I don't think he was saying the 3 column version you included is working dave, I think he switched to a 2 column setup like I did.

daveaite 05-13-2010 03:21 AM

Can you guys upload your grid here so ppl can download it. Not everyone is having this problem but for those that are.

Uploaded all of my grids as exported by vBul. Currently using 25%, 75%, 240px.

daveaite 05-13-2010 07:07 AM

Wish their was a "Thanks" button. I've added it as part of the download if people are having problems. It's hard to see what the problem is since I'm not experiencing it.

ty again

bvrider1 05-13-2010 10:21 PM

I am using the "Grid of all time" and 3 column 25/50/25 and it works fine w. Pixel and VB defaults.

I just tested it out to see, I am going back to the 2 column. Thanks for the support!!

daveaite 05-16-2010 11:25 PM

no problem

freni32 05-18-2010 01:53 PM

I have this installed here: http://www.radarreviews.org

I am having problems though, go to my "register" page like you are going to register. You will notice the font color on the menu for like security questions...etc... you cant read. In style var what do I need to change to change that font color there or the background image of that border that is gray making it too hard to read?

Also go to my profile: http://www.radarreviews.org/forums/m...radar-reviews/

The "About Me" page is messed up, has that big white box there so you cant read the text there about how many posts I have made...etc.. what would I change in stylevar to fix that?

Everything else seems to look great!

pjdaley 05-19-2010 02:27 PM

very awesome skin! however im running into a small problem, please see the image below. This is present on the "new thread" page.

latimer 05-20-2010 12:03 PM

Can you make the background images bigger or make them fade into the background color? On large monitors it looks weird how the backgrounds pictures just abruptly end then it's black.

daveaite 05-20-2010 04:40 PM

I know what you mean on big monitors. I'm using 2 "26 inch" monitors to test the themes.

I didnt think it looked to wierd, although I can try to stretch the current images without losing quality. We'll see.

Anyone know how to fix this problem?

docvader 05-22-2010 04:11 AM

Anyone know how to add the "facebook connect" button to the log in area?

Seems we lost that with this style.

I'm unsure how the default vbulletin facebook connect works. Let me know if you guys figure this out. I have a feeling it has to do with the header code.

docvader 05-23-2010 06:15 AM

It's in the header code, and I can make it work once you're logged in. I can log in with the default vb4 style, and then move to your style and see the facebook connect logo in the header The problem is, with your drop down java log on, I don't know where to put this code.

The code is:
Code:

<vb:if condition="$vboptions['enablefacebookconnect']">
                                        {vb:raw facebook_header}
                                </vb:if>

It goes in the member option area, usually right after this line in HEADER

Code:

<li class="welcomelink">{vb:rawphrase welcome_x_link_y, {vb:raw bbuserinfo.username}, {vb:link member, {vb:raw bbuserinfo}}}</li>
Now, if you can put this in the appropriate place in HEADER, and in your template for the log in area, it should work....

Also, you need to put the two facebook gif's into your misc (image) directories.

If you got the Facebook connect working, could you post your header code in it's entirety? Thanks!

daveaite 05-24-2010 09:56 AM

Honestly, if you look at the vBulletin.com forums, facebook connect will be obsolete soon, and will be replaced with Open Graph or whatever its called. Facebook is planning on merging their Connect button with a bunch of other websites like Google/Yahoo/Myspace,OpenID, so that logging into sites really becomes alot easier for everyone.

So all these facebook connect problems will be a thing of the past give or take a few months-year at most...

In that time, you may lose all your members that joined through facebook connect, due to database config...who knows how it will be set up.

docvader 05-25-2010 04:31 AM

vb 4.04 is supposed to have a facebook bridge in it, whereby threads go to a facebook site along with your forum. I think vbulletin is staying on top of this issue, and, unfortunately, (I'm not a facebook fan by any means...) this whole interaction is here to stay.

I think that when you connect with facebook connect, and you're a new user to the forum, vb creates that user in your database. If you're a current user, and you connect with facebook, it will either log you in as that facebook user, or, you can associate your facebook account with a current forum account.

And then, to complicate matters, in the typical "take over the world" facebook fashion, when you log in with an account that exists on your forum, facebook creates yet another user (your forum user).

I'm not quite sure I understand it all yet. But, unfortunately, for those of us with websites, I think this is going to be a necessary evil.

