    </dependencies>

Change 3.7.99 to 3.8.99.

Once it's installed, enable it and set the other options in Admin CP | vBulletin Options | Advanced Quick Reply Settings .

It also needs to be enabled for each forum:

Admin CP | Forums and Moderators | Forum Manager -> Edit Forum - scroll down to Can use 'Advanced Quick Reply' and set it to yes.

It also needs to be enabled for each usergroup.

If you have the product installed and the Quick Reply enhancements aren't showing up, re-check these steps.

yep this works with 3.8.4 PL1 :)

Maybe do you update it to vb4?

compact123 01-06-2010 06:33 PM

Does this work for Vb 4.0 Gold? Please I pray it does...?

akee 01-10-2010 04:58 AM

It doesn't work yet. I hope, the coder will upgrade it to vB 4

Looks great. Looks comprehensive. Wanted for 4.x. Funny seeing your 3.x screenshot side by side with 4.x. Why oh why did 4.x move over to such wishy-washy smilies?

Tagged to install next week.

I just copied over my old smilies from 3.x. They work fine.

Thanks for the tip. For admin noobies, is this as simple as copying a directory over, or is something else involved? Since I never had 3.x, where would I get hold of those gifs/pngs?

Yes, it's too old replies. But I can't proceed without replying on every question & commenting on everyone's post here. Showing respect for those who posted asking for questions, tried to help others, suggested new features or just thanked for the cool product is a must. That's the reason :).

Yes, that's right. v2.0.0 was compatible with 3.8.x. By the way there's a new release that's officially compatible with 3.8.x & 4.0.x, that's 4.0.100. It's highly recommended to upgrade to that release & get benefit of it's new features & it's stability.

I am now considering upgrading but the upgrade instructions say * Un-do any previous file edits done for this product (It's better to restore the default vBulletin files).

I'm not sure where you would get a copy of the old smiles if you never owned 3.x. Isn't there an option to download it from your Member Area where your licenses are listed? Alternatively, I guess you could go to a 3.x forum site and download them using "save picture as" from posts.

Once you have them saved in a folder called "smiles", upload that folder via FTP to /images/smiles/ overwriting the new files.

Or find a set of smilies you like online, upload those, and delete the standard 4.x ones from your ACP.

Silly question, but I can't seem to open the JS file needed to edit in the client scrip. Do I need a specific program to do this? I can edit php files etc. and everything else, but I can't seem to open the JS file. Thank you.

Edit: Nevermind I got it.

Quick question though, I have custom mod editors from my forum (ie. google maps, photobucket slideshow etc), however they are not brought over to the visitor message, album area etc. Are there any way to bring these functions over from the forum to the rest of the site? Thank you in advance. Installed and nominated!

By the way, if you need to change product's compatibility you can change the max-version to something like that: 3.8.99 but not 3.8.x :). Any way you didn't need that now, just install the new version straight :).

Sorry, but I'm not sure what do you mean. Do you mean the background of the text area?
If yes, the you can put your own CSS in the "Additional CSS" for styling all text areas, or you can edit CSS fields for the "Input Fields" which will affect all input fields including text areas. I hope that helps.

Yes, there was a way to do so, it's by editing just a small line in the product's ML file.
But currently you don't need such edit, the new release 4.0.100 is more easier & straight forward. All of it's settings more user friendly & it's possible to include/exclude forums/users/usergroups/styles easily by simple clicks.

Instead of requiring a manual JS edit, why not just do something like this in your file, assuming it's included after vbulletin_quick_reply.js:

Code:

qr_hide_errors2 = qr_hide_errors;
qr_hide_errors = function(){ qr_hide_errors2(); phpkd_vbaqr(); };

sorry for the stupid question....but how i know whether my vbulletin_quick_reply.js is compressed version or not compressed ??

After opening the JS file "vbulletin_quick_reply.js" you'll see it's code written in only one line (if opened in good IDE such as eclipse/aptana studio/zend studio/), and all spaces/line breaks are omitted, in that case it's the compressed version. Otherwise you'll see the code well formatted & there's normal white spaces between expressions & line breaks between blocks & so on. By the way the default vBulletin package that's available for download from members area contains the compressed version & no one (except developers) download the uncompressed version of javascript files, so you don't have to worry about it.
Also, currently with v4.0.100 the installation procedure is very easy & straight forward, just follow that one simple step & you're done :).

Try to download uncompressed version and just replace .js files with some ftp program.

Make sure you aren't using any other products/addons/plugins for the same purpose "adding features for quick reply".
You've to uninstall any other products that adds any features to the quick reply, and just keep this product which will do all the work since it contains all expected (and not expected ;) ) features. Any modified templates related to the quick reply should be reverted also.

