does anyone have any ideas why this will not work on apache2 ??
I know apache is reading and processing the .htaccess file because i've put in options like indexes with fancyindexing and that works. I keep getting an error that indicates the url was not found on the server and the apache error says "/usr/local/mysite.com/upload/archive/" does not exist? I've just spent two hours and it won;t work. It works on my 1.3.27 apache server just fine. just as a test I added archive to the mime types associated with php in my httpd.conf file and removed the 301 redirect from the .htaccess and that work. I can also change the redirect and point to my apache1.3.27 server and that server displays the archive page ...but the apache2 server will not serve the page out of ideas.... do you have any? |
It's working fine on my localhost with the latest Apache version.
Make sure you configure your conf file properly. |
well. I check my 1.3.27 conf file line for line to my 2.0 cnf file and there are no differences that would could be attributable to the problem. Would you om or email me a copy of your conf file?
thanks - jeff |
well...after 4 hours of testing I can confidently say that this hack does not work properly under Apache2 running on Linux.
and that's a shame because this is a great hack. I compiled apache 1.3 and put it on the same server as apache2.0 and made the httpd.conf file exactly the same (with a few minor exceptions required by apache2.0 and when I fire up apache1.3 on the server this hack works. when I fire up apache2 it does not. oh well... it's a shame google and msn spidered thousands of my pages and they all now lead to broken links. If you got it working on apache2 running under RH Linux, I'd like to hear from you and what you did to get it to work. |
This hack is awesome. I've had it going for a couple months now. I have more traffic than ever, and my google rankings are very good. I went ahead and added a popup to the archive and so far i'm making 2-3 dollars a day off of it. It's enough to more than pay for my webhosting every month. Here is my archive link http://www.club18t.com/vbulletin/archive/
Here is the popup place if you want to try it out popup sponsor |
This is freaking me out....
I installed this hack. For now I have ~ 30 000 unique visitors on my site & forum, but... Google bots are mad... All those guess from the attaced picture are google boots ! I will need a bigger server ? |
This is nothing, I had at once 48 Google crawlers, on our web site. :)
The server handle it very easy. |
I guess the place I posted earlier is no longer accepting new members. You guys can try these out though. I hear very good comments from the users. Like I said they are just a decent way to make some extra cash off the new found archive trafficThis one
This is the other one. It appears to me much less intrusive to your guests though which is nice Here |
