ATT isnt working for me.. and even if I email myself a message through my regular email account using the same format, it doesnt come through to my phone.

AT&T works for me like a charm.
|
I think a lot of this is going to end up being server/host related and not related to the product itself.

Could be an iPhone thing.. do you happen to have an iPhone with ATT? |
No, I have a Nokia N95-3 and a Sony Ericsson w910i (both not even carried by AT&T) and it worked on both of those.
|
It works on the Motorola RAZR v3xx with AT&T just fine, also. Make sure you enter it as 123456789, with no spaces or dashes.

Mine doesn't show the email:

The only thing I can think of is that some people are inadvertantly selecting the wrong company (i.e. AT&T when it should be Cingular, maybe... who knows), or some carriers' email to text services suck and they're delaying or dropping emails like crazy. Like I said, though, it might work to try using a similar carrier. Try Cingular if AT&T doesn't work. Try Qwest if Sprint doesn't work. So on and so forth... that's my best idea, because I know the emails are correct for them and the mod has nothing to do with what happens once your email hits the cell phone company. |
Actually, having the US ones listed first makes sense as there are quite a few of them.

Nice hack - however not one single member has recieved the pin code
installed on vb 3.7.2 UK carriers - from Vodafone / O2 main culprits Thanks |

I second that, been waiting on a pin code for 5 days now LOL UK o2 :( Edit: Just a thought but should the user be putting in his number with +44 (for UK) when you try and put that in it state's that only numbers must be used or does the hack do that ? |
I'm thinking the PIN code was a good idea gone bad. Not really needed, I would think.
|
did u ever fix this issue? thanks

I take it the must be a way to get a pm sent when a thread is started and so notified on by sms?
|
|
how about Macedonia :D ??
|
Can i use it for VBB 3.6.x?
|
This works great. All my site members can & have used it. Pin codes were received without issues. I like getting text messages from my site, telling me that I have a pm waiting on me. This will come in very handy.

Hi there,
it is a great tool. One Bugfix for Germany T-Mobile: The mailadress should be number@t-mobile-sms.de. This is wirtten there http://www.t-mobile.de/mms/0,9622,13789-_,00.html |

I'm working my butt off on version 1.2 right now. It's pretty badass. :D Lots of administrative options like usergroup permissions, a reporting system that will report which companies/emails work so I can start weeding out the non-working ones, and all kinds of cool stuff. Keep an eye out, I'm getting closer to finishing it every day. |
Thanks
Working great for me on the o2 network.:) |
can we do something like, users adding their mobile numbers while registering?

EDIT: Can you add Cricket to the list? email is number@mycricket.com ALSO: How do I make US at the very top as my forums are for US. Bug: My members have told me that they have not received a PIN yet! |
Great mod! I'm excited to use it with my members.
One error-- fresh install on 3.7.1 PL2 using vbGallery photo add-on. Upon entering the confirmation PIN I get this on the top of the next page that displays Your Number and SMS Options: "Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in [path]/includes/vbgallery/usercp_nav_start.php on line 30". Not a show stopper but would like fix it before announcing it. Any idea what the conflict might be? Here is line 25-35 in that usercp_nav_start.php: Quote:

You should be able to take out Cingular since, you know, it's AT&T now.
|

Just a quick update on the Orange issue..................
Your number must have the e-mail facility set up on the orange site firstly (which is here) then after you recieve the settings and its set up on your phone ie orange.net, then you can use the system. Another point to remember is when you set the mail up (which is free by the way) and you send the message from your forum to activate the pin number sending, the first message you recieve on your phone probably wont have the pin in the message but you can "hear" the pin by accessing your email via the "listening to your email" option (option3) and from then onwards the system works fine and dandy with text alerts via your phone. Why the first text doesnt have the pin shown but you can hear it is something im not sure of. This maybe the case with other people using this system and not recieving the pin as the mail is not set up on the specific cell provider etc...... Just a bit of advice if it helps anyone. |
Thats is a GREAT IDEA and I´d love to use that also in Germany.
I installed it and all went just smooth, but deinstalled, because it aint free in Germany to receive such a sms and furthermore you´ll have to activate such a service on your phone over here - which just suxx. cheers .. keep up that great work! |
Thanks for the continued suggestions and feedback, and for the Mod of the Month nomination :o :D haha.
Version 1.2 will fix a lot of issues and have a lot of good features, and will be much more worthy of nomination, though. ;) |
