I get back a database error. :cry:

MaDCaT75 09-09-2003 03:05 AM

Can someone please tell me how to make it so that moderators can put someone as miserable?

MaDCaT75 09-09-2003 08:43 PM

anyone?

bandit022 09-11-2003 01:10 AM

awesome hack!

just what i needed for a few select "bad apples"

but one question... is there a reason that miserable users can't view the "who's online"?

i'd like for the miserble users to be able to see the who's online at the bottom of forumhome, just so that they don't begin to wonder if someone is screwing with them.

thanks

-bandit

MaDCaT75 09-11-2003 02:37 AM

But isnt that the point of the miserable user hack? To screw with their heads?

I am looking for the same thing, I have two super moderators that only have access to that mod CP and I have added Xenon's hack to edit users, I have manged to get the radio buttons inside the mod CP and have all in place, but it wont save because I dont know what code to put to give them that option.

I am in need of the same solution as well, I thought I had it but I didnt (close though)

Thanks

Keyser S?ze 09-24-2003 09:04 PM

is there anyway to remove the red text? i dont want ppl relizeing they are banned (miserable)

MaDCaT75 09-24-2003 09:51 PM

The people dont know that they are miserable.... only mods and admins can see the red text.

And also they will think its a problem with the forum server when trying to go anywhere.

Keyser S?ze 09-24-2003 11:42 PM

is there any way to make it so only admins see it? not mods

Blue91 09-30-2003 11:19 PM

Hello all,

Great hack... I just installed it and tested it, and it works GREAT! However!!!.... when I click on a thread, at the top of the page, on every post, this is there....

Quote:

Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/virtual/site341/fst/var/www/html/forums/global.php:395) in /home/virtual/site341/fst/var/www/html/forums/admin/functions.php on line 1573
I looked at the lines listed in each file and both are a simple " } " on a line all by itself.

How do I fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Blue91 10-01-2003 12:18 AM

NM, fixed it. Just uploaded the original global.php again from the zip and redid the changes specified, and all seems fine now. Wierd.

Anyways, GREAT HACK!

maestrosdelweb 10-05-2003 12:06 AM

It seems like an efective way to get rid of some of my not useful users.

Thanks for the great hack.

weewilly 10-06-2003 11:35 AM

All I can say about this hack is....

Awesome!
*clicks install

PAINTBALLM 10-11-2003 08:28 PM

hey man since you wrote this hack, I wanted to know if you or someone could modify it so when they try to access your site, it loads a 2 frame page, the top frame saying "you are banned, while you are banned you are only able to see our sponsors websites, and you will not have access to our forums until your ban is up". And then it lets them pick from a drop down of sponsors which it would load in the bottom frame.. I think that would be a great addition to this hack :)

syedakm 10-12-2003 02:10 AM

I am getting the following error when i type the MySQL error, need help

syntax error near unexpected token 'smallint(5'

MrNase 10-22-2003 01:49 PM

it may have been mentioned: great!!!!

thank you sooo much :)

KuraFire 10-22-2003 02:18 PM

I'm not sure if anyone has suggested this yet, but...

it would be an even more useful hack if it would also (optionally) let you make certain IP-addresses be miserable, instead of users/usergroups.

Why? Suppose you have 2 members, who live in the same building. One of 'm is an ass, the other is fine. If you only block one user, they're likely to figure out that you made *some* sort of change to his/her account. If you block their ip address(es), they'll not know why and reckon it's an ISP/routing problem instead (because that's far more likely then). :)

Can be WAY more effective, that way ^_^

i still wanna see this for vbulletin 3 ;)

MrNase 10-22-2003 02:38 PM

would be a nice "nice to have" :)

Iam testing it right now, the frontpage isn't loading for me. absolutly great! :)

I have the IP based misery working in my forums. In fact I have applied it to most of the anonymizers and a few users. It is working like a charm. But I never did an Admin CP interface for it and I enter the information into an array of IP addresses in the php source.

I am not sure if this would interest anyone. I suppose I can make an Admin CP interface for it as well. :)

Would be nice. If you could send it to me I could also do it for vB3, but that's up to you :)

trekwarfare 10-24-2003 06:48 PM

WOW! I don't have a lot of user on my site yet, but this is NICE. A real good way to deal with an annoying user.

Thanks!!

djnoz 11-03-2003 03:48 AM

After playing around a bit, I installed this in VB3... it wasn't a full hack though. I just added the miserable code to global.php and then added the miserable column to the user table.