It isn't possible by default without manual template edit to apply your custom layout for your forums. It's the same case if you wish to do the same thing to the default advanced editor mode (adding threads/replies).
By the way, if you still need such layout tell me & I'll give you instructions on how to do it.

Open this file in a plain text editor. Look for:

Code:

        <dependencies>
                <dependency dependencytype="vbulletin" minversion="3.7.0" maxversion="3.7.99" />
        </dependencies>

It's finally out :).
v4.0.100 release is out & available for use, it's fully compatible with both vB 3.8.x & vB 4.0.x ;).
Please enjoy the new release & have fun with it. Don't hesitate to suggest any new features :cool: .

Note: v2.0.0 was compatible with 3.8.x (unofficially, with a little edit for the product's XML file).

I align to left default vbulletin boxes, but can not find for this quick reply and quick edit (your MODs).

It should be somewhere in phpkd_aqr_showthread_quickreply template, but couldn't find where to put align="left".

Could someone show me exactly what and where.

Thank you....

Please Upgrade to the latest stable release 4.0.100 & if you've any issues tell me. I'll be happy to assist you.

Maybe another hack I have installed made it so it wouldn't work.

Please follow installation procedure of the new release 4.0.100 & tell me if you've any issues.

Yes, it's too old replies. But I can't proceed without replying on every question & commenting on everyone's post here. Showing respect for those who posted asking for questions, tried to help others, suggested new features or just thanked for the cool product is a must. That's the reason :).

Please remember to click Mark as Installed if you use this product.
Support requests from members who have not marked this as installed will be considered low priority.

Running 4.0.2.

Same here. :erm:

Went thru and double checked the install. I can not see anything missed.

Update: I went through and fiddled a bit. It seems that if I only select one style to apply it to, it works in the style. If I select multiple styles, it does not. Can we get and All Styles button? Thanks.

OK another followup: Set the style selection to 'Select Styles' and it works in all styles.
On another note, my smileys are running off to the right, not up and vertically. Any ideas?

robbiefritz 03-09-2010 11:44 PM

I hate to seem to be picking this apart but I love this mod from the past. I turned off the option to display smilies below editor. This put smilies to the right of the editor. Thanks again.

Apologies for the off-topic question and reply:

I'm not sure where you would get a copy of the old smiles if you never owned 3.x. Isn't there an option to download it from your Member Area where your licenses are listed? Alternatively, I guess you could go to a 3.x forum site and download them using "save picture as" from posts.

Once you have them saved in a folder called "smiles", upload that folder via FTP to /images/smiles/ overwriting the new files.

Or find a set of smilies you like online, upload those, and delete the standard 4.x ones from your ACP.

Sounds great you got it :).
Fore those who may ask about editing JS files, it's simply possible using notepad, but notepad++ recommended. If you're a coder, then you can open & edit it using your favorite IDE.
Regarding those products that you've such as google maps & others, please refer to their programmers asking them about the ability to bring functionality on other places.

Go back to your Members area where you downloaded vBulletin. Download it again, this time clicking "Other options" and selecting the version with "Uncompressed Javascript".

Dear, it isn't required.
You can go with the default files included in the default package (the compressed JS).

Code:

qr_hide_errors2 = qr_hide_errors;
qr_hide_errors = function(){ qr_hide_errors2(); phpkd_vbaqr(); };

Not sure it will succeed with our product's features. But will try it. Thanks for your suggestion.

Hello Dear, this product doesn't affect the advanced editor in any way. It deals with the quick reply only & that's why your problems isn't due to our product.
By the way this issue is very simple, just follow the following steps to change the editor's mode:
User Control Panel -> Edit Options -> Miscellaneous Options -> Message Editor Interface -> Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls/Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing
Every user has this issue should do so, or you can apply one setting over all users from AdminCP by following these steps:
Maintenance -> Execute SQL Query -> Automatic Query -> Show Standard Editor Toolbar/Show Enhanced (WYSIWYG) Editor Toolbar

Again, this isn't something related to our product. Just trying to help.
Please don't hesitate to install our product again after fixing this issue & supply us with your welcomed feedback ;).

mandingo 03-15-2010 09:03 PM

I got it working,I failed to revert my template after disabling other hacks. Great mod!

swiftor 03-16-2010 03:25 AM

I wasn't able to get this working. I don't have any other hacks that edit quick reply (to my knowledge), and I edited the js file as instructed (although I edited it after I uploaded the xml file, but would that make a difference?)

When turned on, the quick reply box just doesn't show at all. Any thoughts?
