in vBulletin ACP, Styles & Templates -> Search in Templates,
search "chat", find fchat_navbar_link and remove it.

It's a Java server and installs its own JRE during the install script. I wouldn't like to say that you absolutely need a dedicated server, but you certainly need command line access, as well as being able to install services and lifting any firewall restrictions. I haven't used shared hosting for a while but I think this is all very unlikely. You could use a virtual dedicated server without a problem of course.

Yes Hqarrse, you're definitely an expert on 123 flash chat, you've answered onehost very correctly, it's true that a dedicated server is required.

Basically two requirements: shell access (command line access), can run JVM.
And about the port, usually ISP can open it for you.

So Mr. Onehost, even if only 5-10 users you will need DS or VDS, otherwise you may consider our affordable hosting service, it's stable, instant setup, free install and with professional tech support.

That's even easier.
When you've done installing the module, in configuration, choose server mode 2) Commercial Server Software or Hosting Service.

Sorry - getting carried away. So far I've been downloading and installing mods from VB.org but not contributing much so it's nice to help when I can!

It's good to see an integrated VB module, although it would be better it it worked properly! For those who host your own server, but have a license (correctly I believe) for the domain where you have the client, ie. where your users are chatting, and these server and clients are not the same, you will need to fix something.

The integrated widget doesn't give you the possibility of adding different server and client locations. If you enter my_chat_server.com for your server, then the system will also look to 'my_chat_server.com' for the client. That results in an 'access from my_chat_server.com not permitted' error when you try to connect to the chat. I assume because your 123chat license is not for my_chat_server.com, but for your website.

The solution - quick and dirty - is to edit 123flashchat_admin.php and hard code in the URL to the client (line 58):

Code:

$fc_row['fc_client_loc'] = 'http://www.my_actual_website_not_my_chat_server.com/123chat/';
Thanks to 123FC for taking on board my security comments.

FYI, I bought 123flash chat a year ago and never really used it. No refund possible so I lost ~450 bucks :(
The flash version was to much for user to load, and the html version was lack of functionality.

this connect with others servers .. right ?

but is a good option ;) !

Out of interest I just had my chatroom hacked. I then (stable door, horse etc) looked up exploits and found this:

http://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/14658/

Given that it took me to point out the gaping hole in their forum integration security, and the severity of these exploits if true, I have lost confidence in 123FC and will be switching to a different system. A bloody shame after so much work and my users like it, but weak security is simply not acceptable.

free version doesn't work on my site.
When i Open the page i see the 123chat home page instead of the chat.

:(
