Thank you!!

Saved me from cyber terror!

MarkoP 10-26-2008 11:56 PM

Can someone modify this so that we can be sure google bots are not blocked by it?

I'll pay someone to do it...

Deviant K1 10-30-2008 09:16 AM

INSTALLED! Thanks for the hack!:)

mangus580 11-04-2008 02:31 AM

Interesting thought...

I have been using this as I bring my new install up... works good, but when you have mulitple messages pending to be read, the 'slow' users have a hard time with it.

Maybe It could list out the thread titles on the page that says admin wants you to read, and maybe a better way of 'checking them off' as they are read?

I fear people read it, use the back button, get back to the message, and get stuck in an ID-10T loop...

tafreeh 11-04-2008 06:50 AM

great post but how do edit the error message ?

lionslair 11-07-2008 07:13 AM

I search this thread but didn't find a response. Is there a quick way for a moderator or the creator of the new thread to quickly add the new thread the the must read list?

jammiedodger546 11-12-2008 06:37 PM

Installed on 3.8. Unfortunately it does not save the form, so it doesn't work in 3.8. Any chance of a fix?

jammiedodger546 11-12-2008 06:46 PM

Ah, sorry. It works perfectly on 3.8! Didn't put correct thread id!! :p

DOH!

Great mod!

Merriweather 11-12-2008 11:19 PM

Many of my users reported not being able to ever get past the message that I've asked them to read. Ideas as to why?

I run into that alot... I think they use their 'back' button. I also suspect its worse if you have multiple threads required... Hence the reason for my request above.

effeff70 11-13-2008 05:35 PM

Thanks a lot.....

chikkoo 11-15-2008 02:06 PM

The old version was having an option at the Thread Tool, now I don't get it? Is it by default, or only I am having the problem.

SatSeeker 11-18-2008 01:54 PM

Thank you, Abe1... This hack works great. Although, I've struggled a bit at first due to my ignorance. So, I went back to the Force users template and re-assigned the force with proper thread ID and forum location that makes the hack worked as designed.

However, I have 1 question:

How do I change or add additional message to the default message ".... administrator want...." with unicode (utf-8) language (vietnamese)? Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Thanks again!

Regards,

SS

Chevy II 11-28-2008 01:46 AM

I've just installed in on version 3.7.0 and it installed without a problem and works, but works to good.

The info screen opens, and I read the thread, then I go back to the forum and it wants me to read again and again. There is no way to go into the forum, until I disable this mod for the forum.

Can anyone help?

OK, since I excluded showthread.php, I guess this is the reason why it now does not register when members look at the thread in question. So they keep getting bugged about it and can not use the forum.

Any ideas?

Abe1, could you be so kind to respond to this?

vB 3.7.4

Info screen opens again and again, if you go to the forum for which the force read was set.

Unusable.

Same thing, and I'm not hitting the back button.

I guess there is no fix for this or it's a common problem???

SNATCH3R 12-06-2008 04:32 AM

I had recently upgraded by forum to 3.7.4 PL1

I have custom usergroups in my forum. When I mention Moderator Group to view a thread, I got to see both the Registered user and Moderator Group in the Admin CP. But I am sure I didn't select Registered user, and it comes by default.

Even I tried to add just the Registered User, and I could see twice Registered user in the Admin CP

Hope somebody can help me on this.

Thanks

Chevy II 12-06-2008 06:28 PM

OK done. UNINSTALLED do to the lack of support. I will try https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=177559 to see if it meets my needs.

MindStar 12-09-2008 02:25 PM

Broken for me in vB3.7.4PL1, have uninstalled until it's fixed.

Something appears to be wrong with recording that a user has read a thread; users get stuck in a loop forced to read the thread over and over again.

Same here but I'm still on 3.7.3 PL 1....doing it to me also. Will have to remove until I find something better I guess.

MarkoP 12-16-2008 05:09 PM

Abe,

How about fixing this problem with people getting stuck in a loop having to read the same thread over and over.

Would be nice if you could at least respond.

I'll pay you if needed...

30thta436 12-18-2008 08:07 AM

I have 3.7.4 and it works good.

But, is there away to log or verify the users who have already been forced to read it?

raagaswaram 12-19-2008 03:19 AM

i installed the mod on my 3.6.8 forum but it keeps asking the user to revisit the thread even though the user already visited the thread once

nalexandre 12-19-2008 09:05 AM

Hello, where can i find this? I?m using VB 3.6.4

Quote:

Open file global.php

Find:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
if (!empty($db->explain))
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Place BEFORE:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
($hook = vBulletinHook::fetch_hook('global_setup_complete') ) ? eval($hook) : false;
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Save file.

Open file includes/xml/hooks_vbulletin.xml

Find:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
<hook>global_start</hook>
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Place AFTER:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
<hook>global_setup_complete</hook>
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks

Wired1 12-19-2008 03:33 PM

FYI, works fine for me w/ vB 3.7.4 PL1.

Perhaps those w/ issues should list what OTHER mods they have? Maybe there's a commonality.

momo2 12-25-2008 01:51 PM

It's gr8 but please add a timer or my reply or thank click, bi cuz as soon someone goes there, they can leave asap and this is a problem... most people do not spend time to see or to read, but if u force them they have no choice.. Regardless Installed..

PS it worked only once, and now stopped working, i used different id's so as other staffs, it does not work, like i said it worked only once on me as admin...
