SuperTaz 05-23-2007 05:23 AM

I like it...Works great. Thank you

Hornstar 06-17-2007 11:28 AM

think im still using the old version, this has been here for almost a year and i never sore the update lol, but it is a shame it was never updated to fix those quote problems. that would be the main reason why I would update.

fxs158 06-26-2007 01:42 PM

I am going to try this, is there a hack that prevents users from deleting pm's or allows you to log on to a file all pm's sent on the forum?

Charlie98902 06-26-2007 01:45 PM

Don't know why someone would want this but you can see the sent and recieved with this. I did test it and it does work. What you are asking is admin login as a user that works well too. I used both when I was getting hit with spammers but now see no need for it myself.

Shaz8389 07-03-2007 08:42 AM

I just get told that it's an "invalid file specified" when I try and install it in the admincp.

You don't install it in the admincp. Follow the directions closely

kellyandmark04 07-04-2007 10:48 PM

i am using version 3.6.7 and after succesfully uploading both files i am unable to see the read pm's under the user section , can anyone let me know if it doesnt work with my version or what i need to do thanks

Dream 07-04-2007 11:34 PM

It should appear under the User section of the AdminCP after uploading the xml to the correct place, try reloading all your AdminCP.

I notice some pms can;t be read after members have deleted them...why is that?

Dream 07-12-2007 11:16 PM

Because they were deleted

Mrdby 07-12-2007 11:19 PM

anyway to be able to restore them or keep them active within the acp?

Dream 07-12-2007 11:23 PM

nope sorry

In my opinion, you shouldn't be an admin if you're going to be reading private messages without just cause. I take the privacy of my members very seriously, and have written my Terms of Service to reflect the situations in which I feel I may need to access private messages. My other administrators are held to the same code of conduct, and anyone found to be acting otherwise would be immediately banned.

I will half to agree with you 100%. Reading of someone's PMs should only be done if they are abusing the PM system or you feel the system is being used for illegal activity.

Brew 08-08-2007 06:27 PM

When reading a PM I get this in the "TO" field:

a:1:{s:2:"cc";a:1:{i:2;s:8:"testuser";}}

It shows the name "testuser" but there is other stuff in there too.

Great mod though!

I had to think hard about this mod.

But I've been getting some suspicious activity on my boards from people in this little country the USA is currently at war with (no hint here, you know where). The activity is enough for me to want to verify my suspicions before I take it further.

So this mod is great for that.

rnmcd 08-08-2007 09:53 PM

Has anyone had trouble uninstalling this?

Not very hard remove the file from FTP lol.

wickland 08-09-2007 01:42 AM

Another awesome and unique hack dream. Not much use for it now as I have barely any members, but should come in handy for my PM spam defense!

Thanks

Nope, I've never lied about reading private messages. I don't make it a policy to read them, but there are certain reasons that do give me cause to read them. If you'd like a copy of my forum's Terms of Service, which all of my members have agreed to, which also contains a disclaimer that the administration may review private messages given due cause, send me a PM.

Ohiosweetheart 08-12-2007 10:21 PM

do we really have to talk about the pro's/cons/moral integrity of reading pm's here? It's been debated to death on other threads in general chat. Leave the support thread for support so people don't have to wade through this stuff to find answers.

DieselMinded 08-13-2007 09:42 AM

I was asking a question Not Debating
