no one help, this addon is abandoned?

I have this mod installed and everything seems to work but I have a problem. With this enabled whenever you move your mouse over a thread the "hover" will not work. This is where you hover your pointer of a thread and it shows your a preview of the thread. I have 2 banners and a google adsense rotating in the navbar. It's frustrating because I've made small changes in the img code like removing code to make it open in a new window and each time I made a small change it would begin working again but would stop after a few hours. Finally I concluded that no matter what I do it will start working again. Literally if I go into my ACP and go to the "Header and Navbar" settings and just click save without changing anything it will begin working again for a few hours and stop again. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm having an issue with vbportal too. Board is working fine, but I am getting a blank vb portal page. Someone working with me on the blank vb portal page issue just installed vB Ad Management to his site, and now he has a blank vb portal page also. My other board is setup the sdame, but without the vB Ad Management, and it is working fine. Are there any known issues or code changes necessary in any of the templates, etc. to get vB Ad Management to work with VB Portal?

Does anyone know if RedTyger still monitors this forum, as some time ago, I posted a problem to it and he asked me to PM him an admin logon/password, so he could have a look, and I've heard nothing since. I also see he hasn't posted anything for a while now.

Unfortunately, the problem hasn't gone away on its own, and in fact we've just been contacted by our web host and have been told that we're using up excessive amounts of server resources, and the problem is linked to "Apache (httpd)", which I'm pretty sure is related to vB Ad Management.

Can anyone help? At worse, can anyone help me un-install vB Ad Management to keep our web host off my back?

I have read through about how to remove the 'remove advertisements' link, however i don't know what phrase i'm searching for, could someone give me more indepth details.

I don't think providing the same answer everytime it's asked for is productive. We are supposed to be forum operators, which would mean we know how to operate a forum - including using the basic Search function of a thread. Seeing the same questions asked over and over shows me that many of the forum owners here don't. I've got no sympathy for them.

You have the answer in your question. Search in phrases for "remove advertisements".

I've enabled advertisements on the "last post on a page", but they seem to only appear in the linear views. There is no ad block in hybrid and threaded views.

I understand if that's by design... but if that's the case, does anyone know how to have an ad block appear after the last post on hybrid and threaded views? I'm a VB noob but am not afraid of a little template hacking. :)

I have found the answer to the people using Version 4.x and not being able to see any menus after the hack has been installed.

I tried to run cpadmin on another pc, and what do you know, it looked fine. All the vbadmanagement menus where there.

Tried again on my normal pc, still not working. Only the vbadmanagment hack showing as installed, but when I click on one of the options, I would only get a white screen.

I have ie7pro installed on my normal pc, and have the "enable Ad Blocker " option checked. When this is checked, you can not see any of the menu items for vbadmanagment. When unchecked, it works fine...

Hope this helps some of you that are experiencing the same problem. If you don't have ie7pro, it may be some of your other explorer adons that are blocking what it thinks are ads...

Has anybody got the code that I can use to put a .swf file in to this? I've used search, but can't find anything (you can't search for swf, only .swf). Also tried to search for flash, but no luck.

Do we need this for vb 3.7?

Has anyone got this working on 3.6.0 ? I have been asked to install it on a forum and am having numerous problems with all the links being garbled in the admin cp.

It was previously working fine with v3 on 3.6.0 , does anyone know where I can get this older version ?

The language file is not installing on 3.7 so I am holding off on trying again till 3.7 got RC or Gold and more things start getting ported.

Hi i am using if condition to show ads to guests only in threadbit and the only problem i am facing is that the block created by the advertisement still shows to other members although no advertisement is displayed and the link "Remove this advertisement" also shows. How can i fix this.

i have updated it very soon as it was released but i did not find anything new it was being made into more a complex stuff and many stuffs did not have anything no name and menus i got mad uninstalled it and then searched the whole net for the older version at last i got it and its working fine as before thanks to that version i will manage it without an update !!!

To remove the block from showing at all, edit the template "advertisement_threadbit" under the "Advertisement Templates" group.

You can either remove it when you're editing the template above.... or edit the phrase.

Search for "remove advertisement" under "Languages & Phrases" in the AdminCP.

Is it possible to display the advertisement's owner? By username, preferably.

I noticed a previous poster mention turning on "identify ad owner", but I don't see that option anywhere now. Old feature?

Just before I install this, is it possible like if Ive got 4 different banners, they can be in the one banner, and it changes everytime you refresh the page..

Also.. can the account holder of the advertisement see how many clicks the banner has had etc?

**Update to this**, I figured out how to add code, somewhat. Anytime I pasted adsense code into the adcode box and try to save it, I get the page cannot be displayed. I can use images, html, anything else, but when i pasted my adsense code in there, it will NOT save. please help

Hello all, I am excited as can be about this mod. However, am I the only one here that has no clue how to get ads enabled. For example, I want to install ads for postbit so that a google ad is displayed every 5th post/reply. I have it enabled and set to every 5th one under postbit settings, but I am lost as to what I need for postbit adcode, and where/what I need to edit to make it appear.

Can anyone help with this? A little more detailed process that you would use from start to finish to enabled postbit ads.

Works great. Thanks. My only question is has anyone encountered a situation where only unregistered users can't see banner ads? I checked all my usergroups and they worked fine, but when I log out the ads don't show.

I've uploaded the files onto the server and I can now see the VB Ad Management section on the Nav Bar in Admin.

However...after following the directions to make an ad, I can not make any ads appear!

I want to insert one that will automatically insert and rotate 2-3 ads at the top of the Nav Bar on my forum. How do I do this? What code do I use?

I am running vB 3.6.8 and had planned on installing vB Ad Management 4.

But after reading the many frustrations by would-be installers, I am having
some second thoughts.

I do not need anything too fancy, just something simple, reliable and bug-free
that will do the job.

So, is there an alternative? Or is vB Ad Management the only option?

You've probably got it set that the usergroup for guests doesn't see ads.

I'm sitll trung to solve this issue.

I have problems getting ajax refreshing to work. I'm only using the header_advertisement area right now.

In IE, the refresh causes my banner to disappear instead of rotate. No banner ever reappears.
In Firefox, no refresh occurs, the banner is unchanged.
In Safari, no refresh occurs, the banner is unchanged.
In Opera, no refresh occurs, the banner is unchanged.

So, is this function working for anyone else? My templates were all defaults, and I only added the variables need to display the header ad. If it's only meant for things that auto-change like Google ads, please let me know. I was hoping for it to rotate through the ads I have listed, separated by the "|" character.

The initial banner appears on first loading of the page, no problem, and page refreshes do rotate the banners. It's just that AJAX refreshing doesn't seem to work correctly as described above.

To get the effect I'm looking for, do I have to implement iframes that reload?

is this mod able to handle 8000-10,000 users online?
can this mod use the vBulletin memcache functions?

My suggestion for best answer is try email google adsense support.

I doubt that it is against the terms of service for Google Adsense ads, but i would be extremely cautious. They banned one of my adsense domains without notice or even an email explaining why until i asked 6 weeks later. (the word "hack" had been used in my forum..)

Also, my AJAX refresh doesn't currently work either in any browser... i hope we get a quick fix soon.
