It's not currently possible to do this, however we're investigating including a "activity winners" page in the future :)

nitra1000 05-06-2010 10:52 AM

But if I were to say log in on the 1st of the month and sort the list by the month, would it show me the top active people for the last 31/30 days?

Could you see your product being able to give this information in anyway as it is? Doesn't necessarly have to record it.

DragonByte Tech 05-06-2010 11:07 AM

No it wouldn't, you'd have to log in on the last day of the month to see this.
It's not currently designed to store the statistics, but it's something we're considering for the future :)

So it would work if I ran a 28 day compition? Starting on the 1st of the month and ending a couple of days before the end.

I'm not new to having to work with software that doesn't quite do what I want it :)

Also I just relised you can't exlude certain users from vbactivity, what about forums that use RSS bots?

Hi, great mod, nice addition to my site - I'm also thinking about buying the full thing when I can afford it.

I have a question however, how can I remove the navigation tab for this? Thank you.

It's on a few pages before but you basicly clear out the nav template of this mod (exact name of it is somewhere on this thread)

Correct, thanks :D
The template name is dbtech_vbactivity_navbar_link :)

In the next version, due in not too long hopefully, I'll add a setting to turn off the navbar tab. Sorry about the inconvenience :(

Being that I don't have any experience with this MOD yet, what is a good 'Activity Target' and 'Activity Target: Minimum Points' setting? I understand it varies from community to community, but I just want some feedback....

The system assumes every single point that's generated by past posts / threads etc came today, so that'll naturally upset the targets some.

Leaving it alone will mean it corrects itself over time :)

It has been over a week since I ran "Recalculate Points" tool and 'Weekly Activity' percentages are still all over play. For example, 7812.93% for one member.

When does this number come down to a normal level? I thought it would be a week after the recalculation - this is not the case apparently.

DragonByte Tech 05-12-2010 09:18 PM

Does that one member have a vastly higher post / points generation than the rest of the member base?

If not, try adjusting the threshold setting you'll find directly under the target setting in vBulletin Options, then run re-calculate again (it won't change your points, just the targets).
I cannot tell you the correct setting for your forum, you need to figure that out by going to the leader boards and keep adjusting the number up (small increments) until you find a level that's appropriate for your forum.

Hope that helps :)

hubba 05-12-2010 10:17 PM

Maybe stupid question... where do I find the recalculate Button??

DragonByte Tech 05-12-2010 10:20 PM

Tis not stupid :) Recalc's under Maintenance in vBA's nav group :)

by far this is one of the best mods that I ever had, I was wondering if the activity percent will fix after a week? because everybody have more than 6000%..

You can manually adjust it if you prefer - It might be worth doing this for the first month.

The reason is all of the points a person has ever earned are counted as being earned in one day, which skews the figures for that month haha.

It should fix itself after the first month at worst. It depends on your exact settings IIRC.

Is there any documentation that will tell me what the different achievement levels are? I can't find anything on that after installing.

I'm not sure what you mean by Achievement Levels, could you clarify please? :)

If you mean the "Level" you see in postbit (Activity Level) then it's just a measurement of how many activity points your members have accumulated over time.

If you mean different "tiers" of Achievements, then it means that you can create an Achievement that your members gain when they have reached, for instance; 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1000 posts.
The corresponding Criteria will be Posts >= 1, Posts >= 5, [...] Posts >= 1000.

If neither is what you meant, then I'll need more information before I can answer your question :)

Hi Fillip

Yes it's the tiers that I mean - I cannot see where they are set

DragonByte Tech 05-18-2010 08:01 PM

You will first need to go into the "Manage Criteria" and create the criteria like I described above.
Then you will be able to use those Criteria to create Achievements.

Hope that helps :)

I cannot see where I would do this. I have the following options under settings:
- General Settings
- Points Settings
- Stats Settings
- Achievement Settings

At no point do I see on any of these any place where I can add in tiers or select images for them or any such thing.

Sorry if it's in front of me, I'm pulling my hair out and feeling rather blind!

DragonByte Tech 05-18-2010 09:23 PM

It's in the left hand side menu in the AdminCP, not in vBulletin Options :)

If you can't see it, go into the Administrator Permissions interface and give yourself the Can Administer vBActivity permission :)

kersti 05-18-2010 09:30 PM

That was it!

I use a different account for day to day admin instead of the original one for security reasons.

