Not that it matters as both systems are great and do what they are intended to do.

Not only that, but when I looked at his forum's URLs, the were being re-written w/o key words.

My guess was that DChapman was just testing or experimenting with stuff.

ConqSoft 10-10-2006 09:11 PM

Yes, he is using vBSEO, and here is his rationale for the URL format he chose:

http://www.vbseo.com/f84/vbseo-beaut...software-8405/

Ramsesx 10-10-2006 09:15 PM

Think I'll give it up with zoints seo, the idea to make it open source is a good one, but on the community here it's not really supported.

KuRnAz 10-11-2006 08:40 AM

I think I am having a problem with my archive pages...

For Example...
In Search engines i have a link of my archive like that....
Code:

http://www.sitename.net/vb/archive/index.php/t-10170.html
When I am clicking it , he is re-writing like that ;
Code:

http://www.sitename.net/vb/sitemap/index.php/http://www.sitename.net/vb/showthread.php/bu-isim-senin-neyin-oluyor-10170.html
And So My archive's homepage is opening....

How can I solve this problem and forward it to
Code:

ttp://www.sitename.net/vb/showthread.php/bu-isim-senin-neyin-oluyor-10170.html
..

ThanX ...

Yep, i've been dying to try a new url schema for quite awhile. vBSEO allows me to do that, whereas Zoints SEO does not. vBSEO allows for far more configuration options than Zoints SEO at present. You get what you pay for :)

I've tried it on multiple sites (even your own). I have noticed that vBSEO does not appear to have this issue and it is kind of odd since cookies shouldnt really matter.

Good find. I'll add that to the bugs list, thank you.

Hmm looks like another clue to our archive problem.

big dan 10-12-2006 08:23 AM

I'm having a problem:

Go to New Post on thread display no longer works since installing this hack. It simply goes to the forum home page.

Any Ideas guys?

Thanks,
Danny.

TTG 10-12-2006 02:02 PM

This looks so inviting and interesting .. pity it is not supported

werkkrew 10-14-2006 12:49 AM

I am having the same problem with the posts in my archive redirecting back to the main page.

On further inspection; Multi page threads are fine. Single page threads show the Go To New Post link as www.forumurl.com/#4346.

I'm assuming the fix is in the threadbit template, I just don't know where?

Hoffi 10-14-2006 08:06 AM

Yea, I have this Error, too. Very bab, many of my Users use this Link.

Zoints 10-14-2006 05:54 PM

Uninstalled

AMG021 10-15-2006 08:49 PM

uninstalled.. had it for 2 weeks never found my self in search engines!! Gave me soo much problems ! UNINSTALLED

tyler_d 10-15-2006 09:01 PM

I guess SEO isn't for everybody. I've had it installed since the last update and it has worked great and different spiders are crawling me much more frequently now from what I'm noticing in the vB who's online status.

Amazing difference!

Zoints 10-15-2006 09:07 PM

I'd like to reiterate, pleased do not install this hack unless you are well educated when it comes to SEO.

Be patient, take a step back, see if the community develops it. If not, you're better off with your default forum setup.

Agreed. Too many people seem to think that all they have to do is install some plugin then simply sit back and watch the traffic start pouring in... It doesnt work that way sadly

+1

What SEO does is to make the site more Crawable. It doesnt put you in Top10 results in Google or whatever and it is not about patience. It justs help search engines to search better since "SEO" means "Search Engine Optimisation"

For whom "knows what he's doing" Zoints SEO is on of the best plugins I have installed on this site. I strictly recomment it and for whom "Doesnt know what he's doing", you can try buying vBSEO and start prayin' to god to give you rapid community development bec. you are paying for it.

and again DChapman, thanks for this addon.
I would like to help it making better.

Thanks.

ninjashoes 10-15-2006 10:51 PM

Yeah great hack, how can you complain about a free vbseo? The incoming search engine traffic has improved on my forum already. If your intelligent enough to understand what it does and have the pateince to get the bugs worked out this is possibly mod of the year.

I like the plugin and understand SEO, the concept behind Zoints SEO is great. My problem was a very basic thing got broken. View New Posts on threadview no longer works. I posted here and didn't get an answer, I viewed the Zoint's forum and see people have asked the same with no answer.

I'm not complaining, I understood when I installed that it might not work 100% and wasn't supported by the authors. Yet a basic thing like view new posts should work.. no?

gokhantr 10-16-2006 10:11 PM

1. Did you do any manual template edits?

2. Do they show twice on forumdisplay.php?

Would using google sitemaps, and this modification be redundant???

ConqSoft 10-17-2006 02:54 PM

No, you need both. BUT, you need a sitemap tool that will create a sitemap containing the rewritten URLs, which doesn't exist for Zoints SEO yet, as far as I know.

Joe Gronlund 10-17-2006 05:11 PM

Great thanks, still would like to remove the copyright.
I registered on zoints, can someone post a URL to how to remove the Copyright??

rogersnm 10-17-2006 06:16 PM

It uses a str_replace which you can find in one of the plugins. Just delete it.

TurkSipa 10-17-2006 07:31 PM

That part I underlined and Bolded is the XXX part needed. Before SEO It was like ?t=1234123

after SEO it becomes in form -t1234123.html

I have no problem with moving.

must be:

sorry for the bad English

Here's what I did to fix the View New Posts link on showthread:

Code:

So far it seems to work.:smoke:

Uninstall the product via the product manager, and remove any uploaded files from the installation...
