why do not just disable sig for unregistered user so SE can not see sig??

Search engines always view the forum as unregistered users. You can simply disable signatures (if you so choose). However, signatures provide a benefit to members who contribute to the website. They contribute to discussions and help you build content. In return they are rewarded with valuable link backs to their websites.

This plugin helps to ensure that members demonstrate more responsible posting habits before they get the benefit of signature exposure and linkbacks.

Starting to really love this vbSEO stuff.

This is a fantastic hack... though I feel a few of my members might be peeved at my stripping signatures from short posts.
