You're in luck, my FTP server has just started working.

Try using this:

Code:

<?php

chdir("..");
require('./global.php');

$title="Yes-its-free.Com - Your Highway To The World's Free Stuff!";

$forumurl="http://www.yes-its-free.com/vbbs";

$archiveurl="http://www.yes-its-free.com/vbbs/easyarchive";

?>

And make sure that your archive is at http://www.yes-its-free.com/vbbs/easyarchive

Like NTLDR mentioned, it takes google a few weeks to update all pages. No pages should even be in google as of now and they will be gone with the next few days (what you're seeing is called everflux). At the end of the month however, there should be alot ;)

Thanks for installing the hack.

Wow! Thank you for the kind words and consideration! :blush:

It's very nice of you to thank me for installing this hack, but you're the one who's giving ... so I must thank you! :) This is a great hack, long overdue, a wonderful contribution. So much so, that I'd be surprised if it doesn't become the number one hack of all times ... our pages in Google ... it doesn't get any better than this! Thanks Again.

Anybody know how I can kill it from showing private forums?

John 01-12-2003 06:21 PM

This has been asked time and time again - I wish people read the rest of the thread...

This is permission based - only you and users with rights can see the private forums.

glenvw 01-12-2003 06:27 PM

Yeah, my kid asks me the same things thousands of times a day. I still love him...

Where or what service do you folks use to submit to Google? All I see is a link to he open project

Question..

what do you gus and gals use to monitor stats, especially to know when Google is spidering?

cklaszlo 01-13-2003 03:45 PM

how does this hack compare to Tecks?

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...=&pagenumber=2

wooolF[RM] 01-13-2003 04:19 PM

It is like comparing teck's mercedes with a beatle

cklaszlo 01-13-2003 04:25 PM

lol. But in terms of functionality and how it interacts with google not appearances. I see that this hack puts a .html at the end of the urls and the other hack does not.

wooolF[RM] 01-13-2003 04:35 PM

do you think VB3 uses a bad method then? teck's hack is made like VB3 archive... read the first post to see the features

cklaszlo 01-13-2003 04:38 PM

All I know is last week Google went nuts for 5 full days on our archive. And then this past weekend Inktomisearch crawled for 2 days. I do like the way Teck's hack looks like the boards but really this archive is for the search engines and not the GP. right? So do looks matter? What I do like about Teck's is his latest suggestion modifing the meta tags to include keywords from the threads.

MomofThree 01-13-2003 06:19 PM

I'm getting a blank page. Obviously, I'm not doing something right. Help! :(

MomofThree 01-13-2003 06:53 PM

Got it working.... :)

rishel 01-14-2003 12:44 PM

Can someone, anyone, tell us why its just got a white page, and all of our settings are correct.

I see people repeatedly asking this question, and no one is answering.

Question for anybody:

What system do you recommend I get for accurate traffic stats? I have a server with several sites but really only care about monitoring about 3 major domains. Secondly, when these folks say they can actually see the crawl from Google and Inktomi, are they just watching hits or what do they (you ) use to watch this?

I think it's just a matter of preferrence, I think they are both great hacks.

I installed this one first and it does everything that I need so I'll be keeping it. ;)

Google and Inktomi both attacked my site after installing this hack. Works Great!!!

BTW... I happen to like beetles, oh yeah and The Beatles too! :D

cklaszlo 01-14-2003 07:08 PM

I do like that Teck's mod splits long threads into multiple pages. Any way of doing that with this mod?

rishel 01-14-2003 10:26 PM

We got it to work, but, its weird. We type the url in to the /archive directory and it sits and sits for literally 3 minutes, then displays the posts, but has errors.

It says this:

Warning: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Temporary failure in name resolution in /home/integrit/public_html/contents/forums/archive/index.php on line 99

Warning: php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Temporary failure in name resolution in /home/integrit/public_html/contents/forums/archive/index.php on line 112

Any ideas what is up with this?

cklaszlo 01-14-2003 11:35 PM

for simple stats to see if google is crawling is look at /online.php :) if you are loged in to see the ips you can see which engines are on the site.

