Hello there... So after looking at all kinds of ways of implementing ads Ive decided to go with this... Ive followed the instructions (I believe step by step), gone to admin panel and set everything... But ads appear to not be showing... Any ideas?

Question for a possible future release:
Would it be possible to make it so you could specify ads per group? For example, I would want my unregistered users to see header/footer and posbit ads, and just regular users see the header ads.

That's the reason all the ads are templated, so people can make further customisations if they need to. It was made with that in mind. :)

Surround the contents of the templates you want to alter with a conditional. Put this at the top of each template you want to alter:

And this at the bottom:

Replace 1,2,3 with the Usergroup IDs of the ones you want to see the advert, or put an ! between the " and is_member_of to change it to the usergroups you don't want to see the advert.

Double-check you've done the template edits again and go over the settings and instructions very carefully. If they're working in one place there's no reason they shouldn't be working in another.

I have implemented advertisements on header, footer and postbit .

The header will be shown to those who are NOT registered, but after login, the header ads will not be shown. The header ad will show exciting things like "JOIN AND WIN FREE GIFTS" etc. The footer ad will not display ad, but I plan to put some howtos and help as shown in this new vb.org skin down below -- table that says "new to this site? need help? etc. The ads below posts, those will be used to display weekly lotteries, quizzes and gifts.

I want to have a specific section for ads in the PM part, because the PM will be only opened from inside the control panel, and there I want to put something like "Have you set your gender? do this this.. or Add yourself to the google map .. click to the right etc"


I am going to put phpadsnew codes into the ads box. Hope that works fine :)

You can add a specific message to PMs by adding this to your postbit_advertisment template:

And that will only show in PMs. That will allow for one static message only, if you want rotation or something like that then it's a custom job.

i have a question. i have a few different styles and different coloured google ad's to match the particular style. does this plugin allow me to add different google ad code for each style?

When inserting ads into single threads, what if you want one specific ad in individual threads? Can you do that and have several different ads for individual threads and not rotate ads. For instance if you have 3 advertisers that want to advertise in a thread about a specific topic .... and no where else can you set 3 ads about 3 different items and have them show only in the threads specified?

Not with this modification, no. You'd have to edit the postbit template and for each specific thread add this to where you wanted the ad to go:

Forumbit ads would make them show up where the name of each each forum is, yes.

Great mod, I have it working with phpAdsNew (I was using another mod with xml-rpc, but have switch to javascript for this mod).

I'd like to add a feature request for the following ad locations:

• navbar
• search_results_postbit

and the option to left align postbit ads.

Just taken a look at search_results_postbit and I agree. I'll add it to the next version. I didn't include any search templates because of Google's TOS, but of course that doesn't apply to everyone so...

Styling is unlikely to ever be done via the AdminCP. it's very unwieldy, especially since there's no way to hook CSS into the forum's existing stylesheet. And more to the point there's so many ways people might want to format, I could never cover them all. The options would be huge! It's likely to be template edits all the way.

Navbar you can already do if you need. Just change the template edit to $GLOBALS[$header_advertisement] (I think it is, it's discussed earlier in the thread for vBCMPS) and add it to the navbar template instead of the header template. But the thought does occur that I could add perhaps two "miscellanous" adcode sections which can be placed anywhere at all in case someone wants a header template and a navbar template, for instance.

THis is a great code. But it seem to have one bug i found.

When i do the template edit on the header template while using the rightside advertisement on show thread the sidebar advertisemetn dosent seem to work but on forumhome it does. When i use the default header leftsider advertisement works. So is there any fix.

i am using this via phpadsnew, but for some reasons, cannot get the rotator to work ;)
It works fine when people move from 1 page to another, but staying in the same page, the ads stay the same.
calling the same zone command, exactly as the first one using a , also does not rotate without refresh.

It was never intended to rotate without a refresh. It just picks a random advert on page load.

I am having an issue.
If I enter a user ID in the "Do NOT display advertisements for UserIDs:"
It turns off ads on the entire forum for everyone.
