Got it to work, Syrus. But I don't think I see the tool tips on this version, right?

Yes, tooltips were removed from v2.0 due to excessive sql queries being made. Another reason was each tooltip would require a field from vBulletin, but the User Albums have no titles for images, therefore it was all removed.

This may change when other bridges are released.

The photoplog bridge will be released soon, hopefully by then this will become a product installation.

No... don't bother if it sucks query.....

btw, can you see if you can make it read UTF-8 font type????

A UTF-8 font can be used, but I will need to do a few changes to the compiled source of the igallery. I look into this later.

IMPORTANT (Affects version 2.0 only)

Some album images missing after installation
ISSUE: Some users have mentioned images missing from Profiles and Albums after installing this modification, the images have not been deleted they simply require a rebuild. Please do the following after installing this modification.

Go to your AdminCP -> User Albums -> Rebuild Thumbnails then click the 'Rebuild Album Picture Thumbnails' button.
This will fix the thumbnails not showing after installation. User Guides will updated to reflect this issue.

I did try this on your forum, but there seems to be a conflict with another modification which is preventing the Album Rebuild from working correctly.

Any mod that is resizing images should be disabled while you do the above thumbnail rebuild. You can always re-enable any image related modification after the aforementioned is completed.

vbboarder 08-17-2008 03:30 AM

Thanks for this amazing mod! Your mod is probably the most gorgeous in presentation!

I have a bug to report: this mod does not work unless both the album and thumbnail directories are located within VB forum directory. If these directories are located outside the VB forum directory, this mod does not work even if they are within the public htdocs folder.
A similar problem is if the thumbnails directory is located within VB forum directory but the albums directory is located outside the VB forum directory, then the image sphere will show but when an image is clicked, the flash script hangs because it can't find the album pics.

Thanks for the compliments! :)

It's not actually a bug, the bridging script is hardcoded only to work from inside the forum root, once this modification has its own AdminCP then the actual directories will allow images from anywhere including outside the webserver root. Basically, it was done this way to avoid confusion, eventhough it still has caused some confusion with some people, not knowing their correct paths on their servers.

Fanny Annie 08-17-2008 02:12 PM

well i have think its great also, but had to revert to the old version as the background loaded but no images.............path is correct as the path is pretty much as the plog pro is.

Please PM me your forum url, and I'll take a look at this for you. Please upload the vbi.php file though.

Hi there Syrus!

Many many thanks for this mod, it is beautiful!

I believe the question was asked in the past, but I couldn't find an answer. My site uses a fixed-width theme, which is smaller than the flash size. Is it possible to customize the size of the flash file? I was able to make the background smaller, but the flash still displays as if it is larger than what is displayed (i.e. "centered" is to the right a bit).

I would love to use this, but (unfortunately) I won't be able to until I can reduce the pixel size of the flash file.

syrus.xl 08-18-2008 04:19 PM

What sort of fixed size are you looking for? The igallery cannot be resized using jus the embed code, but it can be recompiled at a different size. At the moment, I'm not sure what to size this at, mainly because I use a 24" monitor and issues on sizing don't really matter to myself.... ;)

Would 800 or maybe 750 pixels still be too wide? I don't actually use fixed widths on my site, but I will do in the future.

Megatr0n 08-18-2008 04:31 PM

I noticed even guests can access this if they know the URL to the page. No way, we can prevent this?

syrus.xl 08-18-2008 04:34 PM

'canviewpermissions' is not yet available. This was only left out because the albums the gallery pulls from are public only.

Hi Syrus,

I've been looking this thread and not sure if this question was already posted here.

My albuns and thumbnails were already created and using a different path your mod use. How can I change your mod to my our album and thumbnails paths ?

Tks

Hi,

This mod will only read from the fixed paths set in the vbi.php file. Therefore if you wanted it to work you would need to move your images to the database then back to the new album structure. Later this will be changed, so it will use either the database or directory for pulling images, basically this was just a quick bridge to vBulletin User Albums without using a product XML install.

Regards,

That's the point, my pictures are already at the files system but out of the web structure for better safety. I was thinking in just editing your vbi.php file and change the paths to correct ones in my case.
Of course, if you allow me to do that and give me some directions for.

Anyway, if it works, I'm thinking about the brand free license. Could you give me the link at your page for it ? Tried to find it using the one supplied at main post with no luck.

Tks.

syrus.xl 08-18-2008 09:16 PM

It's not been tested outside the web root, but it should be easy to do.

Look inside the vbi.php for the $pictures_xml array - inside this array are the paths called xml_image_thumb_src and xml_img_src. Change these source paths as you see fit for your own file system.