That`s the thing people need to change in the config.php when they only get a blank page...

I tried more than 1 hour but finally i found this posting.
Thanks a lot freeshares1 ! :)

Erwin 01-15-2003 10:28 AM

Wow, another archive hack. :) Great job, people!

ladyfyre 01-15-2003 10:45 AM

Well i finally have this KIND OF working (it did not work with the correct full path given, but then did work when i used the above trick of putting the change dir line above it....which is pretty weird).

However, now there is still a problem. It shows top level forums just fine, but my forums are listed on the main page by categories, which show the subforums for that area after you enter the category. Here, when entering a category, it shows only the footer....no body at all.

So it is apparently TRYING to do something with it...but the code here doesn't seem to have taken categories into consideration.

SkuZZy 01-16-2003 03:38 PM

v2.3 has been released. The new version fixes the chdir problems that many were having. If you were stumped with the "blank page error", please download the latest 2.3 version. It fixes that problem. I am working on v3.0 and hopefully it will be done. New version will feature sub-forums displayed, as well as multiple pages (for large forums and threads).

w596 01-16-2003 04:34 PM

Kewl... I'm looking forward to trying v3.0 :D

Hey SkuZZy, can you maybe fix the category link in the next release? When you click it you get a blank page.

Guidster 01-18-2003 02:36 AM

Well, I think that the following page says it all! Ranked number 2 right out of the gate! Looking at the URL, I am not positive that it was the archive system yet, but I think that this months indexing is starting to show up. I can only see things getting better once the items that googlebot gorged on in the archive are added. Thanks Skuzzy

Guidster 01-19-2003 02:29 AM

The archive worked great on Inktomi!

cklaszlo 01-20-2003 08:25 PM

When is the next Dance or major indexing/crawl?

SkuZZy 01-20-2003 10:39 PM

The dance is usually at the end of the month, often between the 25th and 30th and the "major crawl" happens 5 days after the dance BEGINS (approximately). So if the dance started on January 28th, the major crawl would probaly begin around the 3rd.

SkuZZy 01-20-2003 10:39 PM

Oh and just for refference, the dance is when google updates all their listings from their LAST major crawl. Those of you who installed my hack before the last "big crawl" should notice all your pages in google when the dance is done with.

HELP

So i got .htaccess issues.

What do I do about it?

I should go to the httpd conf file and change what exactly?

mod_mime and mod_rewrite are installed
with these commands:

LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so
AddModule mod_rewrite.c

duplicate for mod_mime

mod_mime_magic is disabled... Don't know could that be a problem?

#AddModule mod_mime_magic.c

I have my own server but I'm not totally familiar with it.
Can anybody step by step me through that?

Red Hat 6.1 running Apache.

Can someone show exactly what they changed to get it to work when they had .htaccess problems?

would leaving links like this:

forums.com/forum/archive/forum.php/7.html

hurt my chances with the googlebot?

Would someone uploading a working conf file for comparison be
against apache's rules?

kuska 01-21-2003 02:38 AM

Within the next day of installing this hack i constantly have around 20 guests online. This hack is great. I submited my /archive to many search engines. This should be as an addition in VB3 :)
Thanksssssssssssssssssssssss me clicks INSTALLS :)

kuska 01-21-2003 02:40 AM

O and may i add istalation was a snap and without a glitch. And i suck at installing hacks :)

cklaszlo 01-21-2003 12:52 PM

I was wondering if someone can help us create a similar script for our Roller Coaster and Amusement Park database. It would be great to get all those pages listed too.

Coasters: http://www.thrillnetwork.com/index....unc=allcoasters

Amusement parks: http://www.thrillnetwork.com/index....e&func=allparks

We have over 1700 Roller Coasters listed in our DB and over 500 amusement parks. Listing all sorts of information, histories and stats. It's been very frustrating that non of these pages are being indexed. At all. :( Please help.
