Arg! Sorry for the trouble. That fixed it. I had enabled and reconfirmed the permissions for visiting members display, but the main option to enable the display itself was still set to off. I hadn't realized that the option itself was now a separate setting in 4.2.

Now to figure out how to resort the items in the wgo box. (I know I figured it out before, so I won't even ask unless I get stuck)

In 4.2 this does not add its own display, it hooks into the existing display, so that must be enabled.

yes, i have Enable Display.

you would like to send you a PM in acp details see it for yourself?

Well, I got stuck. I went through the plug-in manager to re-order all of the execution order where I could find it, and that didn't seem to change a thing. I put member tracking ahead of guest tracking in each hook where they both showed up, but no dice. Is the positioning somewhere else now?

Paul M 06-11-2012 11:51 PM

Execution order only works for products, remember that the Visiting Members display is now a core display. You need to read the posts here.

You are free to do so, but I cannot say exactly when I'll have time to look. :)

Hello Paul,

Any chance this mod can be adapted to catch more info on each members visit? Like listing their posts, attachements etc. I know these can be found elsewhere but to have it all found in one place would be much more streamlined. Also it would be great, for me and my board at least, to have the tracking info kept indefinitely instead of deleted every 24 hours or so. Perhaps in a viewable, retrievable, printable table of sorts. Mine is a private members only board where security is important. Tracking and keeping a record of actions of the members is very helpful in my case.

I'd happily pay for your time on this if necessary.

Thanks for the great mod

Paul, I'm taking a shot here and renewing my hopes that there may be some way to add these functions to this mod. Most importantly for me at least is keeping the records indefinitely. As I said above security is very important for me so having a long history of members actions can be very helpful if a legal need arises.

If this is still not a possibility could you point me in a direction where I can start getting trusted help on this?

Thanks again,

Paul M 06-26-2012 01:20 PM

I dont really understand what you mean by listing their "posts and attachments".

As far as keeping all the data is concerned, just turn off the cleanup (set its value to zero).

You will end up with a huge amount of data though (and no built in way to display most of it, there is no function to display specific time periods).

Footman 06-26-2012 08:25 PM

I'm just looking to keep track of as much of their actions as possible, and to keep a running record in case it's needed for legal reasons. As for the "posts and attachments" I mean if there is a way to track/display their individual posts/attachments, if any, within the display provided.

Perhaps I'm not describing my needs well enough. I run an adult forum and the security of the members is important. Occasionally there are people who join and steal images for other sites, or post stolen images here, or are stalking other members, hiding behind proxy ip etc etc. I've been through a time already when compiling the movement/actions/login ip's etc, of an individual was necessary for authorities. Having a more detailed record would of made everything a lot smoother and faster.

I'm sure this would entail a huge amount of data stored somewhere. Perhaps it can be displayed in the ACP instead of the forum itself. Having the ability to sort by member would be beneficial.

It sounds like a considerable amount of work to me so I'm sure it does to you also. Unfortunately it's kind of necessary for me and would be most beneficial to me as well.

Any thoughts or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Paul M 06-26-2012 11:31 PM

It is not possible to do that with this mod, it doesnt go into that sort of detail.

In fact, its not possible at all to know what post is being viewed, as a page has many, and pagesize can vary. It might be possible to log what images are being viewed (if they are attachments).

Either way, all this does is log what forums & threads they have visited (and when).

What you describe is a much more complex system that would need to be custom written for you.

The 'viewing' of images or individual posts wasn't what I meant. I meant tracking/listing the users posts/attachements etc. The way you have it set up already lets me know they visited the thread, which pretty much tells me they viewed it.

I figured this was a pretty big task. I'd be interested in getting this custom written, if you're interested and/or have the time. Like I said earlier the detailed tracking can be very useful for me and my site, along with other security features but that's another topic. If not, I completely understand, would you have anyone in mind who you know enough, trust or believe can do this completely and correctly... and could update it if the need arises like when vB updates their script?

Thanks again

Paul M 06-27-2012 12:02 PM

Sorry, as my signature says, I cannot help you with custom work.

Footman 06-27-2012 03:59 PM

No problem, I'll keep searching.

