I don't hear the sound of the chatbox

When I send a private discution I have : [MP à %1$s]

It's working perfectly in 6.0.8 :)

You need to revert that phrase, it's no longer the valid syntax.

If you are having problems with sound, please follow this check-list:


1) Did you select a sound to be played in the Instance Manager?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Instance Management -> [Edit] -> Shout Sound / Invite Sound / PM Sound

2) Are sounds turned on?
AdminCP -> DBTech - vBShout -> Settings -> Enable Sounds

3) !!!Pro Only!!! Are sounds turned on in the UserCP?
UserCP -> Shoutbox -> Shoutbox Settings -> Shout Sounds / Invite Sounds / PM Sounds

4) Is the QuickTime browser plugin installed? -Not needed for HTML sounds-
QuickTime Plugin- Please note that you need to restart your browser after installing the plugin.

5) Does it work in other browsers?
If you only have one browser on your computer (Internet Explorer) you should try out Firefox.

6) Is the following text present in the source of the page: <embed or <audio?
Right click -> View Source -> Ctrl+F -> <embed
Right click -> View Source -> Ctrl+F -> <audio
If this is not found, and all the above steps are completed, then you may have an out of date template. Please revert any customisations to dbtech_vbshout_shoutbox


If none of the above steps fix it for you, then it's a browser issue that we are unfortunately unable to assist with.

ahhh! thanks! I had to completely uninstall and remove older files, but it works now.

For some reason when i enable the shoutbox, it loads my site for about 3 seconds and then goes straight to a white blank page, anyone know what could be going on? Im running 4.2

Im very interested in purchasing the pro version, i wanna make sure this isnt a major problem i have first tho.

Does the URL bar change when it loads the white page?

Can you PM me with an account so I can see this in action?

I'm having a problem with the shoutbox updating itself I guess you could say. Whenver there is a new post instead of the shoutbox scrolling down by itself it will stay in place either all the way at the top of the shoutbox or about 10 posts above. We then have to scroll down to see it but then it automatically goes back to about 10 shouts above. This just started happening about 12 hours ago and has been working perfectly for over a month now.

Any suggestions? Is it a bad code or should I uninstall/reinstall?

If you didn't change anything with the Shoutbox and it randomly started happening then it sounds like a browser issue, was the browser updated recently?

No it wasn't. I wasn't the only person experiencing this as many people were experiencing it on the forum and varied from firefox to chrome users too.

It was possible for me, to show the shoutbox on the CMS-Starting-Page, using this way here:

My members have a shoutbox in the landig page and they use this very well. For this reason, i need to add this too...

We are having a strange issue with the 5.x series where the shouts show up out of order. It just started happening a month ago out of the blue. Upgrading to this 6.x version to see if that will resolve the issue.

Disable the i.s.s.w security product.

Unless it can be reliably reproduced in some way there's unfortunately no way I can solve it :(

The shoutid and dateline are both in the correct order in the database tables. Have uninstalled and re-installed but the issue remains. Perhaps my web host (GoDaddy Ultimate Secure Linux package) is garbage. Not sure what to do now.

our site was hacked today and we found the exploit that was just released and I imagine discovered. The exploit uses the Inferno vBshout custom commands to inject itself into the site.

please tell me how to remove custom commands.

Inferno vBShout was not developed by us. We cannot provide support for 5 year old software that was not written by us, sorry :(

With the lite version is it possible to have it so that new threads and foum posts show up in the chat box?? Or is that restricted to pro?

Where do i go and how can i change the color of the text on the tabs? Thanks

The Lite version lets you set threads and posts to show up on a per-category basis by clicking Forum Manager under the DBTech - vBShout AdminCP menu group.

You can edit this in the dbtech_vbshout_colours.css CSS Template :)

Found it, but im not too good at this, i can't see where colors are to change. It just says background color

You need to change the line to background-color:#FFFFFF to make it white, for instance. Look up hex codes on the internet to find the colour you want :)

I've been having the same problem as an earlier poster, with the out-of-order shouts. Somebody will post a shout and it will show up like 10~ slots in the past. Vice versa, etc.

This shoutbox is very rich?

Are you also on GoDaddy hosting?

Yes, Fillip, I'm on GoDaddy.

The only 2 people who have reported this problem is hosted by GoDaddy - it would seem as if GoDaddy has an issue with their servers.

While two points make a line, not a pattern, it's still a bit much of a coincidence.

GoDaddy's 4G hosting causes a long enough dateline delay between the web server and the database server that it puts shouts out of order. Had to uninstall this mod and move to a web IRC solution instead.

This is basically what I needed to hear, thank you for explaining this.

Could anybody recommend to me a host better than GoDaddy where I wouldn't have this problem? vBshout is THAT important to my site.
