There is no one line which is:

$threadmanagement

So, I took a guess in following the instructions as precisely as possible, and put the "ABOVE that ADD" coding in the following place in the 2nd of 3 instances of $threadmanagement in the newthread file:

{
PUT CODING HERE
$threadmanagement = '';
}

Of course, this results in an error in my forum when one creates a new thread.

Would someone please instruct me as to where exactly I am to put the coding? Thank you.

No offense, Andreas, but it would appear to be necessary. It's difficult to edit a file when the phrases you tell us to look for don't exist. I was unsure of every edit I made because it didn't match, and not surprisingly, I now get errors in my forum instead of being able to post to or read a thread.

I came here and have spent an hour reading old posts in a 39 page thread, trying to find the correct coding, and have yet to find it.

I appreciate you making this hack and if I get it to work, I think it will be a valuable addition, but I don't see why this hack or any other "shouldn't" be updated to go with the latest version of the forum. Granted, you don't have to give any of your time to update it, but it's certainly not "not necessary."
