What am I doing wrong?

I assume you installed this MOD otherwise it won't show up.

Below are 2 screenshots as an example how it should look:
Screenshot 1 ->
As you can see my main tab is called MEDIA
Then the Menu I created is called MediaMenu
All the links as associated with the MediaMenu

Screenshot 2 ->
After you did step 1
When you EDIT the main Tab called MEDIA you will see more to the bottom of the page the option shown as in screenshot 2. Select in there the Menu name you created.

I've got a problem. I've got a parent tab called "About Us" and then a sublink called "About Project Raven". When I'm on the page "Project Raven" the nav bar highlights the Forum tab, but when I'm on "About Us" that tab is highlighted.

What option do i need to select to change this so that when I'm viewing "Project Raven" the "About Us" tab is highlighted.

Thanks

Having a little issue with the style selector. I wanted to set up a skin without any of the default tabs, by manually setting those tabs to be visible on all skins except for that one. Only problem is that it, while it allows me to select as many skins as I like, it doesn't actually save that setting properly. Every time I've tried, it seems to limit itself to just the first 7 I've picked from the list.

Is there any way around this at all?

Abominus 10-26-2012 07:22 AM

How do I add a dropdownmenu in the tab itself?

Abominus 10-26-2012 08:13 AM

Stupid me should read the past few Posts... now it works :D.

Is it possible to "move" default's vbulletin navbars to "root" of navbar?

It was a little confusing for myself also but you have to do the following:

Create your MAIN tab (the one that will be visible in the navbar)
Once done select add a MENU from the drop down in the settings of the MAIN tab
Create the Menu. Just give it a name and select the name of the MAIN tab in the "parent" option.
Add your links to the MENU you just created by selecting it in the PARENT options in the links setting page.
When all done go back into the MAIN tab by selecting EDIT and then in the options select the Menu you created where it says: Tab Menu - Select the Dropdown Menu for this tab here. -
The selected Menu will not be displayed as a dropdown menu when the tab is being clicked.

Now your MAIN tab will show as a drop down

Thank you!!!!

Has anyone been able to get the down arrow to turn to black on hover and click?

It appears it is in the code but doesn't work currently.

What is with the photoplog Tab??

is that also the addom implement?

Jason92s 11-16-2012 05:24 PM

Ok, I have read every page here, and I'm still missing something. Just want a simple dropdown like this:

Forms -> Form1, Form2, Form3

I click on Add Tab, then enter the Title of Forms. I click save and it says "Error: The specified URL is not valid."

Any help is appreciated.

tibobdenazareth 11-24-2012 02:18 PM

I read every single post. The problem is there is no installations directions. I assumed the files from the zip upload folder need to be uploaded in the shown folders. Which I did. Nothing happens. Nothing changes. I turned off the computer, restarted it. And when I went to Admin CP navigation manager, everything is still just like before after I created all the links and menus etc... editing the tab screen is just like before.

Would somebody PLEASE be of help. I really need the drop-down menu feature but I spent more time reading than accomplishing anything.

Thank you in advance

Yes, you will find this is the case with every mod. Being new to here it might not have been assumed. Also assumed is that .xml file that does not exist within the file structure is meant to be imported and NOT uploaded. This is done by going to vB Admin Control Panel - Plugins & Products - Manage Products - Add/Import Product (bottom of that page). From there choose the .xml file to import (leave allow overwrite at No, for initial imports).

Everything should not be the same, there are some noticeable changes.

From the previous page: Post 198

1) Create your MAIN tab (the one that will be visible in the navbar)
2) Once done select add a MENU from the drop down in the settings of the MAIN tab
3) Create the Menu. Just give it a name and select the name of the MAIN tab in the "parent" option.
4) Add your links to the MENU you just created by selecting it in the PARENT options in the links setting page.
5) When all done go back into the MAIN tab by selecting EDIT and then in the options select the Menu you created where it says: Tab Menu - Select the Dropdown Menu for this tab here. The selected Menu will now be displayed as a dropdown menu when the tab is being clicked.

