Ohiosweetheart, replied to your thread @ vbseo.com Chewy954, make sure that you have 0777 permissions set for vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder. ps2wiz, you should submit sitemap as http://yourforumsroot/sitemap_index.xml.gz (NOT http://yourforumsroot/vbseo_sitemap/...p_index.xml.gz ). Also, make sure that the site entry you added in webmaster account has "www." in domain name. |
Hello VBSEO Team, I am a VBSEO customer and also have sitemaps, I have uploaded all the files into the right places and CHMOD 777 on the data folder. But when I go to 'myforum'/vbseo_sitemap.xml.gz I get this message 'Page not found'. I have gone over and over, but everything seems to be isntalled in the right places the sitemaps console panel under vbulletin options works, but sitemap does not. Please help, vbseo installed fine I don't know why the problem for me with sitemaps, I have even uninstalled sitemaps and resinstalled it. For somereason no site map XML file is in my root directory, the software is meant to create an XML file for the site map automatically right? My data directory does show a vbseo_sitemap.xml.gz in it, but there is no such file if I go to my root directory either vbseo_sitemap.xml.gz or vbseo_sitemap.xml? There is no sitemap
Info about my server/webhosting from my vbulletin control panel: Server Type Linux Web Server Apache v1.3.39 (cgi) PHP 4.4.7 PHP Max Post Size 8.00 MB PHP Maximum Upload Size 2.00 MB MySQL Version 5.0.51a-community MySQL Packet Size 15.00 MB Thanks from Josh |

Just recently installed vbSEO 3.2 Gold and the vBSEO Sitemap generator 2.2 and I have a few problems:
1. Sitemap generator isn't working, throws database error (table vb_linkback does not exist) This is on PHP 5.2 using MySQL 5.0.24a with the MySQLi connector 2. vbSEO seems to be working but it's trying to rewrite my css file urls and breaking my template. Specifically this css file: http://forums.gamer-junkie.com/annou...82b2-00001.css Should be: http://forums.gamer-junkie.com/clien...82b2-00001.css |
Just wanted to post a reply here as a follow up. I was able to get help over on the vbseo forums and it turns out that my vbseo install was corrupted.
After a re-install of vbseo everything is working (sitemap generator AND url rewrites). |
Hello,
I have install this mod. But i can't find any sitemap for my site: For Example: When i type ( http://www.site.com/sitemap.xml ) i see 404 error. |
if you are in /forums,
your sitemap will be yourdomain.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz if you aren't in /forums then yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz |

has it been run yet? if you just installed it, you will either
1) wait until the cron runs (usually 3am) 2) run it manually from the /vbseo_sitemap/ portal |
Which would be better? A Sitemap or nice clean SEO URLS?
|
Nice work - as must be expected from you.
Installed, of course. |

'seo urls' (read, keywords in the link) aren't that important. it's a STATIC url with one-resource with one-access method that's important. all this t= p= printthread= archive= mode=threaded mode=hybrid crap that kills your SEO. on a 20-post topic (assuming a single page in options), there's literally 1 t 20 p 1 archive 1 t + threaded 1 t + hybrid 20 p + threaded 20 p + hybird 1 print all for the same exact resource and then there's the individual show posts, so, add another 20. With default vB on a normal 20 post thread, you have nearly 90 options to view the exact same thing. 90. which one should google index? which one is more important? THAT'S what kills your SEO. you end up fighting yourself for ranking, which puts you to the bottom. The sitemap generator is merely a suggestion of urls for bots to go to. it is not the be-all end all. |
I get this error message when I try to run sitemap generator could someone please help me? :(

Please follow the readme directions.
You need to chmod your data/ folder to 777 |

thanks for that

I haven't run tfseo, nor will i ever, so i can't comment on it.
IMO, most ideal to least ideal: 1) vbseo + sitemap 2) some other single url per content source url thing + hacked sitemap code to compensate for the links 3) some other single url per content source url thing 4) stock vb + sitemap |

Spinball,
try to uninstall and reinstall the product file again. |
Thank you for this, installed and nominated :D
I have a problem though. When I click my Google sitemap URL (http://www.northwestfirearms.com/for...p_index.xml.gz) I get this: Quote:

Check your .htaccess file, as if I remember rightly the addon setup the rewrite to the forum root, which by the way is really where the sitemap should be to comply ;).
|
I appreciate the reply. Unfortunately, that didn't work :(
|
Do you have something in the "Sitemap Files URL" of the vBSEO Sitemap Settings (ACP -> vBSEO -> vBSEO Sitemap Settings) by any chance?
If so remove it, save the changes and try again. You might also want to read through this. |
Still getting the same message about the vbseo_getsitemap.php not being found. What interesting is even if I copy the sitemap .gz file to either the host root (/) or the forum root (forum/) it still comes up with that error message instead of letting me view/download the file.
|
Another thing is even when I have all those settings correct (the rewrite and all that in the .htaccess) it still doesn't put a copy of the sitemap in the host root or the forum root.
|
It has to be a problem with the .htaccess file. When I delete it, I can see the files in the root directory just fine, upload them to google, etc. When it's there in the root directory I get the vbseo_getsitemap.php not found error.
|
Try to add this in .htaccess:

^^ He means "RewriteBase /forum/"
|
I think that may have done it :D
Thank you for all the help! |
Thank you again!! Your the best!!
TWO Installs (shortly) :) |
I am using this hack. Recently I am geting below message from my Google Sitemap. How can I solve problem? Pls help me immediately.
URLs not followed When we tested a sample of the URLs from your Sitemap, we found that some URLs were not accessible to Googlebot because they contained too many redirects. Please change the URLs in your Sitemap that redirect and replace them with the destination URL (the redirect target). All valid URLs will still be submitted. |