To make it work you have to run the query manually for each user that you want as miserable.

Here's my implementation:

Open miserable.txt and run the query
Apply the first modification to global.php ONLY and upload it

For each username you want miserable, run this query

update user SET miserable="1" WHERE username="xxx";

replace xxx with username

Not the cleanest hack in the world but we were desperate for it, :P

KuraFire 11-03-2003 07:42 AM

djnoz, it can be done a lot easier than that on vB3 :)

For this to be applied on a vB3 board, you really should just make a new (secondary) usergroup called "Miserable Users", make it non-public and put people in that group (along with their normal group, ie. the Miserable usergroup has no additional permissions anywhere, it's just important to note the usergroupid). Then in global.php, put the Miserable code and make it dependant on the usergroupid of the Miserable usergroup, check for it in $bbuserinfo[usergroups] (iirc)

HP409ss 11-07-2003 05:47 AM

Awsome Hack. I had so much fun watching our trouble makers try to figure out what is worng.

drumsy 11-08-2003 11:26 PM

How can I dial this down a bit?

As described by Kurafire, this way works great on vB3!! :)

I simply changed the first line of the global.php addition to:

if($bbuserinfo[membergroupids] == MEMBERID) {

Where memberid=the new usergroup id :)

I used membergroupid because I kept the users main usergroup as 'registered', so the new miserable group is in his membergroupids record. If that makes sense!

Thanks for the hack! It's horrible LOL

GMfullsize 12-03-2003 03:28 AM

I am trying to install this hack but...

How do I do the first part? How do I get to the MySQL prompt?

I have a couple members I would really like to do this to. Thanks

Nice one. That had me stumped for ages ... I'll have to try that out ;)

Well most hosts which provide servers will have a MYSQL admin pannel. In there you you will have a section to run a queries against the DB. If you dont have that a good tool to have installed is Webmin. It will allow you to do other cool things along with what you need for the DB queries.

Thanks, I got it working so dont come to our site cause the other admins may put you on it LOL

I am just messing with you.
You can probably figure out who this is. ;)

influence 12-05-2003 04:41 PM

BIg suggestion,

how about having sending a junkload of pop up's on the user . enough to freeze his pc and force him to restart . Then he will get tired of restarting, registering new email account and all that and just give up

KuraFire 12-06-2003 10:55 AM

Miserable Users for vB3 - NO FILE EDITS NECESSARY!

This vB3-version works with a new usergroup of your choice. Make a new usergroup, call it Miserable People or whatever you want, and note what usergroup id it is.

Next, put this code in your phpinclude_start template in vB3. Make sure to edit the $miserableid variable (at the start) and change it to the usergroupid of your Miserable People usergroup.

PHP Code:

// Miserable Hack for vB3
 // Ported by KuraFire to vB3, original vB2 version by Zzed
 // #######################################################
 // Put the id of your Miserable Usergroup here:

$miserableid 22;
 if (
strpos($bbuserinfo['membergroupids'], ','))
 {

$ids explode(','$bbuserinfo['membergroupids']);
 }
 else
 {

$ids = array($bbuserinfo['membergroupids']);
 }
 if(
in_array($miserableid$ids) OR $bbuserinfo['usergroupid'] == $miserableid)
 {

$glitch rand(60120);
     for(
$x=0$x<$glitch$x++)
     {
         echo
' ';

sleep(1);
     }

$vboptions['floodchecktime'] *= 10;

$glitch rand(0100);
     if(
$glitch 90)
     {

$vboptions['enablesearches'] = 0;
     }

$glitch rand(0100);
     if (
$glitch 80)
     {
         if (
$glitch 50)
         {
             exit;
         }

$templatecache['headinclude'] = '<META HTTP-EQUIV=\"refresh\" CONTENT=\"5; URL=/index.php\" />' $templatecache['headinclude'];
     }
 }
 unset(
$ids$glitch$miserableid);

Save your phpinclude_start template. Assign people you want to suffer to the new usergroup. You can just make it their Secondary usergroup (along with any others you want), you can also make it their Primary (not recommended).

Enjoy :)

Silverstangs 12-20-2003 08:43 AM

I just installed the hack on v2.3.3 with some minor changes, tested it and it works great.

Clicks install

Janitor 01-03-2004 04:39 PM

Be nice if they made a hack that would have a big dong popup for the banned users lol
