I have a need to change the link color of the announcement in the shoutbox. If possible, not utilizing another post bit or other already used CSS style. Can I add it directly to a template (hex code)?

Our site was attacked by a DDoS-attack yesterday and today. The server people tells us that this attack was targeted at vBShout. We are/were running the 5.4 lite version. Is there a known weakness with this particular version?

You can format your links with BBCode, like so: [URL=http://www.example.com][COLOR=Red]Text[/COLOR][/URL] :)

There is no weakness in this version no more than vBulletin itself :)

vBulletin itself does not have any flood check against normal page requests built in, so if that's what it takes to bring down your server then it could happen on any random page with sufficiently large queries, such as showthread or memberlist with specially crafted parameters.

So probably the wrong place to ask this since i'm running on vb 3.6, but for whatever reason i can't get it to display on my forums...

I have the same problem is it on compatibility mode of Internet Explorer when it is switched on.

Yeah, vBShout is not designed to work on IE7.

If your skin requires the IE Compatibility Header turned on, please contact your skin developer for an updated version that works in browsers released after 2006 :)

For the Lite Version is there a way to disable the Active Users tab in the shoutbox?

It loads very slowly when switching from the Shoutbox tab to the Active Users one and the other way around.

It can't be disabled in any version, Lite or Pro.

If you turn off the Context Menu via the options in the Instance Management screen, does that improve performance?

No improvement even if I turn off Context Menu. Everything goes well until you switch tabs, then it loads really slowly, it's almost stuck.

I thought I can remove some part of the code so that the Active users won't be displayed as tab.

I am running vB 4.1.6.
I have members from all over the world.
I had Shoutbox version 5.4.8, and some members could not see the shoutbox - these members are scattered all over including the U.S.
So about 2 weeks ago I updated to version 6.0.8. Now more people cannot see the box, including those that already couldn't see it.

Assuming most people have updated browsers, is there a known reason why not everyone can see the box?

There's a tab in the shoutbox itself called "Unhandled Reports" which will show a number greater than 0 when there's unhandled reports :)

Where the "Shout Box" is the default chat romm and i have members as a tab for members chat

Is it possible to have 2 different chatboxes on different skins.

My users want the plain old chatbox on a dark skin so they can use it mobile.. while my browser users want to use this chatbox because of its features.

Ok i looked through as many pages as i could, before i buy this i would like to know where the rest of the options are, all i have is the basic General Options.
Im looking to disable idle time, or at least set it, text options, color options ect.

You can configure different colors for the shoutBox for different vBulletin themes. However, if users using different themes are using the same shoutBox, you end up wanting to make them the same color anyway (unless you force the users to a single color when typing).

To give you an example, my site has a light theme and a dark theme. Originally I had changed the shoutbox colors to match the themes. But the people on the light theme would use dark colors for their texts, and the dark themers would use light colors, so the different groups would have a hard time reading each others' texts ;)

I ended up going with a middle-to-dark color theme for the shoutBox so that both groups were using the same background and could choose appropriate colors.

Unfortunately it's not possible to change the order of the first 2 tabs, no :(

You could switch to manual deployment in vBShout and only add the variable to your standard skin.

Please add yourself to Super Administrators in config.php or grant your account Can Administer vBShout via your Super Administrator account.

The upgrade doesn't work. I uploaded new files, 777'd the aop folder and imported the new XML and the shoutbox is stuck on "Loading...". It doesnt load my saved font colors etc either.

Just so you understand. i want to run VSA Chatbox on 1 skin and i want to run Vbshout on another skin.

Giving the users the option to choose either skin and use either chatbox
