Glad I could be of service.

I've just updated the Danny's FAQ for AME 2.5 as well as my Definitions FAQ. They've been spread out amongst the first five posts of this thread. Please review them for any questions you may have.

Annapurna 01-07-2009 01:57 PM

At least I'm in the right thread now ;)...

Downloaded the master.xml but google-Video (hosted) still doesn't work.

Unfortunately the four Internal Linking definitions don't work either.
No matter which link I use, it's always reduced to trekkingforum.com/forum/
no more. The rest of the link ie the "showthread.php" part is missing.

One minor issue:
Wikipedialinks only work if there's no "(" or anything in the link:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_(Planet) is not working
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus is working

A.

Let me see an example of that, as it may have something to do with AME 2.5 that I can tweak right quick.

Let me see this one, too. Check to make sure that vBulletin is not parsing the link like it's doing above where it stops parsing the link right before the final ")". Try moving the closing [/url] tag in Standard Editor mode to be sure.

I can show it in my forum.
Please check your PM.

I have a question, for some reason whenever anything is embedded it doesn't seem to show the correct title. ie. it'll just say "YouTube" or "**Internal Linking (Threads)".

I'm pretty sure I have that setting set to "Yes", but still nothing. It's been like that since I installed the definitions back in November, but I didn't realize it until now.

Any thought on how I could fix that?

Looks like that particular video is blocked from being embedded.

Check to see that Extract Destination Data is enabled on both the definitions and under Settings. If it's disabled under settings, then it will be turned off globally.

Dear DJ
wonderful job you have done so far.

i do have a suggestion though. is it possible that the master xml you always update, have the ability to over write the existing definitions and not add them?

if this can be done, then our work would be cut off to a great deal. in this way we dont have to go through each definition everytime to confirm whether it is a new or an old one. please do take this into consideration:)

There's no way to get definitions to overwrite with the way AME is designed, and that's probably for the best, as you could easily loose definitions that you didn't want to loose by an accidental import.

However, you don't have to go through the Master XML or the Main ZIP to get just the updated definitions. I always attach those updates separately in my **UPDATES** posts for people who've already gotten started. And I always post What's New and What's Updated so people know what to delete. And now I'm going to start attaching the the Updates files as XMLs and ZIPs for everyone's convenience, like I did here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost....&postcount=196

Nadeemjp 01-08-2009 06:53 AM

oh ok if you can do that, it would be great:)

MarkJW 01-08-2009 05:11 PM

Is it possible to get the HD/HQ videos to show up in a wide/widescreen format? Because currently they're windowboxed.

ArnyVee 01-08-2009 05:34 PM

Mark, mine show in widescreen. For example...

http://www.waltdisneyboards.com/vide...magic-109.html

...just make sure that the video is an actual HD one and that you change the HTTP to HDEF and you should be fine.

Edited: Whoops, answered a similar question on the Video Directory-remixed thread and got confused and posted something similar here :)

HD videos already display Widescreen, although constrained to fit into your player. Are you referring to the size of your video player? Because you can change that by changing the Height and Width attributes in the Replacement HTML. If your getting a Windowboxed video, then that's probably because the video was uploaded in that format.

It's set in both. It seemed to work for Google and Wikipedia last night, but never for YouTube, zShare, Megavideo, Amazon, etc.

I'm sorry if I seem dense but I am unsure about how I am supposed to treat the master XML (delta) file.

I've usually just deleted all the other definitions and then imported the master xml file with all the definitions in the "3 times a charm" mod you provide.

Here, it's called a "delta". Is that a "delta" from the "3 times a charm" definitions? Am I supposed to import that one and then this delta definitions file?

I'm running the 2.5rc1 version

Focus2 01-10-2009 11:41 PM

Is streetfire working for you guys or did they change their protocol ?

You may want to check my FAQ in post 2, as that should answer most of your questions. But, from the FAQ:

Answer: The definitions from the "Third Time's the Charm" thread are for AME 2.0.2, but will mostly work in AME 2.5. The AME definitions from the "Delta" thread will only work in AME 2.5.

I've not had a reason to test it in a good long while, but it's entirely possible. Send me a couple of links that you've been having trouble with.

Been Told 01-11-2009 05:19 PM

I'm having trouble using some of these... Clipfish for example won't work for me. Or FoxNews. I just import the definitions one by one and those two (out of about 10-12 I have tried) don't work. The Links in posts appear as links, not as embeded Videos.

If you give temporary Admin CP access I'll be happy to take a look and see what the problem might be.

This doesn't answer my question.

So the AME 2.0.2 XML definitions "mostly work" with 2.5. I understand that.

What happens if I install the 2.0.2 Master definitions and then apply the 2.5 "Delta" Master Definitions?

