Hi Ozzy, is there any way to disable/remove some fields on post classified page? I have to remove "Condition" and "Shipping" fields from the page as the trades are online.

My members have a couple of suggestions for improvements that I wanted to pass on:

First, there should be a notifier right in the Classifieds tab above showing when there are new items being offered.

Next, a view counter in the ads themselves. This would help the seller gauge the interest in their item and would also show potential buyers if the item is attracting a lot of attention, possibly spurring them to make a decision to buy before someone else buys it.


Finally I believe that comments and clarification should be allowed to be posted. Many times other members here know details of a piece of machinery better than the seller does or they have personal experience with the item.

Also category block on the left should be able to retract back to its original collapsed state. So far if you click on the category and it has multiple subcategories it stays opened with no option to collapse it.

Uses 145 queries. Any way to reduce that?

I turned on debug mod and it showed 145 for Classifieds. All other mods were within 20. I have 2 categories and 34 subcategories if that might be related.

Is there a performance issue?

I don't know yet. The site is still in a project stage. Also classifieds are not sporting any ads (2 only).

Where are the ads missing from ckgb? To know where they are missing would help. Two in the header an one above an below content. The two for content is in the navbar template other is footer.

I want to modify this to work more with affiliate products through Ebay enterprise network. I do not need any payment or shipping options, just product listing, categories, etc. Any thoughts on this Ozzy?

Suggestions:

1. Flashing NavBar "Classfieds" tab when there are new classifieds since user's last visit.

2. Show how many views each classified ad has.

3. Allow questions about the item and responses (like on Ebay)

Hey ozzy47 you writing all this down? I noticed in another thread you weren't sure how to move forward with this particular add-on with now two other classified that are more advanced. One thing that attracted me to christos mods was he styled them to fit into the cms so they blend into the site an not look like an add-on someone just added in. So in the future of your mod I think you should keep it small an simple, add the basics to give people a functional classified. Keeping the style can be the niche to set this apart from the others. Maybe looking into how adding ebay sellers integration, but not turning this into a store front.

i am looking to run it for a "free" classified (no price field). two things would make it perfect for me:

1. ability to hide the price field everywhere.
2. auto expire ads after xx days.

and good to have 3) searchable extra fields.

Any idea what would cause the usergroup permissions to not work? I have it set so regular members can only have 2 maximum concurrent ads, but when I'm testing this with a user account I can make as many as I want to.

Not off the top of my head, I will look into it when I get a chance.

It's strange, all the permissions except the maximum concurrent ads are working.

Would it be possible when I rename all 'classified and classifieds' names to install this mod twice?
This mod would be great to use also for a monthly contest ( kinda showcase) , but we are already using this mod for our marketplace. I dont want to overwrite the classifieds I already installed.

The column width settings are in "General Options", but that might not help unless you use percentages. Looks like a common css positioning / forum width issue. What are you using for a skin width, fixed or floating? What screen resolution is your monitor set at?

I have removed the right column since our template is so narrow, we think it looks better without.

Right now we do not Classified open to the public because we are building it up.

I send my admin tasks in a PM to you.

Then we have problems with the design of classified not follow our design, must be set manually trim it.

Finally, I discovered that if you placed a bid on a non-priced ad so visible they are not if you click on the menu "My bid"

If a user is set to the ad will expire after 2 days, should it not disappear automatically?
Seems like it does not work.

Not by default no, perhaps in a future version.

I am looking to get rid of "shipping" and "you are" fields. It looks like they are not required, is it possible to just hide them from being displayed if I can't disable them?

I would also like to have ads not expire and remove mention of it - is that possible?

Lastly I would like to change the order the fields are displayed. For example, I added a custom field for "size" which is showing up below all of the default fields, after the payment and shipping fields, but I would like it below the title. Is that possible?

What routine is used to clean up old pics, thumbnails when ad has been manually deleted or after ad expires?

I have two default fields I would like to remove and two custom fields I added. What if I use phrases to turn the default fields into what the custom fields are and remove the custom fields. Would that work? Or will that screw something up somewhere?

For example, I don't want the: You are.... Individual/Store Owner (radio buttons)
Can I use phrases to change to: Method of Exchange Pick up/Will deliver (radio buttons)

Is it possible, at the future version, that the admin can adjust the templates/Manage Styles?

You can adjust the templates now, you just need to edit them. What issues you having?

I believe when something is deleted, it removes everything, not sure if there is a cleanup ran on expired items though, if there is it is probably a cron job.

Not entirely sure, I guess you can try it and see.
