Anyway around this?

Same here, but not too bothered as this is a great mod, far easier to use for links to arcade etc than the small navbar links.

Nice mod, saves me a lot of work

I have a questions though, I am using this to link to a page I made using this "how to" https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...hreadid=229194

Is there anyway that when they click the link to that page, the tab is selected, instead of the home tab being selected?

paulbhoy, there is no way to do that in the current versi?n. I'll be working in a minor update to include some suggestions, but I won't be including every suggestion. I'm just going to update the current version, I will include a variable, that if active you will be able to use it in your custom page and use it in some sort of conditional to highlight your tab.

For all the other users that keep asking why this addon doesn't change the tab color to white when clicked, this addon doesn't support it and provably wont, however I will try to make something in the future.
There is a paid addon out there that do everything you people want, however I know that would be better if this features were free, so I will try to implement them at some point.

This mod is great - thank you. I tried to write my own before I found this mod. Not terrifically difficult, but I'd still rather not have to do that again. ;)

I am also seconding the requests for highlighting. My "new tab" was just a simple link to Advanced Search. The default tab "What's New" gets highlighted when the "Search" link is clicked (and if I link to "content.php" instead of "search.php," the "Home" button gets highlighted - evidently some links will trigger certain tab highlights? - argh).

Thanks again for the time-saver, Elmer!

Nice! Thanks!

GeorgeB85 01-02-2010 07:12 PM

I like this, but I would suggest that it allows you to choose which user groups get to see the tape from a multiple drop down list (meaning you can choose more than one usergroup. Other than that, good job!

alfanni 01-02-2010 09:26 PM

Simple, yet very helpful and well-coded.
Thank you for this nice mod.

You can not with that with this hack, although Elmer says that he will try to add that functionality at some point, but there is no ETA atm.

However, if you can not wait for that to happen, then check out my site, there is a product that does all of this, see my signature for the link.

I saw a website that was able to do that... was that with ur mod?

abqtj 01-03-2010 04:24 AM

Works great! Thanks!!

If it was Wolfshead Solutions you saw this on, yes it was.

Datenpapst 01-03-2010 09:55 AM

Is it possible to place the new tabs after the Home tab for the CMS but before the Forum tab?

tonmo 01-03-2010 12:03 PM

Works great, but I think it's incredibly important to have the tab you create be highlighted when selected. Otherwise it seems broken to the end-user.

ddrake 01-03-2010 08:58 PM

Thanks!

sveinung 01-04-2010 11:16 PM

Installed, thanks :)

OcR Envy 01-06-2010 11:17 AM

Would really love to see a selected tab option added to this. Meaning the css changes when you are on the current tab page :)

meissenation 01-06-2010 05:29 PM

Installed. My only pet peeve is that I find myself having to list a crap load of usergroups just to get it to display for everyone. Can there not be, say, "all" that can be used to display the tab to everyone? Just to get one tab to show I'm having to add like 6 usergroups... :( I'd honestly prefer that leaving the usergroup part blank would default to everyone rather than defaulting to admins only... I'd rather have to specify the Admin usergroup ID and be able to leave it blank to display to everyone than having to list out all these usergroups...

jaffaman 01-06-2010 05:44 PM

I left mine blank and it shows to everyone (didnt notice it was a bug lol)

My code looks like.
Code:

Arcade|./arcade.php

meissenation 01-07-2010 01:01 AM

Haha well thanks for the info. The description in AdminCP says that if it's left off that it will be shown to only the Administrators usergroup. But hey if that works - then that's perfect for my needs! :)

Sador 01-07-2010 10:55 AM

Nice mod, thank you.

MooseMoney 01-07-2010 03:24 PM

Nice! :) Thank you.

w1z8it 01-07-2010 07:03 PM

Not working properly for me:

Wiki|http://www.<link removed>.org/wiki=>blank;6 1

Only shows for admin and unregistered users where it says in the settings:

Quote:

Link Name|URL=>target;usergroup id
Example:
Opens in a new window an is visible to the administrator and registered users.
vBulletin|http://www.vbulletin.com=>blank;6 1
So how do I allow ALL users to see the button, registered, unregistered, admin, and mods?

I have tried:

Wiki|http://www.<link removed>.org/wiki=>blank;6 1 2

Same shit, not showing for registered users (who are in fact usergroup ID 2 :/)

vcruiser 01-08-2010 04:05 PM

I agree with this - it really needs to highlight the currently viewed tab. Very confusing at the moment with the wrong tab highlighted. Great work on the plug-in though! Thanks

cherylferraro 01-10-2010 09:36 PM

This is a great idea for a modification. I think that this type of functionality should be included in the default software. The selected tab really needs to be highlighted before I'd install this mod on my live forums.

I really appreciate your work on this. Thank you.

Scan Cape Cod 01-10-2010 10:05 PM

A most excellent plugin; can't get much easier than that. Many thanks, one excellent rating from here.

pranaysanghavi 01-11-2010 04:12 PM

excellent
just one thing.. reverse the logic of showing for selected users.. leaving the number blank, or 0, means that everyone can see the damn links.. i'd prefer that logic at least.. wat say/

otherwise, very good..
sometimes i dont know how the VB coding is done by those developers..

Datenpapst 01-13-2010 03:35 PM

Any idea when the current tab will be highlighted?

ti07shadow 01-14-2010 02:39 AM

me likeys! downloaded and installed

flegul 01-15-2010 02:42 PM

AWESOME Installed

aaronrand 01-15-2010 04:42 PM

Thanks so much, i was struggling trying to add buttons for hours

albrens 01-15-2010 04:50 PM

Thanks a lot

ddrake 01-15-2010 10:39 PM

Is there a way to add two separate tab groups, for example, one group on the left and one on the right? I tried adding a second plugin, but that didn't work. I just see one "vbh New Tabs Options" instance in Edit Settings.

search.php?do=getnew&contenttype=vBForum_Post
For today's posts (Also in Navbar) should end with

Code:

search.php?do=getdaily
All the above after the correct path to your forum

The url you suggested displays the results as threads. Do you know how you can list todays posts as posts. I would be grateful if you could provide the url to display todays posts as posts. :)

mikem164 01-16-2010 12:10 AM

Any idea on how to change the color of the text? I've been looking and can't seem to come up with anytning. Thanks and keep up the good work!

DHewes 01-16-2010 02:32 AM

Great mod - easy to do, MUCH better than the template mod crap. As MANY people have said, three things:

1) This should be part of the default install - like any other CMS/Forum script (not your problem)

2) The selected tab really needs to be the one highlighted

3) Need a way to change the sub-navbar links along with the new tab, like the default links

Changing order of the new links and the default links is a fine idea, but I can live without it.

Great work, thanks!
