that is soo ODD, cause <!-- --> means ignore this and should not be shown in the
forums, anywhere.. this basicly means there is something wrong. but i think
somewhere you can enable / disabled this to be shown but then it would
show all over your forum not just in a specifik forum/thrads

which version vb are you running ?

Doctor Death 02-01-2009 05:10 PM

I am running 3.8.1 and all other mods work great. I will be happy to provide you access if you would like to look... pm me offline if you would like.

Doctor Death 02-02-2009 09:31 PM

Still looking for an answer on this... It also puts a similar comment in the threat title of the post being created. Really looks bad. How do I get rid of them?.

Would appreciate help.

protow 02-03-2009 01:37 AM

i have asked on the download II it self section but still no answer to my? is there a way to add more than 1 file to post in 1 thread???????

Doctor Death 02-04-2009 10:02 AM

AURFSCAN 02-06-2009 04:51 AM

RedGTiVR6 02-06-2009 11:02 AM

RedGTiVR6 02-06-2009 11:12 AM

The lack of support or even engagement here is rediculous.

Yes Doctor Death, how dare somebody make a extensive modification for free and then get tired of asking the same questions over and over again. The nerve of CyberRanger.

To the people who are getting the begin template markup in their posts. <!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE:

Turn off "Add Template Name in HTML Comments" in your vBulletin options, and make a new post or edit the commented code out.

Well Thanks Geek for that... If a mod is declared "SUPPORTED" by the author then a simple question should get a simple answer. If you notice, the author has not been on line for a month. Some of us own/run VBulletin boards which are in effect a business so it is important to get these answers rapidly as technical issues arise.

Thanks for your understanding of my frustration... And yes, I have supported authors with donations for those mods who I use.

Is there an option to force a thread to be created when a file is uploaded?

Yes that it exactly what this mod does, if configured corretctly. ;)

Drakah 02-21-2009 03:38 PM

Is there any way to move the "Downloads - Create Threads" dropdown, in the admin side panel, to be underneath "Downloads" instead of at the very top above Vbulletin Options? I would rather have Vbulletin Options at the top at all times.

Drakah 02-21-2009 04:36 PM

Nevermind, I found a way of manually altering the ACP order of the plugins.

Apparently I needed to alter the cpnav xml file (found in the Includes/XML folder), and change this:
<navgroup text="Downloads - Create Threads" hr="true">

to this:
<navgroup text="Downloads - Create Threads" hr="true" displayorder="19">

Thanks for this, I'll edit it myself too. :)

RedGTiVR6 02-27-2009 12:05 AM

I've had a request from our users to have the "New File Added" tag be automatically removed after a set period of time. I realize that this modification is no longer really supported by the original developer.

Perhaps someone else might be able to tell us how to make this possible?

It would be a fantastic addition I would think.

:)

Saviour 03-01-2009 06:32 PM

I'm running vB 3.8.1 and have this mod installed.

Where's the option to configure what forum is used to post the new thread?

Saviour 03-01-2009 06:35 PM

Nevermind...

triff 03-23-2009 05:42 PM

Great mod! Should be updated to a vB 3.8 mod! :)

I'm well aware of that, I just think it should be added to those mods, so people searching for vB 3.8 mods find this great mod too! :)

Great mod. Been running if for awhile now and it works and suits our forum perfectly. One thing I'd like to mod though:

We would like the newly created threads to have a specific post icon. We have custom post icons and would love to have the threads labled with a specific "File" icon. Glanced at the templates and don't see anything obvious. I'm sure somebody can point me in the right direction. :)

RTMdotORG 06-08-2009 11:46 PM

works great!
you should update this a lil and post in 3.8 section because its flawless on 3.8.2!

Im using cybs advanced forums...
with this mod theres no need for an attachment image so
and you can have a no attachment image shown next to it....
not sure if you can show the attachment column without that mod...
but with advanced forums, you can choose which image is shown for each and no1 would ever know its supposed to be an "attachment" image...
I know it sounds kind of confusing, but you've given me an excellant idea! thanks!

gbox master 07-28-2009 09:49 PM

when i installed it it all worked nice
but somehow i get a error now

i made a edit in a template threadbit_delete but reverted it
i installed everything 2 times now to see if that helps

but still i get the error

[COLOR="Red"]<!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: downloadii_create_newthread_desc -->

Thread Discussion
<!-- END TEMPLATE: downloadii_create_newthread_desc -->[/COLOR
and the new thread created is called
<!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: downloadii_create_newthread_desc -->

maybe some advise on what to do
i really like this mod and want it to work again

EDIT

got it and thnx m8
it works again

gbox master 07-29-2009 07:31 PM

i hope the creator still looks here
it could be me again or it could be the mod

i have several download folders and they have subfolders like forums and subforums

when i add a moderator to a motherforum they automaticly become moderators of the subforums

with the DownloadsII Create New Thread Add-On i would like it if this was the same
now we have to edit each folder main or sub
is there a way to do this ? or is this not possible with the mod ?

ArnyVee 08-23-2009 11:19 PM

Thanks, worked great! :up:

Hi, I can't see if this question is posted in the thread already...is there a way to have the created thread include the poster's signature?

I have the DownloadsII with the DownloadsII Create Thread addon and all the link the old links that DownloadsII Create Thread did are still pointing to the old domain so im wondering of there is a way to change the dirrection of the old domain to the new one???

I'm working on this :)
Just keep it installed for the moment and disable it (if you upgrade to vB4/v6).

You can do a search and replace in your posts table (as there will be other old links to, not only from this DownloadsII add-on): http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...o-a-new-domain (backup your database first!)

And the best thing is to setup redirects on your old domain name. Don't put it offline, that's bad for your SEO.

shadowla05 01-30-2010 12:43 PM

If you run it correctly, it really should work.
What did phpMyAdmin say afterwards? It should say something like "x rows updated/affected". If the number is zero, then there's something wrong :)

The only thing to note is that there's a parsed posts cache ("Cached Posts Lifespan" in the "Server Settings and Optimization Options"). You could set it temporarily to 0 to check if the post table is really updated.