If this doesn't work then the vbi.php file will require some extra coding, therefore it will be released as an update.

I haven't actually setup the brand-free license option on this product yet, I'm in the middle of changing ecommerce scripts. Once you've have it working on your forum, then we can chat about the brand-free option.

Regards.

750 should work just fine. I believe my "inside width" is something like 780px, so 800px would be slightly too big. A 750px size might (should?) accommodate most fixed-width themes.

I'll do this tomorrow for you. I'll release it as a smaller version, many people have asked for already, but I had no idea on widths required.

I was able to run it but only with thumbnails, when I click any one of them the swf freezes, I think because it can't find the album picture patch.

The thumbnails are correct displayed and I just changed the path for something like /myforum/thumbnails/0/

But as my albuns are out of the webroot I'm using something like /home/.dearths/mysite/www/images/0/ and that was exactly the patch I used on Vb when I changed the albums from database to file system.
Any ideas ?

By the way, I'm getting and error on IE that says: ?swfmacmousewheel? is null or not an object. I tried you demo at your site and gives me same error as well.

Hi,

It maybe because we are using a dynamic XML file which cannot read directories outside the webroot. It's like trying to browse a directory outside the web root with a standard browser, it is impossible. Therefore, we need to change this to work from a direct path instead of trying to use relative urls, which is how the igallery currently reads the image data.

We have made changes already to the bridge, which includes tweak settings - we will include in this a path setup instead of url pull.

The javascript error is a known issue which we are trying to fix, basically it is caused by the calls we have used within the main page so that Apple users can use all iGallery features as well as PC owners - making modifications to work cross-browser and cross-platform using flash and javascript can be a nightmare, but we will get there. A little later I'm trying a vBa CMPS block module to display the gallery, again this will be using a different call routine, but it may fix the issue we currently have.

We try and please users regarding support, our user guides are documented for use by even the new people to vBulletin. :)

Thanks for the comments!:)

That's right. Forgot totally about this in XML.

That would be great. I'm sure many others here have their album path out of their web root for the same reason as me: free database of extra load but still getting safety with it.

I've tried on FF and didn't get the same error, I just noticed it slower than IE to load all the thumbnails.

In fact I did some tests for vBa CMPS and it's just a matter of size. It works perfectly.
Considering the stile you have used for this mod, it'll only looks good as a central module, it'll look too small if you try to use it as a left or right module.
But like I said, just a matter of size to fit perfectly on CMPS.

It's a very well done User Guide for this product for sure.

syrus.xl 08-21-2008 01:30 AM

A path is now being added, instead of a relative url.

The js error is caused by Flash not yet being able to recognize Apple OS's - hence we have tried a workaround which is giving the error in browsers.

I will have to see about the vBa CMPS, there's been some mixed views on sizes, regarding the width.

Thanks for the comments! We are developing a Pro version of this modification, but its features are far more advanced, but they already include Flickr RSS support for population, YouTube video (chromeless), uploading of members own video clips, and much more. We should have a demo available soon, and all comments and most suggestions that have been made on this thread have been taken into consideration. Some of these features will be added to this free version, but not all - besides I cannot sell commercial scripts on here. :)

I'll have to check this out on 3.7.3 - I've not had the time lately to check and install this mod with 3.7.3.

I will try this out on a test install a little later.

Cool cool. Basically it gets stuck on "loading images 2/4"

I had to take the slashes out of the thumbs path, this has fixed the problem.

Thumbs may get stuck if the preloader detects that a thumbnail or main image is missing.

Also note, it will depend which version you have installed. v2.0 shouldn't lose any images if installed correctly, since it uses the vBulletin User Albums. However, in some cases you may need to do a 'Thumbnail Rebuild' in the User Album Manager if some thumbs are not showing.

Thanks for reporting this - I haven't had time to check it myself. I've been updating and designing a new modification that will display the whole 'vB iGallery' within another gallery, this may sound a strange thing to do but it pulls in YouTube videos (without using their player, and many other video formats directly, this means it can pull in virtually anything that is flash related, and play it - even flash games, if required! ;)

I've done all of that. Even limited it to pulling one album picture at a time and it still gets stuck half way.

I'm still anxious waiting for this....lol....please don't forget.

By the way, I was doing a lot of tests and customized your background to fit it to my board. It's looking great.

My idea is plave vB Igallery right bellow my forums on Forumhome not only as a separate vB page and just a extra link on Navbar as suggested on your instruction manual.

Any suggestion how to do this ?

Tks.
