You can easily see have have almost no search engine traffic compared to direct traffic and site referrals.

That is why your bounce rate is so low.

Site with mostly direct traffic or referring sites have much lower bounce rates. Your site is a perfect example of why bounce stats without traffic source stats are meaningless.

1,715 search referrals a month? Our site gets that much search referral traffic in less than one hour.

These stats are completely meaningless.

If you are going to publish / post bounce rates, you must post your traffic stats, including traffic sources.

(See earlier posts).

That stat you are referring to... Is one of my earliest ones because my site was only a few months old (explains low search engine referrals). I've given you several examples to show you differences in page views. Since you referred to my last one being off because of low page views./... Now its search engines? Which is it?

The truth is there is no ONE thing. Referrals are just as good as any search engine hit. The bottom line is and always will be with bounce rates is to get them to STAY and not click off. Make your landing pages HOT so they want to investigate instead of hitting the back button or the red X. PERIOD. It has always been my top priority. I think that reflects itself in my always low bounce rate. So believe what you want and I'll believe mine. If you have 5,000,000 page views and you have a 50 or 60 bounce rate. I can promise you, your doing something wrong. JMO

Are there any high traffic sites that have decreased their bounce rate a lot? I would love to know how others have improved bounce rate.

I have 10 million page views and an average bounce rate of 66%. 77% of visits come trough search engines.

Our commercial site is:

20 % bounce rate on home page
Direct Traffic (51.43%)

Search Engines (37.14%)

Referring Sites (11.43%)

Average time on site 19 mins 07 seconds

Normally pages with low search engine referrals have a low bounce rate.

You have a 4 percent rate of search engine referrals, so you will have a low bounce rate. I a site with 5M PVs from 95 percent search referrals will have a bounce rate nearly 70 percent.

That is why I said earlier, as have others, bounce rates without overall stats are meaningless, period.

my bounce rate is at 50%, im having a very difficult time getting members to register and post on the forums. my community is very inactive and dead :(

Hi all !

I've red all comments above and would like your help.
I've bet on google since 2001 and took about 4 years to get all my content indexed and daily updated (using vbseo and sitemaps mostly).

I've got about 100k unique visitors per month, mostly from google (85%).
This if course means a high bounce rate (about 60%).

What would reduce most this bounce rate in my case?
I've moved similarthreads into the top of showthread to check results.
What more should i do to avoid this?