Thank you

Can you please explain this exactly, thanks.

Sorry for the delay, here's the explanation you requested. Your product used to not display any posts that were read by the user if the one who was looking at the product's page did not have access to see the title of those posts.

Let me clarify it a bit more with an example:

Let's say User1 is and administrator and User2 is a user. Cat 1 is the general category Forum 1 is the admin's forum (read/write/etc only by admins) and Forum 2 is the general forum (read/write/etc by all). In 4.1.x versions of the plugin, User2 could not see what User1 had seen in Forum 1. In 4.2, User2 can see what User1 has seen in Forum 1.

You are correct in saying that User2 would be able to see what forum and/or thread User1 had visited, in forums they cannot see. However, Im puzzled by you stating thats changed. There has never been any permission check on that.

The permission check is usually done by the software (in this case, vBulletin). At least, in my case, in the 4.1.x versions of vB, it didn't allow User2 to see what User1 has written in forums and threads User2 didn't have access to.

Paul M 06-29-2012 11:39 AM

Again, Im not clear what you mean.

This will list them (i.e. the title) to user2, that is not a permission check vB performs, that would be code needed in this mod.

If User2 clicks on the title to view the actual forum or thread, they will get a no permission error, that comes from vbulletin. If you dont get that then your permissions are wrong.

afmarko99 06-30-2012 04:28 PM

Works good. Thanks

tareqbd 07-17-2012 08:24 AM

vb 4.2, this mod Installed but cannot see "total members that have visited today ".

Jncocontrol 07-21-2012 08:42 AM

Not working

This product is not compatible with version 4.2.0 of vBulletin. (Compatible starting with 4.1.11 / Incompatible with 4.1.99 and greater)

Paul M 07-21-2012 11:36 AM

Thats because you are trying to install the wrong version.

K, I got the right version this time, But i don't think it is working still Paul, correct me here if i'm wrong. But shouldn't there be an extra "field" at the footer of the forums with a list of those who have logged in to the forums today?
If so, I"m not seeing it.

Did you see this in the main page ?

Quote:

Also note that for vBulletin 4.2 onwards, you must enable the [core] Visiting Members display, this mod hooks into that display, it does not duplicate it for itself.

v_b_m 07-24-2012 07:44 PM

I can't see the member view. I'm using 4.1.12

I installed the plugin. I gave the admin the permission to view.: the four radio buttons in usergroup for amdin were set to yes. And yet I still can't see anything.

I spent a couple hours in this thread looking for answers but didn't find any.

TheInsaneManiac 08-04-2012 04:34 AM

So is this now core in 4.2.0 and if so what does this mod do to the core?

bump, thx

moustafa 12-31-2012 09:36 PM

Where exactly does this add-on appears in the forum?

I installed it as explained & updated usergroups but i don't find it anywhere in the forum.

mitch84 01-01-2013 01:25 PM

just click on a nickname on index.php under Total members that have visited the forum in the last 24 hours:
but don't forget active set in acp>usergroups and search for Member Tracking Permissions;)

I did that already but when i click on any nickname, i don't see any tracking or any new tab in the member's profile.

mitch84 01-02-2013 01:49 PM

it's not in your profile but on index page

ClanScene 01-07-2013 05:31 PM

<span style="text-decoration: line-through">Same problem here, enabled all options for Admin first but really don't see anything.</span>

Solved, so silly. It's already in 4.2.0 but disabled. In 'Options' -> 'Forum Home: Visiting Members' you must enable it for it to work.

mitch84 01-21-2013 06:21 AM

I use a customised theme, how changed colour background? thx

Paul M 01-22-2013 11:48 AM

Edit custom_trm.css in the style.

mitch84 01-22-2013 02:31 PM

thx; it's fixed

tarun_ce 03-01-2013 04:56 PM

how to check, its not displaying for me.

UnitedYacht 03-12-2013 07:26 PM

took a bit of reading through this thread to get all the options working but once i got it, everything works as intended. awesome add on amigos! one question though, is it possible to modify this to keep records for a month or even a week or two if not? this is a small exclusive company only forum and my boss wants to track who is actually making use of the forums and reward those that are using it the most on a monthly basis. thank you for all your help :)