That's all there is to it.

bzcomputers, thanks. funny I figured the plugins & products part from trhe admin CP on my own and installed it correctly!!!!! YEEEAAAHHHHHH

But .....

Only one submenu can be displayed from the main drop down menu (tab). When I get to your step number 5, even though I can see both sub "menus" listed in the drop down, I can only pick one and only that one shows up in the dropdown menu. Please help, otherwise, a drop-down menu with only one submenu defeats the whole dropdown menu purposes. I'm sure I'm not doing something, Since you are my savior here, please help.

And thank you for your help.

You should be only creating ONE submenu (per Main Tab). Then you need to add your links to that single submenu (you will see this as the second option under edit on the submenu). It sounds like you are currently creating multiple submenus and trying to attach them all as links.

tibobdenazareth 11-24-2012 05:25 PM

bzcomputers, you are a GENIUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

Thank you!!!!!!!!

tibobdenazareth 11-24-2012 05:38 PM

Only, I can't delete the second menu and link that I created before you told me what to do. When I picked DELETE, it prompts "Could not find element with navid = ..."

Any help? (but it's not the end of the world)

tibobdenazareth 11-24-2012 08:04 PM

I did delete the while menu section with the menu and link that refused to be deleted and re-created everything.

That works!!!

You've been of essential help. Thank you.

By any chance do you know how to set the mouseover instead of clickable?

Has anyone figured this out? Also is there a way to hide the arrow?

Great MOD, Thanks! :D

It works great. I've only found one thing that is odd. On my site, I dont display any navigation tabs if the user is not logged in. When this is the case and the user hasnt logged in, the navigation shows a blank highlighted tab. I've tried this with the default style and I show the same issue.

If I disable the plug-in called 'Add Navigation Manager Links to CMS Navigation', the blank tab goes away. I'm not sure what the negative impact might be of disabling this section though. At first glance, I dont see any issues. Does anyone else have this problem?

steeler7 12-04-2012 08:31 PM

I have all sorts of issues.

1st... I was adding a couple of sub menus to my Forum tab. I went back to correct a mistake with one of the menu's and I get "Invalid Navigation ID". I can't delete the menu. I can't delete any of the links within that menu and it was supposed to be for a specific style template and now I have it on all of the templates. i can't get rid of the "Forum" tab because I need that ID. I found this out the hard way. I create a new "forum" tab and moved everything over there and it worked on my main forum but not on additional style template that accompany different forums.

So, with that said Under my "new" Forum tab I created, the "Forum link" button that I moved.. I can't move it back. It tells me that it was successful and then nothing happens

steeler7 12-06-2012 07:57 PM

I ended up just installing and reinstalling the Mod. I just had to reorganize everything which took a few minutes. No biggie

dbjorck 12-19-2012 05:44 PM

Hi!

Apparently the mod is dead as Andreas hasn't replied for 6 months... But there are plenty of people above who have gotten it to work... so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone help me... :D

Either I'm completely misunderstanding what this mod does, or I'm doing something very wrong. :o

I have installed Beta 4 through the Import function. vB 4.2.0 PL3. I've created two sections, Home and About. I've created two tabs, both Navigation Manager Enhancements, Target URL content.php{session.sessionurl_q}, Append 'tabid' Yes, Component Base URL vbcms. I've set the section for one to Home, and About for the other. I've added one article to the Home section, and a different one to the About section.

Now, this is the problem; when I click on the Home tab, it shows both articles - and when I click on the About tab it also shows both articles... However, if I click on the Home section in the Section Widget, it only shows the Home article, and when I click on the About section in the Section widget, it only shows the About article... What am I doing wrong or misunderstanding?

Yeah, that post was pretty confusing.

What exactly are you trying to do?

A link to your site may help also.

