Can I report a bug...
Code:

Invalid SQL: update inferno_user set hp='1', where gid='3'
mysql error: You have an error in your SQL syntax.  Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'where gid='3'' at line 1

mysql error number: 1064

Date: Tuesday 30th of November 2004 11:34:27 PM
Script: ./forumhome/inferno.php?do=DoEquip&id=37
Referer: ./forumhome/inferno.php?do=SelectEquip&Cat=1

It seems to be to do with the fact that it's set one stat value, when the code is designed to only *not* put a comma on the following case:
PHP Code:

if($check=="evasion"){ // last stat check

Are there any help files for this game? I see a space for them, but there's not even a "how to play the game" file anywhere with this mod.

Thanks in advance.

I'd also like to reuqest an upgrade script, but would it erase any of my data or anything? and could u test it?

What happened when vb3.0.4 comes out. Will we have to erase everything and start over?

And also, how do we control how people level up? Wheres the amount of experience they learn? Is it 200, or 1000 per level, I don't know. Thanks for any help.

Also, whats the point of MP if theres, from what I can see, no use for it.

One more thing, were we supposed to delete the XML file, along with the install.php file after we run the install script?

Oh oh oh, and last but not least. Why buy your RPG rather than dl the free RPG intergration hack. I am just asking.

I'm kinda curious on this too. I have an entire budget just for our forums, but I'm not dropping a dime on anything that I can see or make work on my own. And so far, I haven't seen that this Lite version actually does anything at all. I have experienced RPGers looking at this thing and scratching their heads alongside long time vB admins (I'm very new to vB, comparatively speaking) from other forums. No one seems to know "how to make it go", so to speak. It's just taking up space right now without any information on what to do with it.

So, I'm very interested to see how this Lite version is pitched so that I can determine if it's worth shelling out the money for the full version. Personally, I think this is a cool idea. But it's only cool if it works.

Zero Tolerance want to talk to you on msn about porting it to other board system

SupremeWeapon 01-06-2005 07:18 AM

to purchase something that can just be ported fvrom phpBB with no trouble at all with more features is ludicris. plus the fact that it takes nothing to developan rpg mod for a forum system. the prices are ridiculas. the lite is also ridicula. and the term are ridiculas. you cannot claim internet copyright laws for this you must have it copyrighted and then the fair use acts allows anyone at anytime to modify it and redistribute it without having to gain your permission. FYI on laws.

I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with anyone, especially not around here, but your statements show a complete lack of knowledge of the law.

As an aside, I'd love to see you claim Fair Use on something like this. You'd lose in any court of law since your claim here is completely against what Fair Use means in the first place.

Mink_ 01-09-2005 03:10 PM

@ SupremeWeapon: I don't know where you got your information, but almost everything you stated in that post was wrong. First of all, you don't "get things copyrighted". Anything that anyone ever makes is copyrighted. Also, I dare you to try to port this mod to phpBB. You will fail. Where did you ever get the idea that it would be easy? Oh, and while your at it, code a new vB RPG from scratch for me. I'd love to have one. ;)

Yeah, I just read over your post, and every complete sentence there is false. Haha, you're a dumbass. Anyway, back on topic:

The thing is, RPG Inferno doesn't do much right out of the box (well, the full version might, but I'm talking Lite here). You have to go into the admin cp and add items and monsters yourself, and that can be difficult if you want to use decent images and such.

After doing that, the rest isn't that difficult to figure out :P
You go into the battle arena, pick a monster, and fight. You go to the itemshop and use your earnings to buy items...

Anyway, I actually do suggest going out and buying RPG Inferno. It's an very complete RPG mod, probably much more so than the RPG Intergration Hack (which is probably why you have to pay for it ;P), and once it's set up, your members will love it. I bought it for IPB, and my member count and forum activity soared.

Also, I would like to point something else out.
The SQL database seems to have room for card game stats o_o
Is this because people are supposed to update to Inferno full if they like Lite? Because I sort of like Lite better, in the sense that it's not as complex.

Why do I know this? Because I was trying to code a mod for this mod (for my personal use until I asked ZT if I could release it :P) that displayed a member's RPG stats in every post. You can view what I have so far here: http://www.final-fantasia.com/forums/rpgstats.php?id=1 . But I can't seem to figure out how to display a function inside of the postbits because I'm a newb in php. And I could use some help... I was posting that info in hopes that someone who's better with PHP could PM me with info on that *HINT HINT*

@ ZT, so... would it be acceptable for me to make mods for this lite version, as long as they don't deter people from buying full (you being the judge, of course) ? Oh, also, this is Minkoff from gz|e ;)

Whew... fairly long post...

first your statments were wrong, for it to have any precedance(sp) in court it must have a valid united states or other country patent/copyright for it. "internet" copyrights have no wieght in a court battle.

also, to warn you. images taken from FF8 and other square images must have permission from square-enix becuase they ARE copyrighted in euro, us AND Japan

these law facts also makes it impossible for you to stop anyone from distributing them for free.

THIS is the biggest load of nonsense around. Mink's statements are not only correct, but backed up by law. If anyone actually took the time to read a little bit from the Copyright Office, they'd see that a registered copyright is not only NOT necessary, but that it only serves to make a record in order to ease legal proceedings.

Quote:

From the Copyright Office:

When is my work protected?
Your work is under copyright protection the moment it is created and fixed in a tangible form that it is perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device.

Do I have to register with your office to be protected?
No. In general, registration is voluntary. Copyright exists from the moment the work is created. You will have to register, however, if you wish to bring a lawsuit for infringement of a U.S. work.

Why should I register my work if copyright protection is automatic?
Registration is recommended for a number of reasons. Many choose to register their works because they wish to have the facts of their copyright on the public record and have a certificate of registration. Registered works may be eligible for statutory damages and attorney's fees in successful litigation. Finally, if registration occurs within 5 years of publication, it is considered prima facie evidence in a court of law.
However, this latter isn't even completely true. There are multiple cases of record for copyright claims that have been won without registration. Registration only makes such a case a bit more cut and dry than not having something registered. Lawyers go to court all the time to establish "copyright date" (i.e., when it was first fixed in tangible form) so that people can have their rightful claims. It's just more of a pain to do without registration and you cannot claim certain kinds of recompense for damages. But there is no law that states that you cannot go to court over copyrights if you do not have something registered. (Not that I recommend it, just that it is possible.)

Next time you guys want to play lawyer, use a little common sense (like reading reading a little bit of law) or go to law school.

And, besides, I believe that it was you that made such ridiculous claims about Fair Use -- another concept that you should take the time to read a little law about before spouting off nonsense (or get sued).
