Correct. I can not change them for the PM and TEAM channels either. All permissions appear to have been set properly within usergroups.

To edit channel usergroup permissions, you have to go in the command manager and set the permissions (there is an item for that in the menu).

I said it was nice and I still think it's great but you have to agree that there are so many steps to installing it and I don't want to do anything that would put my forums at risk. I am kind of a layman when it comes to coding so I decided to keep away. I would really love for it to become simpler to install because from what I can see, it is the best with all its features.
I have never been a rude person to say that some mod is bad even if it was cause I know and appreciate the coders' time and efforts. So, please execuse my remark as it wasn't intended to offend anyone. When I said too bad, I meant for me cause I wanted so bad to install it.

The problem with the multiple steps is the command installation for you ? I have done it so users install only what they want to install as command.

The only part that I want to modify in order to make the install simpler is the upgrade process between each new version.

For the moment, you have to install back all commands xml after an install due to a specific behavior of vBulletin (normal one).

To avoid that problem, I'll make two products: the chatbox itself and the chatbox command products.

This will avoid command phrases and settings to be erased upon new version install :) Thus diminishing the process of upgrade.

I think the main issue is the way the folders are set up. I missed a lot of different files when I was uploading. Everything that is going in the Images/Misc folder should be in one folder, KWIM? It was a bit of a headache trying to figure out what I missed, but once it's up, it's up. I definitely do NOT recommend installing this hack if someone isn't really experienced with computer stuff.

I also have the problem when people's first post isn't showing up. Inactive mode is turned off, so I know that isn't causing the problem.

About install, honestly if you read carefully the install instructions it's really really no problem IMO. I have made my possible to make it as clear as possible !

The only thing I could do more is to make the install procedure as a manual with images so that users who don't like reading readme (they are intended to be read though ...) could get it to work.

What you must understand is that we, coders, can't make all the job ;)

One of the job of a good forum admin is to read carefully install instructions before installing a mod. Like you would logically do with anything else you would be installing or buying for your computer.

As stated previously, when I change permissions in this area, they are not saved. I go to the permissions area of the command manager, change the settings and click save. When I go back to view the settings, any revisions I made were lost.

Hi

What do we do with the custom rewrite of the Custom Rewrite Rules for vBSeo ?

No I haven't changed anything that would cause it to not appear in the arcade.

The instructions you followed where the one in the readme file ? You haven't recently updated the arcade ?

Yes, I followed all the instructions - I've gone through them several times just to make sure. I haven't done anything to the Arcade recently except reset the scores and add a couple of new games. Would you be able to have a look at it somehow?

I have just tested it and it worked perfectly.

During your last upgrade, did you uploaded the file in the admincp directory correctly ?

It's in the case you have vBSeo installed, it rewrites chatbox archive pages in the vBSeo manner :)

There is an option in vBSeo where you can use that.

Yes but not in the upcoming days, I have a project to start which really needs all my attention.

Yes, I uploaded the files multiple times. However, I just installed the latest revised version and it now works. The settings can now be changed within the appropriate command permissions and the /pm and /team commands appear to be functioning. I am still unable change the permissions within the channels themselves, though this still does not seem to impact functionality.

Hello vBDev,

sometimes I can't write anything into the chatbox.
I do enter the shout and press "enter" or click at "ok", but the shout does not appear.
Then, 10 attempts later it works. :o

What can that be?

Have a nice weekend.

P.S. There are a few other persons that have the same problem in my forum. :o
I use Firefox 2.0.0.12 ...

captainslater 02-23-2008 12:56 PM

This issue is known and VBDev will try to find a solution for this.

(You do, do you? :D)

1) I still have a prob with the text coloring, same as my background!
Where exactly do i change it? Cant i just edit some lines somewhere in a file that defines the text coloring! Its really tiring to set a color each time you want to type somethin!

2) Ι just updated and i have the same problem, it fails to post a chat but it gets it with the second try!

3) I have the same old problem with my language, my forums language is in UTF8, both english and greek! Everytime i try to install you language xml file, it messes up everything! Back in 3.6 it ruined some tables and i had the guys from vbulletin.com support to run some queries and fix it!

Now after uploading the file, it doesnt matter which language i choose, english or greek, everything shows up in greek! I Deleted the english language, reinstalled it, still the same, its always greek! I uploaded tools and i've put through the command the default english language, its still the same, in greek!

Phiouuuuu...wish things with this mod were more simple...
I miss the chatbox in 3.6:(