AusPhotography 12-19-2012 09:38 PM

NB: This mod will not work properly in 4.2.1 due to changes to Navman in 4.2.1 (see the Jira entries on navigation for public reason why, I'm on the Beta program and can't say more than that)

Someone will need to fix it or we need to plan not to use it.

I tried to be as clear as possible. Sorry.

I'll try again. I want two tabs with unique CMS content. One called Home and one called About. When I click on Home I want it to show only the articles posted in the Home section, and when I click About, only the articles posted in the About section.

A link won't help you much as I'm mucking about trying to get some version of it working. It's a test site. Currently turned off to the public.

Sorry, but which xml ( from the 4.zip ) i have to upload....? I`m not sure....

dbjorck 12-20-2012 07:49 AM

Hi!

Upload everything to the root folder. That's what I did at least. But perhaps that's why my installation doesn't seem to be working? Uploading everything means that the resource files are under ./upload - perhaps they should be moved up to ./includes etc?

You only need the files included within the 4.zip.

Upload everything within the upload directory to your "forum" directory. If your forum directory is your "root" then upload it to your root. The "upload" directory is just a holding directory within the zip file and should not exist on your vbulletin installation. You should be uploading the individual directories within it and not the "upload" directory itself.

Example:

1) If your forum resides in the root you should be uploading like this:
www.YourWebSite.com/includes
www.YourWebSite/com/packages

2) If your forum resides outside the root you should be uploading like this:
www.YourWebSite.com/forum/includes
www.YourWebSite.com/forum/packages

(in either case the includes, packages subdirectories should already exist - locate them and upload into them)

The .xml which does not exist within the upload directory needs to be imported. Go to your admincp in vbulletin - Plugins & Products - Manage Products - Add/Import Product (bottom of page) - select the .xml from your computer and select import.

They shouldn't be too much trouble getting that done. Make sure you install this mod as posted in the post above and see if you are still having an issue.

The standard is if the .xml resides within an upload directory/subdirectory it will be uploaded. Any .xml residing outside of an "upload" directory will be imported. Typically there will only be one .xml imported per mod, but there may be multiple .xml files uploaded within a mod.

You will just upload this .xml within the file structure.

I should have understood the 'upload' folder thing, from the vB installation. But I still think it's a stupid idea to have an "upload" folder and then not provide a readme to explain where everything goes since you have to move the files manually. It should all be in the same tree as the destination.

Anyway, I moved the includes and packages to the right place, uninstalled and reinstalled just to be safe. I'm still getting the exact same thing. As I started out by saying, either I'm misunderstanding what the mod is supposed to do, or my settings are wrong. I explained the settings above, but that was apparently "confusing". But I see no other possibility than to repeat my settings, because there must be a mistake there.

In CMS I create sections Section1 and Section2. In NM I create two tabs with these settings:
- Active: Yes
- Product: Navigation Manager Enhancements
- Title: Section1 for the one, and Section2 for the other
- Target URL: content.php{session.sessionurl_q}
- Append 'tabid' to URL: Yes
- Sections: Section1 for the first, Section2 selected for the second
- Component Base URL: vbcms
Everything else is left blank/as defaulted. No Title Attribute, no Target.

I'm especially wondering about the Target URL; should that really be the same for both??

Now, when I click on the Section1 tab, the heading says 'The Front Page', and the navigation line above it says 'Home > The Front Page'. If I click on Section2, it says exactly the same; 'Home > The Front Page'. But if I click on Section1 in the Section Widget, it says 'Home > Section1', and if I click on Section2, it says 'Home > Section2'. Isn't the mod supposed to go to those same sections? I don't see the point of the mod if it always only goes to 'The Front Page'

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

The drop down doesn't appear at all in the Chat menu button/tab.

Plus, the menu text has been forced vertically top/left aligned by this plugin.

Normally the text is bottom left aligned.

A little more information on this mod would be great in the original post. Thanks