As we know, when we import definitions they are additive. Are there duplicate definitions in the 2.5 "delta" to the 2.02 definitions? Are there any 2.0.2 definitions that are not included in the 2.5 definitions?

Your description is very confusing. In the 2.0.2 definitions Mod, you are very explicit about what one can do with a fresh install. Here you are not explicit. I want a full set of definitions. What will happen if I delete all definitions and simply import the 2.5 "Delta" definitions? "Delta" implies there is something that needs to be added to another set so should I apply the 2.0.2 definitions?

I'm not sure how I could be any clearer. As I explained, "Delta" is just a named I picked at random. It doesn't imply anything, I thought it sounded cool. Import these just like you would any other set definitions. Delete your old ones, import the new ones. Nothing different to do here.

Thanks for the clarification. Believe it or not, the random "name" delta actually does cause confusion. Most computer folk are technically oriented (I have a couple of engineering degrees) and delta is very regularly used in common parlance to denote an incremental change to something, as Δ or δ. Clarifying that it was picked at random is helpful and I doubt I'm going to be the first to be confused by the name choice.

DJ, that isn't correct. Youtube windowboxes HQ/HD videos that are encoded as widescreen so that they fit in the default size box for some unknown reason. Even my videos, which I know are widescreen HD/HQ, show up in windowboxes.

The easiest fix is to manually set the wrapper HTML's width and height to any 16:9 ratio resolution.

Great mod!!!!!!!!!!!

I am running 2.5 and when I load a thread with imbedded WMV files it autostarts. The code has a FALSE value for autostart so not understanding what the problem is.

I sometimes have multiple videos per thread so having all them autoplay is a real PITA.

Thanks!

EDIT: Seems to autostart only with Firefox, but ok with Explorer. Mmmm???

Well, I don't think most folks, at least not here, will be familiar with such advanced terminology. And I do explain in the first post, albeit briefly, why "Delta". I don't think it will come up too much. And it's not entirely untrue in the sense that it's only an incremental change in the definitions. And as detailed as I am about this stuff, if there had been any special instructions, I would have made sure to include them. :)

That's fine, I just find it generally faster then going through the motions of asking the pertinent Yes/No questions. To kind of streamline things, check all your settings and make sure you've set them to do what they say they do. Disable New Items should be set to No, Extract Destination Data needs to be turned on both globally AND per definitions that require them. Depending on the version you're using you could have the wrong set of definitions installed, so check to make sure if your using this set, that your on AME 2.5. If that all checks out, then we'll try something else.

No problemo.

Here's how it appears on my forums, windowboxed: http://www.aionsource.com/forum/news...ource-com.html

Here's proof that it's obviously a widescreen encode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?fmt=22&v=TjalKQMf_Ps

The windowbox on Youtube is due to the source files already being windowboxed before I started editing in Vegas. You can see that the 4:3 box on my website makes the black border larger. If I manually set the HTML wrapper for HD encodes to be wide (taking out the $ameinfo[width] and height arguments and replacing them with hardcoded values) then the video will display as intentioned.

Firefox doesn't support Windows Media embedding very well at all, so I'm no suprised it doesn't obey the autostart setting. Another one of those semantics things MS fights over with the entirety of the educated internet, trying to get everyone else to adopt because they're to lazy to do things right the first time around. At least it's not Apple and Quicktime, or we'd have a bunch of rabid fanboys jumping down our throats to make their little hippy club happy.

I was waiting for someone to send me some video embed code, since there doesn't seem to be a way to browse videos on the site. I've got one so far, and I can compare them to the videos on mine to see if it will work.

This video is playing, for me at least, in widescreen/letterbox format and not windowbox. I see the upper and lower black bars are larger, and is to be expected with the players aspect ratio being less rectangular then the video. But I don't see any windowboxing or pillaring occurring, neither in IE nor in FireFox.

The demo is my development area, so not all threads you see are working websites. Only go by what I have listed in the first post as supported websites.

Ah, yes. ClipFish has apparently done some updating. I believe I mentioned this in the other thread last night. Since ClipFish is now blocking my country from viewing the videos, I'm going to need some sample URLs and embed codes to work with, and then someone will have to test the definitions for me. I'd need at least ten URLs with their corresponding embed codes to get started.

Okay, here we go. Appearently Clipfish doesn't allow sharing of music videos (which they themselves upload and/or classify as such) or "special video" (when they show exclusive clips of TV shows that they are partners with). For all other videos, it's ok.

Also with the links, there are variations. It can be: http://www.clipfish.de/video/2810695/family-guy/ or http://www.clipfish.de/video/2810695/

Depending on if you take the URL in the browser's address bar or their "share this" link. The share link is without the title, the browser address bar is with.

I have attached a text file with 10 videos.
