And before you did all that what was/is your admin usergroup id.Why are you trying to set up a usergroup that already exists?And what usergroup has an id of 60...

ok , I got it to get past step 3 in the install, it told me to delete file on server , after I did so , I went into my admin panel and it does not show up there . I have no options that say DNP music box

it's in the control panel not vboptions..if it's not there you missed something on uploading.

I uploaded all the files and used the install file to setup the db tables etc..setup completed. I do see the DNP settings in my vB cpanel..I created a category, artist and album. But how do i add media ? or media links??? ! I am logged in as admin and I do not see any links on the http://127.0.0.1/myforum/music.php page.

Please make sure you upload the content of upload folder in the package under your forum root. Note http://127.0.0.1 is the local address, where do you read this from?
Also verify that DnPMusicbox_Settings.php exists on the same forum root folder too

Ever since I upgraded to 1.0.5 I have been having errors all over my forum. So now I am trying to uninstall and I can't. I can't get rid of the tables, my screen is extending way over...

When I try to get rid of the tables myself, I get this message:

"An error occurred while attempting to execute your query. The following information was returned.

error desc: Unknown table 'music_album'"

This musicbox DOES NOT interfere or hook into any component on your forum. It is designed to get information from the forum, not changing any on it. Verify what modification have you installed recently, as well as describe for me what steps have you done and how did you attempt to get rid of the tables yourself ? You can pm me these information if you would want to.

To post an article , simple set Type = article on postpage and fill description box for article content (bbcode supported)

Normal users do not have permission to:
- Add category
- Add album (well, not yet)
- Add weblinks (we don't want spam and flooding on the forum with external,ad links)

Normal users may (all options are optional - settings are in Configurations)
- Add Artist
- Post/Edit Media
- Post/Edit Article

Go back to first post and download the attachment improved_installer_for_v1.0.5 , upload the content of v1.0.5 , then upload the new installer. Now start install_dnp_musicbox.php as normal. That will help the process of upgrading easier ;)

hope you will reconsider. Because my users want to help out badly and of course i wouldnt allow permission from newbies but only allow my usergroup who made 500 posts plus. giving permission to specific usergroups is the best solution. older and loyal members tend to know the rules and what not to post so please reconsider

oh and also by allowing permission to normal users it enablesmeto have a musicbox staff so they can maintain the box whileadminstrator can maintain the site as some sites got more chores to do and adding another one will only be more stressful

Make use of the admin_groupid_allowed , you can add multiple group ids to manage the musicbox along with the administrator. Of course they can delete/edit/post media but they cannot access musicbox admincp.

And yeah, admin work is hard, but it'll pay off and fulfill your goal. :up:

of seeing this modification progress and not had one problem. As with major mods like this, a lot of reading is required and not just a case of skipping through. Thats were problems start.

My members use free file streaming services and embed their personal video's..Now that the videos are in their own catagory,they are easier to find and comment on,rather than them keep making useless post's on open forum. A major mod for my site and well done m8..:up:

Thank you for the info , you were correct , the dnp xml file I uploaded was put in the wrong place in the forum directory , I popped it in the right place and it now shows in my vbull control panel , thanks again !!!

Ah I know. Most of problems occur on client side where basic instruction has not been read carefully. Too bad the post is limited to 20k characters so I don't intend to type down any detail guide yet.

I have a test server set up on my home pc which is running an off-line version of my site fine. However, when I navigate to forum/install_dnp_musicbox.php (after uploading all files to their respective directories) all I get is a page that's all over the place:

This happens the first time I try to navigate to the (improved_installer_for_v1.0.5) install file, although I've also tried ?do=setup_database&confirm=continue3 etc. and checked to see that the tables aren't created in my database.

Given no one else is having this problem I'm assuming it's some server configuration I have that's causing the problem. Any ideas on what I could try? I'm running MySQL 5.1.33, PHP 5.2.9 with Apache 2.2.11 on Vista.

:rolleyes: hey, from the screenshot, i guess if you enable PHP short_open_tag then it'll work for you. I'm always use VertrigoServ , it's pretty good.