May I suggest that you add this as a tip to the install instructions?

kersti 05-18-2010 09:39 PM

OK, so what achievements and categories and criteria have others set up? I'm in need of inspiration.

Also, do I HAVE to reset it at first? Can I just start from today?

DragonByte Tech 05-18-2010 09:45 PM

You don't have to re-calculate posts, no :)

I already see you registered on our site so you should find some inspiration there :)

Yep, but unfortunately it didn't help me!

I'm still confuddled about the relationships between categories/achievements/criteria. A handful of examples would be great.

How do I set different images for awards?

On the activity page, not understanding where the %s are calculated.

Also, would prefer raw points rather than %s .

In the future I know that I'll be looking to run short term competitions and calculate the points gained over that period but without affecting the total points overall.

Is there any further documentation with the pro version?

kersti 05-19-2010 09:34 AM

Oh and I've noticed the following which would be great to have, are they available in the pro version?

- points for adding an avatar
- points for adding a profile pic
- points for uploading album images
- points for blog posts

Categories are mainly only to structure it better. "Achievements for posting" is am example category.
Criteria are conditions that members need to fulfill to gain an achievement.
Upload an image to the images/icons/vbactivity/achievements and they will become select able.

I can't answer your other questions atm because I'm typing on a mobile phone and they require more detail.

not yet, but we are adding more points types for pro customers in the future :)

kersti 05-24-2010 09:40 AM

Questions and observations after first week of using this:

In the leaderboard, how can I remove some of the stats give? For example, the infractions is not something I want out there.

Is there any way to remove some of the columns in the ranking page? Better still - I'd love it if the actual points could be displayed in a column to the right of the username, they get lost otherwise and the focus is as a result on thepercentages which do not make sense to the average user.

Some kind of explanation is needed for users on what the %s, points and levels refer to. Perhaps these could point to a page which has the details so a user can figure out how to up their points - of course this would need to be editable or defined in some way.

You've said in the past that a sample setup is not appropriate for this space, I strongly disagree. Please show us how to set up half a dozen rewards/levels/achievements and how they could interact. If you do not have time for this perhaps another user would be willing to oblige?

The postbit was blown out of all proportions when I added this to it - is there any way we could have just one or two items in the postbit? Ideally I'd like to remove the activity bar and just the points and the awards.

There is also a need to make the link on the main nav bar optional, or to be able to add it elsewhere - realestate on this bar is premium and I'd like to decide what goes there!

There is most definately a need for being able o set short term targets and goals, ie points within a given date range. I would imagine this could be a premium offering. I'd pay for that.

A comparison page for lite vs pro would be great ;) AT the moment I'm not sure if any given item is not showing because it's pro or because I've not set it up correctly

Storing stats over time, at least the top people and points is a must-have. Pro perhaps?

Integration - needs to be done with thank-you, blog posts, articles, avatars, profile pics, profile questions, albums.

Need to be able to exclude users - I own my forum so I earn most points, I shouldn't be the one getting the rewards!

I'm running this for a promotional period without rebuilding the points database. As such, not too sure what activity % refers to exactly. I note that there's a suggestion that this be according to the most active user, or perhaps it's according to the average user - this would make most sense to me (providing it was most active actually active user). I'm concerned about when my promo period is over - do I rebuild then? Will I have stupid 5s then?

Don't get me wrong, it's a brilliant product - which is why I'm taking an active interest in getting my questions answered :)

At the moment, there's no way of hiding stats from the leaderboards page without actually disabling that entire points type.
I'll write it down for the next version :)

That page is getting a revamp in the next version, I'll definitely look into adding the actual points.

Definitely coming in the next version, it was an oversight to only add controls for the two menu links and not the tab =(

That's an interesting idea, one that could be expanded to make this quite a mod for competitions ;)

It would be against vB.org rules to include this inside vBA itself, but we'll work on changing our website to reflect these differences in the future.

Upon first rebuild, where it reads all your past posts etc, you will indeed have stupid %s. We're going to work on a system to avoid this happening.
The activity target is rebuilt daily, and it takes the amount of points gained by users who gained more than X points in the past week (where X is a value you can set in the admincp options) divided by the number of users who gained more than X points in the past week.

This value then becomes 100% of the weekly activity target.
Divide by 7 to get 100% of the daily activity target.
Multiply by 4 to get 100% of the monthly activity target.

Would be nice if you can add that points are deducted for each day of inactivity? Also would be great if you created a "store" to spend points received.

Can this modification be integrated with this one? :