It shouldn't be that difficult. in the Header, just put the code as I listed it. Problem is, I'm stuck with this style's log in template; I can't seem to find it. That code also has to go in the log in template. It should work at that point.

daveaite 05-25-2010 09:03 PM

Well I can reverse the changes, and make the theme slighty more boring :P But I love the log-in system xD

docvader 05-27-2010 03:32 AM

Log in system is great, please keep it. Thought you might be able to add the facebook connect option to that part of the code.

Personally, I've drifted away from the whole facebook connect thing, but, given that vb4.04 is supposed to have increased facebook functionality, it's something to consider for the future.

Updates on this or perhaps it's just me?

When I check something such as the edit history of a post, I get this "white background" making it impossible to read anything (Attachment -- ignore the red box, I put that there).

Another question I have is about the postbit vs. postbit legacy. It seems like only the postbit legacy version takes on the stylevar for postbit_background: url(images/pixelpremium/bk2.png). When I use the normal postbit, the background is simply transparent. Is this a style error, am I looking at the wrong stylevar, or something else?

Thanks.

This just means your putting the pixel folder in the wrong directory

Here's a question. I've got a heavy modifcation that seems to work pretty snazzy, but when I look at it on an iPhone or an iPad, it comes out like this:

On Safari/IE/FF it displays correctly as designed:
Attachment 117989

On iPhone (image scales and does not stay fixed in background):
Attachment 117990

On iPad: (image scales and does not stay fixed in background):
Attachment 117991

Has anyone found a work-around for mobile browsers and the fixed background?

(Sorry, it's on a testing server so I apologize for the redacting of the actual URL where it is)

daveaite 06-05-2010 04:29 PM

Hmm...I will go ahead and say you are further down the line than most users testing out vBuletin on mobile devices. The forum software wasn't designed to work with mobile devices and pretty much everyone is struggling to get their sites to work correctly with them

dltkmk 06-05-2010 05:18 PM

Well, iiiiiiiiiit's the present! :) I'm always trying to think "user experience" first rather than a developer-centric approach.

karlm 06-06-2010 05:02 PM

Thank you - will be testing this out on my new site...

aflax045 06-09-2010 06:25 PM

Hello Daveaite, I'm not sure if you did not have any ideas on this or if my questions were missed. They are from Post#222

Any response is appreciated.

hype901 06-10-2010 02:24 AM

So frustrated .. the Default Style looks fine with 2 column + sidebar 25% 75% 240px, but the Pixels style places the "Our Sponsors" and the Primary Content section below the 25% instead of in the 75% area. What gives?

hype901 06-10-2010 02:53 AM

Created my own, fresh grid and now it works fine. Ignore previous post. Thanks.

daveaite 06-11-2010 08:48 PM

Great, Upload it here if you get a chance. Hopefully people can use that if they encounter the same issues.

Hi, love this style and have installed it on my forums. I am having one problem right now where there is a good amount of extra/empty space between someone's post and their signature. Below is a link

EDIT...Seems the first word in my site name is tripping the censorship setting here.
The site is http://m a f i a-motorsports.com/forums

thank you!!

uglyduck 06-14-2010 01:35 PM

I was able to resolve this issue, below is a link to the fix.

The Rocketeer 06-15-2010 06:39 AM

Its a nice theme, But Im using 1900x 1200 something in a 22 or 24 inch screen and the image is kept in the middle. Can you post a solution for the image to stretch according the the monitor width?

docvader 06-15-2010 08:10 AM

I fixed that by resizing the image larger and reuploading it.

Reef Man 06-15-2010 06:26 PM

I tried to install it on my 4.0.3 PL 1 and it didnĀ“t work.

I followed step by step the instructions and nothing.
Any suggestions?

Unsure what your issue. Could be a million of things.

Also with the addition of facebook connect in vBulletin 4.04 soon, I will test the theme and see if I can integrate it with the advanced log-in. Once 4.04 is released, that is.

Reef Man 06-15-2010 06:54 PM

The files were uploaded as indicated. I imported the xml and if I go to the forum, I can see the logo and the status icon on place, but not the colors, the bars, the background. All still as the style I have now. Just the header and icons.

I am online now if we can fix this together....

daveaite 06-15-2010 07:18 PM

You put the main folder in the wrong directory. :P
